THE FYX 048: Why You SHOULD Hire a Coach During the Holiday Season

Part III of the holiday food chat--Food for the Holidays! Coach Krysta is still flying solo to bring you her top tips on navigating the overwhelm and challenges surrounding the holidays and our food choices. The FYX is here to help you make the best choices possible for the holidays, without sacrifcing fun and memories with your loved ones. In this episode: Stop trying to be like everyone and their grandmother on a New Year's Resolution kick come January 1st. Be your OWN catalyst for kickstarting your health goals. Why? Because we all know that you are the only person stopping you from achieving the outcomes you truly desire. What better way to guarantee your success than engaging the support and accountability of a coach? Most coaches can speak from genuine experience when we say that clients who begin on their path in November and December--and more specifically, don't use the holidays as an excuse to 'go off the rails,'--are much more likely to achieve their goals within the following year. On the other hand, those who wait until the turn of the new year, are likely delaying the inevitable cycle they'll fall back into yet again. As yourself, truthfully, what will make this year different? You CAN make this year different by starting now. In this episode, Krysta talks about:  - How working with a coach in November and December gives you real support in the exact situations that have led to past failures - Why a coach brings value as someone without skin in your personal game - Why seasoned coaches would NOT ALLOW calorie deficit phases between November and December - How learning to navigate overwhelming food environments is that much easier with a coach's support Fill your coffee cup, sip away, and get your FYX of Coach Krysta on The FYX podcast. THE FYX 047: How to Not Eat like an A**hole: Handling the Holiday Food Craze, Part II

Part II of the holiday food chat--Food for the Holidays! For the next few episodes, Coach Krysta is flying solo to bring you her top tips on navigating the overwhelm and challenges surrounding the holidays and our food choices. The FYX is here to help you make the best choices possible for the holidays, without sacrifcing fun and memories with your loved ones.   In this episode: How to *NOT* eat like an asshole -- one of my favorite sayings to share with clients when we're talking about overeating. We have access to excess--and sometimes, in eating like we've never seen food before--we forget to be grateful for the excess. In the case of Thanksgiving, the options may overwhelm us. A lot of us have a tendency to eat simply because the food is available and right in front us. The best mantra I have to share: Food will always be there. If you have certain foods that are only around your house during the holidays, prioritize them specifically: you only eat them once a year! Go for it! If there's a dessert or side you know you could easily eat next week, that might be the one worth skipping. My Thanksgiving favorite? Sweet potato casserole: give me all of the sweet potatoes and marshmallows, please and thank you. Fill your coffee cup, sip away, and get your FYX of Coach Krysta on The FYX podcast. THE FYX 045: Why Flexibility is the Key to Consistency

In today’s episode, Coach Krysta talks about the fiasco that nearly was recording this podcast episode—and how the experience was in fact A LEARNING OPPORTUNITY in ADAPTABILITY. With original plans to cover a slightly different topic, a missing microphone USB cord and spotty internet became a lesson in nutrition. How, you ask? It prompted some thoughts around the importance of always having back up plans, even when they’re not nearly as perfect as the original plan—for the sake of getting shit done, showing up and bringing your best effort. It’s all in the name of CONSISTENCY. And at the end of the day, consistency is what wins in changing your body composition, losing weight, and crushing your fitness goals. In this episode, Krysta references one of Lewis Howes’ recent podcast episodes: The School of Greatness. She highly recommends listening to his recent conversation with Dr. Benjamin Hardy, a psychologist and bestselling author, who focuses on the idea of self, our connection with our future selves, and burnout. Krysta uses Hardy’s psychology research references to tie identity into nutrition goals. THE FYX 044: What to Do if Travel Plans Derail your Nutrition Goals

How many times have you started and quickly stopped dieting because life—specifically travel—got “in the way,” and it was suddenly too hard to stick to your plan? Coach Krysta says it’s finally time to make that excuse a thing of the past. What you’re missing is the RIGHT approach and a BETTER plan. In a lot of cases, maybe you just need a plan. Period. In this solo episode, Coach Krysta walks through a current client’s travel plans for a work trip and how they worked together to strategize on her meal choices. If you’re someone who feels like travel or meals out consistently interfere with the results you wish to see, this conversation is 100 percent for you. THE FYX 043: You have to WANT it to Make Lasting Changes

In her latest solo episode, Coach Krysta tackles mindset--more specifically: how the stories you continue to tell yourself are reinforcing the habits you're working to break and are getting in the way of the goals you truly desire to achieve. Krysta walks through some of her own personal struggles--and frankly, a few excuses--she's been facing in managing a much more demanding workload, and how she sees these challenges as an opportunity to reframe her goals, but most importantly, continue to chase them. Krysta provides a little bit of tough love throughout this conversation, explaining that the people who have accomplished the same goals you hope to reach are the same people who are willing to make difficult choices and sacrifices. These are the people who are willing to put their heads down and do the work, regardless of the short-term satisfication they may be "giving up" for the long-term gain. She also pushes listeners to consider why they may be great at getting started, but find themselves struggling to continue along a specific fitness or nutrition journey.   Fill your coffee cup, sip away, and get your FYX of Coach Krysta on The FYX podcast. THE FYX 042: Want to Achieve All of Your Nutrition Goals? Discipline is Your Non-Negotiable

In this solo episode, Coach Krysta shares some more details about her latest venture at The Fort Athletic Club in Oceanport, NJ, which opens on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Krysta talks about the challenges of managing a busy work schedule in the context of your nutrition and fitness goals—specifically: how to not completely give up on them. It’s easy to justify everything as a “quick” or “grab-n-go” meal when you’re out of the house, between meetings, or exhausted for a long work day. This episode provides several tips on what to consider if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the personal and professional aspects of your life, and are unable to justify making your nutrition and wellness a priority. The hard truth? Being “busy” is ultimately an excuse. Instead, Krysta suggests how you can: - reframe your mindset and approach to what it truly takes to make healthy changes in your life - Actually make those healthy changes stick - Build habits that become foundational to your success - Recognize the importance of discipline, acknowledging that there are requirements to reach our goals—it’s not always about making everything easy - Rely on motivation to get the ball rolling, but recognize that discipline brings you to the finish line Fill your coffee cup, sip away, and get your FYX of Coach Krysta on The FYX podcast.
