Death & grief in our career endings: solo “note to self” episode
I’m excited to share the first of my solo “notes to self” that will accompany the week’s main episode in a “dead conversation” with each of my guests.
After Priya Joi and I spoke to the ending of our high profile careers in the UN and Formula 1 respectively in Episode 5. I share more of my story of how I came to decide to end my 14 year corporate career in the entertainment industry. Plus the grief that I felt after I had left.
I end the episode with tips and support if you are navigating a similar personal death in life. Plus my note to self, that I wrote in reflection after chatting to Priya.
If you haven’t already, make sure you check out Episode 5 with Priya Joi, which inspired this.
If you loved this episode, please don’t forget to rate and subscribe. It really helps me get the word out.

Priya Joi: Navigating the mini deaths in our life and career
In our lives, we go through mini deaths as our identities shift - which are fundamental to our growth.
While we often might not have consciousness of them as they are happening, it can be profound to bring that awareness into these endings. Ensuring that you are in the driving seat of your life and curating that next chapter in a way that is meaningful to you.
Today I'm joined by Priya Joi, a coach for freelancers, author and journalist.

Katie Gray: finding presence in times of discomfort and pain
In times of discomfort and pain, how can we engage and lean forwards in love? Instead of leaning away in fear.
Katie Gray is an author, singer, producer, counsellor and elder care giver. We explore how Katie's journey of recovery from addiction led her to create The Empowered Heart. A method of empowerment from our ability to understand ourselves and remain present and grounded through the experience of life - no matter how painful and challenging it may be.
Our conversation also flows into what Katie calls the Elder World. Speaking to the power when we can slow down and be with our Elders.

Kristianah Fasunloye: "I wanted you to know that you were not alone"
In episode 2, I welcome a dear friend Kristianah Fasunloye to talk about the power of community connection and care in loss.
Kristianah and I share lived experience having been through TFMR (termination for medical reasons) and the lifelong grief of losing our babies in pregnancy.
When I messaged Kristianah on the way home from the hospital after our devastating scan, she was right there alongside me. With her words, "you can get through this," the ones that changed everything for me.

My tattoo of grief is lifelong baby: my TFMR story
Let's bring conversations about death out of the shadows and into the mainstream, where it belongs. Because along with birth and change, if there is one thing that will happen to us all - then death is it.
In episode 1, I share my why for Death on the Daily. My personal story of the devastating death and then stillbirth of our baby girl, Ngākau Raiona (lioness heart) 5 months into pregnancy.
Having felt so alone at points in my grief journey, I know how crucial these conversations are.
