It's important to avoid making big changes to training load too quickly and be mindful of intensity. Regular deload periods and focus on energy availability, including caloric intake, are crucial.
Exercises such as calf raises, lateral hip exercises, quad and hamstring exercises, squats, and deadlifts are important to strengthen key areas involved in running.
Biomechanics can indicate areas of greater load on the body, but they don't necessarily predict injuries. Running shoe selection should be based on comfort and individual needs.
Medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS), a soft tissue condition, can be managed by reducing volume and intensity, while bone stress injuries require rest. MTSS can be identified by pain along a region greater than five centimeters on the inside of the shin.
Ensuring adequate caloric intake and nutrient availability, including calcium and vitamin D, is essential for bone health and injury prevention.
