IFS and Healing with Psychedelics with Nancy Morgan

On today's podcast I talk with Dr. Nancy Morgan, Certified IFS Therapist. Nancy wrote the IFS and Psychedelic chapter in the new upcoming book, "Altogether Us" which will be released around August 2023. I spoke with Nancy on episode 47 when we focused her role as Director of LifeMoves Behavioral Health and Training Programs, a California agency dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Nancy introduced IFS into the training curriculum during the 2015-2016 year. Today, we have a much different discussion. You may be here because you love Nancy and want to know and hear how she is and what is going on with her as she was recently diagnosed with cancer. You may be here and you do not know Nancy personally or professionally, you want to know more about IFS or you want to know about psychedelics. Whatever reason brought you to this episode I am glad you are here, and I feel incredibly honored that Nancy shares her heart and story with us. The first half of this episode is heavier around the history of psychedelics and the integration with IFS. Nancy shares more of her story in the second half, although it is weaved throughout. I start recording as soon as I meet with each guest, and most of that beginning matter is edited out. I decided to leave our entire conversation just as it is. You can find out more about Nancy here: Internal Family Systems | The Guide Inside | Dr. Nancy L. IFS and "Middle Lane Drinkers" with Madeline Gibson

On today's episode I chat with Madeline Gibson, a Level 3 IFS practitioner and coach living in Lake Como, Italy. Madeline owns and runs Lake Como Wellness, a wellness events and retreat business. She is soon to launch her podcast, "There’s a Part of Me", for the IFS curious, and in the new year will launch a range of free resources around ‘middle lane drinking’ through the IFS lens. Middle Lane drinkers are those who haven't 'hit rock bottom' but feel curious about what life would be like without alcohol. Madeline is almost five years sober after going through that lifestyle transformation herself, shorting before meeting Dick Schwartz on retreat in northern Italy. You can reach out to Madeline on Instagram @the.ifs.coach or email hello@theifs.coach ---- Madeline encourages us to be curious as we consider that our drinking parts are destined for greater, more Self led roles. She gives 4 reflective questions or journal prompts to deepen our own connection to our internal world.  She says that as long as parts are stuck in protective roles they are not living into their full potential. Check out her website where you can download an ebook, "Middle Lane Drinking: An IFS Approach." I’ve been using Snipd for about a year and this app has been life changing. I listen to about 17 hours of podcasts a week and I want to take notes on 95% of them. Snipd makes it so easy to do. I can triple click my headphones and record a snip. The app also improves rapidly which is welcomed. It’s an easy subscription for me to pay.
The game changer for learning from podcasts!

I used to use a different app that was able to save excerpts from podcast and really enjoyed it. I could listen to the podcast and quickly save things that I wanted to come back to later. Snipd take this to a whole new level with AI integration, creating summaries of podcasts and summarizing the main takeaways from what I’ve saved and snipped. I really love how it helps me prioritize what podcast to listen to with it summaries & deep dives.
