S5 Ep. 4: Early Detection of Cancer & Important Cancer Screenings for Women
Screening for early detection of cancer is one of the most important health care decisions you can make. We have all had a loved one, a friend & people in our lives who have had a cancer diagnosis. Cancer is an unfortunate reality that plagues the human race & its effects are devasting on both individuals and families. It is also a disease that in medicine we still do not understand, and whether you are the most healthy person in the world, or not, we are all at risk for cancer.
Today on The Hormone Genius, we will do an overview of what cancer screenings are most important to consider, and how early detection is truly the key to saving lives.
We will touch on the most common cancers women are at risk for, and what are the most common cancer screenings to ask your doctor about ,including cervical, breast, lung cancer and colon cancer. There are many cancers unfortunately that do not have standard screenings which we did not cover today, so please make sure you take a look at the websites below to get more information on cancers which we did not cover such as skin cancers including melanoma, and uterine cancer, and blood cancers and more.
We hope this information is helpful for you, and that it empowers you to talk to your doctor about which cancer screenings are appropriate for you.
It is also important to know if you have higher risk for cancers based on family history. Please discuss your family history with your doctor and you can learn more about hereditary cancer risks here:

S4 Ep. 32: Hormone Therapy from Perimenopause to Menopause
Do you feel like you are in the dark when it comes to understanding perimenopause to menopause? Like many areas of the woman's body and her health, there has been a lack of education and support to women. This is true of women going through the transition to stopping their menstrual cycles for good. The good news is more noise is being made about this topic, and we want to join the conversion on The Hormone Genius podcast today and dive into the questions you have about perimenopause and menopause. Jamie and Teresa will discuss this particular transition towards ovarian quiescence; including the common symptoms of perimenopause to menopause, and the options for treatment.
Jamie & Teresa will review some of the questions you sent in for us to answer on this particular episode, including themes around weight gain and menopause mood symptoms, hormone therapy, and so much more!
One of the most common concerns is whether women should take hormone replacement therapy. This has been a controversial issue for sure, but we will give you a renewed sense of hope in this area of women's health. The great news is that hormones can continue to help womens bodies through menopause and beyond. Hormones have benefits to our quality of life as women, but they also have health and longevity benefits as well. We will take a look at all of these options and also help you focus on becoming the best version of yourself at 45, at 55, 65 and beyond, because that is what we all want is to be healthy and vital for as long as we can on this great earth.
We will look also at the Women's Health Initiative and the unfortunate reality that this large study was misintepreted, and therefore has not given women appropriate informed consent around the decision of using hormone replacement therapy. Hopefully, we will give you a new look at this issue giving you more information, so you feel more confident in talking to your doctor/healthcare professional.

S4 Ep. 31: Getting Pregnant after Miscarriage with Bekah Yawn
Bekah Yawn is no stranger to being on the Hormone Genius Podcast, and today, as a certified Fiat hormone coach she is going to help us understand a path forward for healing & answers after miscarriage. Many women will go through the difficult loss of a child; in fact rates for miscarriage are between 20 to 30% for women in the U.S. which is a sad statistic. One of the most difficult things about miscarriage, besides the incredible loss of human life, is that many women will never know the 'why' behind the loss. Most miscarriages are chalked up to either a genetic issue or a fluke of nature, which is not always a satisfying answer. It is true also, that no woman wants to go through a miscarriage again, so they want to know how they can prevent a miscarriage in their future.
This is why we are doing this podcast today. We want to give a path forward, a proactive and positive approach for what to do after the loss of a baby. We will give practical and proactive steps to take for cycle tracking, and other areas to look into with your hormonal health, to optimize your body and fertility for a future pregnancy.
Check out Bekah's new podcast For The Love of Hormones! Also, her website is full of amazing education and opportunities to learn more about your beautiful body.
