THE FYX 059: Quit Working Your A** Off with Too Much Cardio

We've got a little spin on today's podcast episode with Coach Krysta as the guest of the show. This episode was recorded inside of a Facebook Live with fellow nutrition coaches, Jillian Smith and Jaimie Brewis, who are also co-founders of the Lady Power Moves Project. Jillian and Jaimie are previous guests of The FYX Podcast--check out their interview from Episode 30: Drink [and eat] Your Way Lean this Summer. Jillian and Jaimie invited me into their Lady Power Moves Project 21-Day Challenge as a guest speaker where we weighed in on everyone's favorite debate: cardio vs. resistance training. In this chat, we break down exactly why resistance training is THE preferred method to fat loss. The lean physique you're chasing? I promise you it's with a pair of dumbbells. Ladies, listen up: it's time to get your a** off of the stairmaster, and your hips under a barbell. You know that booty you want to build? You're literally running away from it with too much cardio. We outline:  How to build a weight training program that MATCHES the way you’re eating and your fitness goals Why variety [and unfortunately group fitness] may be holding you back from your dream body The importance of doing the seemingly boring work, such as focusing on a step goal, getting more sleep, and following a progressive overload with your strength training The total mind fuck that is doing less and eating more Why you should collect (sleep, digestion, calorie intake, workouts, energy levels) to be able to make BETTER decisions and understand WHY you’re seeing the results that you are with your physique Why every workout shouldn't leave you completely exhausted on the floor  Coaching spots in The Fitness FYX formula are still open for the new year. Don't be another failed New Year's Resolution statistic in February. Reach out for a complimentary consult where we'll talk about navigating the weight room and building you a custom workout plan. We're not here for another bullsh*t solution. Visit www.thefitnessfyx.com to learn more and to book your first call with Coach Krysta. Want to chat? Shoot me a DM on Instagram @thekrystahuber. THE FYX 058: The Not-So-Sexy Essentials to Weight Loss with Sinan Ozyemisci

Sinan Ozyemisci is the Coach Liaison for Stronger U, a personalized nutrition coaching program built around you and your specific needs. As a former SU client myself, I can personally attest that this coaching program WORKS--and is one of the best, no-bullshit programs on the market. The SU team is near and dear to The Fitness FYX because it truly inspired the work I do today inside of my own coaching. Sinan holds Masters Degrees in both Applied Clinical Nutrition and Nutritional Sciences--and is a soon-to-be registered dietitian. In this episode, we discuss motivational interviewing [Sinan's thesis topic] and the role it plays in the coaching space, as well as the power in building both habits and flexible routines. The key word here is flexible: Sinan details his own morning routine to highlight how it has shifted as his schedule has continued to evolve between work and school responsibilities over the last two years. We also chat about: - Assessing someone's readiness to change - Decision-making as a two-way street vs. a coach constantly dictating what a client should do - How to stay fit while traveling, especially when access to weights and equipment is limited - The not-so-sexy stuff: good sleep, getting enough protein, and getting your steps in - How to reframe your mindset: moving away from an all-or-nothing attitude and stepping into the power of grace and flexibility Connect with Sinan on social media: @dr_synonymous on IG. THE FYX 057: Stop Adding 'BUT' To Your Accomplishments

This episode is for you if you feel like you "fall behind" just as quickly as you "get ahead." This episode is for you if you're consistently: - Comparing yourself to others vs. celebrating your wins - Downplaying your wins, considering them to be too small--or not enough - Hanging around people both personally and profressionally who aren't challenging you to be better This episode will move you in a direction to change all of that--just by paying attention to the voice in your head for a few days. And by asking you to examine the environment in which you live, work, and play: is that environment supporting your growth? If you're like me, you don't typically sit around and ask these questions. Yet, they're important. Start now. Start today. If you don't know how, that's where The Fitness FYX comes in.  Coaching spots in The Fitness FYX formula are still open for the new year. Reach out for a complimentary consult where we'll talk through whatever has repeatedly stopped you from achieving your ideal body at the start of each new year. We're not here for another bullsh*t solution. Let's get you the answers with The Fitness FYX. Visit www.thefitnessfyx.com to learn more and to book your first call with Coach Krysta. Want to chat? THE FYX 056: Creating Your Own Reality and Unapologetically Receiving EVERYTHING You WANT with Amanda Marit

If you need a fu*king pep talk, this conversation is for YOU: Go after all of your biggest wants, goals, desires in 2022 with the energy and guidance of Coach Amanda Marit. Amanda Marit has coached individuals in all walks of life, including celebrities and public figures. Amanda works with her clients to help reframe what leadership is and can be and identify what it takes to be seen as an authority figure in their industry, allowing them to step into their most opulent selves. Amanda began her spiritual awakening and journey to financial independence behind a cubicle. At the time, she maintained the status quo by working a typical nine-to-five job, climbing the corporate ladder. She found the spiritual lessons to be profound and started a blog with the simple intention of inspiring others. Shortly after, she began to dance with the idea of redefining her career and becoming a leader. She began coaching other women in the space of spiritual awakening, leadership, and individual wealth. By 2017, she left her job of seven years and began coaching full time. This trajectory led her to develop her own Spiritual Coaching Certification, Illuminated, where she now serves both women and men in over ten countries. In this episode, Krysta and Amanda debunk the "woo-woo" side of spiritual awakenings, alignment, meditation, and manifestation. There's some serious power and truth to these hot buzz words that are flying around social media these days. Amanda's own journey--and her energy--are shining examples. We discuss how the characterisitics of Amanda's successful corporate life weren't translating into her personal, romantic life: attracting the wrong partners, feeling unlovable, and feeling like she wasn't enough. She was seeking for answers--and decided to do something about it with inspiration from the likes of Gabby Bernstein and Wayne Dyer. Connect with Amanda on social media: @theamandamarit on IG. Dr. Esposito is a naturopathic physician, acupuncturist and functional medicine practitioner specializing in integrative urology and endocrinology with a hyper-focus on men’s health. His precise and personalized style utilizes a systems biology and precision-medicine approach to medicine. THE FYX 052: What I've Learned in 52 Weeks of Podcasting & How It All Relates to YOUR Weight Loss Goals

Man do they grow up so damn fast--it's the FYX Podcast's FIRST BIRTHDAY. Just like that, we've hit 52 episodes in 52 weeks. The best part? We're literally *just* getting started. In this semi-solo episode, I'm joined by my maestro behind the scenes--my Digital Editor and Producer, Tony Prugel. Tony and I serendipitously connected via Instagram just over a year ago, and he's somehow continued to put up with all of my shit for the past 12+ months. This show came alive before his assistance in the weekly editing process, and I've got several other important people to thank--and they know exactly who they are. But, I owe a special shout to the guy who has quite honestly produced shows overnight, without ever compromising on the high standards I hold myself--and this brand--to week in and week out.   We flipped the script a bit for this one and Tony joined me in front of the camera and on the mic. The conversation led to significant reflection on all that's transpired in producing and growing this podcast over the past year. I've learned so much about myself, about the wellness industry, and some pretty complex science around nutrition. I'm also refining my voice and can sum up these 50+ weeks as lessons in the following: - Perfection's battle with showing up consistently - The NEED to plan: getting ahead and STAYING ahead - Saying something when you have something to say - Being a better listener - Tuning out the distractions and going deep with one person - The psychology of coaching - Keeping liquids away from my devices (plural!!) - Always backing up files - Never settling for less than your best effort ...And in true FYX fashion, we drew all of the parallels that podcasting shares with nutrition and fat loss. THANK YOU for supporting The FYX in its first year. We're heating up for an incredible 2022--as long as you promise to keep coming back for more.
