Ep 21: Grip Strength...Fountain Of Youth?
In The RACK Podcast...Powered by ProForm Physical Therapy.
In this Episode Chad and Nick talk about the importance of grip strength.
Grip strength is a good reflection of total body strength.
Grip Strength has been shown to be associated with longevity/mortality as well as a variety of disease and conditions from cardiovascular to numerous cancers. We talk about the inclusion of grip strength as a biomarker/vital sign for older adults as well as the importance of the good 'ol handshake.Of course we always have to tie it back to the feet. We feel that strong feet do improve quality of life - it makes sense, as foot issues related to weakness could causing mobility issues and limit physical activity, etc. We feel that this could be just as important if not more important as a predictor of your longevity...Just a theory lol! From an evolutionary perspective, we’ve been lifting things, climbing and hanging from trees forever. But in our modern day society we are becoming more "lazy". For example we now have the option to have our groceries being delivered to our home. This is an even more important reason to work on that grip strength. Now go out there and hold something. You life may just depend on it!

Ep 17: Plantar Faciitis or Plantar Fasciopathy? Let's Get The Terms Right!
In The RACK Podcast...Powered by ProForm Physical Therapy.
In this Episode Chad and Nick are switching it up. Today we are talking about the good ‘ol dx of plantar fasciitis...But is this actually what we should be calling it?
Fasciitis means inflammation. Through research of plantar pain, inflammation does not seem to be a big factor if any at all!
Fasciosis (meaning an abnormal state or condition) or fasciopathy (meaning a disease or disorder) are much more accurate terms to describe pain surrounding the plantar fascia region.
In this episode we dive into what the plantar fascia is and how the biomechanics of the body can greatly impact the stress of this tissue. We discuss the reoccurrence rate of plantar fasciopathy and what is contributing to this increasing rate.Stay tuned for the end of this episode as we also discuss quality treatment strategies for plantar fasciotopathy as well as introduce our next guest speaker for the upcoming episode. __________________________

Ep 14: Insurance...The Dirty Truth
In The RACK Podcast...Powered by ProForm Physical Therapy.
In this Episode Chad and Nick give you a PT perspective on the dirty truth about your health insurance. We not only discuss the things that insurance does not want you to know, but we give you a better understanding about the difference between receiving your PT care from an in-network facility vs. an out-of-network facility. In our opinion, the current model of traditional physical therapy has to change as it is not benefiting our patients or our community.
With our model here at ProForm PT you will not only save time, but you will ultimately save money and achieve your desired results…faster.
Moral of the story…Insurance is not the only way…and we will tell you first hand that it is not the best way!
You deserve better than your insurance. Do not let your insurance dictate your physical therapy care. ..We Sure As Hell Don’t!
