With practice, approaching this conversation can not only lead to a positive result, but it can also even strengthen the relationship with your buyer. In this video and podcast, we discuss how to ask for your full fee when a seller or builder is not offering your commission. We start by discussing the three potential outcomes of commissions. From there, we dive into how to discuss this with your buyer. The key comes down to letting buyers know how you get paid, why you get paid, and what happens if you’re not getting paid. In real estate, most agents know that a thriving SOI (sphere of influence) and repeat and referral business will form the majority of the transactions they do. But having an SOI is a chicken and egg problem. You want to build an SOI-based business, but you need an SOI to grow your SOI-based business. With adding more people into your database, your database will shrink. So whether you know a ton of people or very few, forming new relationships is vital.
