Grace + Boundaries: Navigating Intergenerational Trauma with Erin Hearts
Erin Hearts
Grace + Boundaries is a weekly memoir in a podcast! Follow host, Erin Hearts, as she shares how she navigates trauma while setting boundaries from her higher self. Traumas, big or small, can add up to broken relationships within a family. These traumas continue being passed down until we take steps to repair and mend our broken hearts with self-care and psychological education. Gaining emotional maturity is also a large part of the path towards grace and boundaries. Erin has walked the path of trauma recovery for the past decade, and is learning day by day how to evolve from the hurt she feels in order to become the graceful, loving woman she has always intended to be. Erin has a Master's degree in Education, creatively teaches middle school, is a musician, and loves being a single mom to her tweenaged boy. Grace + Boundaries has been the name of this podcast since July 2023. From November 2021- June 2023, this podcast was called "Self-Care for Survivors of Trauma." This podcast is a community of honest, open-minded survivors of all types of trauma, big and small. Each week, host Erin Hearts will discuss an aspect of self-care- emotional, physical, spiritual, etc.- and share how she navigates life's challenges by doing special things for herself and making time for herself each day. Erin believes that learning how to take care of ourselves is the key to healthy relationships with others, and she's devoted the past six years to studying and practicing how to better love and support herself and her loved ones. Erin is a single mom, teacher, musician, and highly sensitive person. Instagram: @iheartserin

"Your Feelings ARE your Inner Child" with Jana Wilson
Jana Wilson is an emotional healing educator who teaches meditation and hypnotherapy as part of her Emotional Healing System. She just published her first book, a perscriptive memoir called, Wise Little One: Learning to Love and Listen to my Inner Child this past July. Jana and I discuss all things trauma- lives of parents, life as a little one, date rape, divorce, CPTSD, among lots of other wise tidbits of healing. Jana believes that "awareness is the greatest agent of change," She discusses the idea that we attract ourselves in romantic relationships and that we can't get what we are not yet- financially responsible, emotionally intelligent, etc. It has to come within ourselves first to be able to attract that from another. "The Partner is the Mother" - Identifying the Mother Wound in Romantic Relationships
Mark Wolynn told me, "The Partner is the Mother," and it's one of the most profound sentences I've heard this year. Does this assertion track for you in your significant relationship? It sure does for me when I look back at my past partners. It was difficult to pinpoint at first, but now I see the similarities between the two and I know I have a large mother wound that I'm seeking to heal. Today I discuss more about that quote and what it means in my life. I share what Mark Wolynn advised me to do to heal the wound, and my reaction to his words. I share a poignant meditation I did recently that revealed a shocking symbolic image that I'm still unpacking. It's embarassing, but I'm hoping someone out there can relate! Textbook codependency. (It's how I coped with my emotional neglect as a child, so I don't blame myself!)Finally, I top off the deep chat with a new practice I've been trying out that I learned from none other than one of my favorite memoirists, Elizabeth Gilbert, of Eat, Pray, Love fame. If you haven't read that one, go get it now! You're in for a whilrwind romance with a book and a soulful goddess. Educating our Kids about Sex and the Internet with Amy Lang
When is the right time in childhood to bring up the topic of sex? The answer is pretty much from when they can talk! Listening to Amy Lang's podcast "Just Say This" has taught me so much about how to be open with my son about his body, his feelings, and his sexual health. It's helped me learn how to take the shame out of sexuality so that I can keep the lines of communication open with him as he grows up. We discuss sexual abuse prevention, pornography exposure, why it's important to teach your kids the scientific names for their parts, and she shares some great books that can help kids learn more. She offers many trainings on her website including a sexual abuse prevention training and a free script sharing "7 Great Tips" for sex talks with kids. https://birdsandbeesandkids.com/free-tips/Studies suggest that at least one-third of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by other children and young people, often against a younger child (Allardyce and Yates, 2018, cited in Yates and Allardyce, 2021).
