47: Being Patient with Yourself Through the Healing Process - with Julia Rose, Creator of "How Am I Feeling?"

Julia Rose is the Creator of the Instagram page and blog, "How Am I Feeling?"In Julia's words: "HAIF first began in 2015 as a journal and a self reflection exercise. I had been struggling a lot with my mental health. After realizing this was something that was important to take care of, I started to ask myself, 'How am I feeling?' as a way to 'decode' or label my emotions. I was extremely lost at the time then and I didn't exactly know where to start, but this gave me some kind of starting point. However, the whole journal thing didn't last very long. I still had no idea how to make sense of anything I had been through. I felt like I needed other people to join in on the conversation, which led to the creation of the blog. Soon after, art submissions were added as well."Now, the project acts as a resource for other people who may be looking for a community, a place to share their story, or the words to make sense of their own experiences. In this episode, Julia shares what she's learned since starting HAIF. She explains how she found value in community and connecting with others who may share similar experiences. We also touch on the importance of being patient with yourself through the healing process and overall, in life. It's vital that we all reflect on our emotions and find an outlet to help us explore our internal feelings. Julia explains the beauty in making peace with how we feel and understanding where certain emotions of ours come from.If you'd like to submit your work (art or writing) to the "How Am I Feeling?" blog or Instagram page, you can visit the links below.FOLLOW HAIF: INSTA: @howamifeelinggBLOG: https://howamifeeling.orgSTAY CONNECTED:INSTA: @trustandthriveTIKOK:@trustandthriveTWITTER: @trustandthriveFACEBOOK: bit.ly/FBtaramontWEBSITE: www.tara-mont.comEMAIL: trustandthrive@gmail.com

45: Overcoming People-Pleasing & Being Okay with Saying No

Do you think you're a people-pleaser? In this episode, I share the many signs that you may be a people-pleaser and ways to overcome it. Through research, I found that many of us fear saying no and feel that it's our responsibility to make others like us. At the end of the day, we all want to be liked, but we must respect ourselves enough to set boundaries. Growing up, I was always a people-pleaser. I constantly felt like I had to say yes, make sure everyone was okay, and often sacrificed my own happiness to accommodate to others. I recently found this to be very unhealthy and have been working on balancing being considerate, while also setting boundaries and respecting my own time.Within the past few years, I have gained the confidence to be okay with not being everyone's cup of tea. Living a life revolved around external validation is exhausting, and keeps us from being true to ourselves. We can't control how others react and feel. It's time to let go of guilt, connect with our inner selves, and make genuine decisions based on our values.STAY CONNECTED:INSTA: @trustandthriveTIKOK:@trustandthriveTWITTER: @trustandthriveFACEBOOK: bit.ly/FBtaramontWEBSITE: www.tara-mont.comEMAIL: trustandthrive@gmail.com

39: Moving On & Not Dwelling on Past Mistakes

Have you ever had one of those days, weeks, moments where everything seemed to go wrong? You may have made a little or big mistake, and can't get over it.  We've all been there. It's so easy to feel frustrated with yourself or a situation, and feel the desperate urge to want to turn back time. In this episode, I open up about a recent mistake I made and my process going through it. In the big scheme of things, this mistake was not a big deal - but in the moment, it was hard to deal with. At first, I let this mistake define my character and my worth. I had to remind myself that we're all human and make mistakes. Dwelling on what could have been done differently does not change the situation itself. Therefore, I chose to discuss the importance of letting yourself feel consciously upset and frustrated for a certain period of time - and then moving on and taking charge. Instead of dwelling for too long, we must take action and find a solution. I also talk about accepting one's mistakes and learning from them. At the end of the day, successful leaders look for solutions, instead of simply dwelling. If you can relate, I'd love to know! My contact links are below. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the show overall or specifically this episode. Thank you so much for listening and for being a part of the TRUST & THRIVE journey. I truly appreciate you.
