Grace + Boundaries: Navigating Intergenerational Trauma with Erin Hearts
Erin Hearts
Grace + Boundaries is a weekly memoir in a podcast! Follow host, Erin Hearts, as she shares how she navigates trauma while setting boundaries from her higher self. Traumas, big or small, can add up to broken relationships within a family. These traumas continue being passed down until we take steps to repair and mend our broken hearts with self-care and psychological education. Gaining emotional maturity is also a large part of the path towards grace and boundaries. Erin has walked the path of trauma recovery for the past decade, and is learning day by day how to evolve from the hurt she feels in order to become the graceful, loving woman she has always intended to be. Erin has a Master's degree in Education, creatively teaches middle school, is a musician, and loves being a single mom to her tweenaged boy. Grace + Boundaries has been the name of this podcast since July 2023. From November 2021- June 2023, this podcast was called "Self-Care for Survivors of Trauma." This podcast is a community of honest, open-minded survivors of all types of trauma, big and small. Each week, host Erin Hearts will discuss an aspect of self-care- emotional, physical, spiritual, etc.- and share how she navigates life's challenges by doing special things for herself and making time for herself each day. Erin believes that learning how to take care of ourselves is the key to healthy relationships with others, and she's devoted the past six years to studying and practicing how to better love and support herself and her loved ones. Erin is a single mom, teacher, musician, and highly sensitive person. Instagram: @iheartserin

Episode 10: EFT (Tapping), Giving up Coffee, and Adult Acne
Today I discuss how I use the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), sometimes called "tapping," to help me feel my feelings and get to that place of cry. EFT helps repave our brains towards healthier connections. Neuroplasticity is amazing!!! It's helping me heal my trauma. I share a story about how I recently gave up coffee and how that led me to overeating and angry, inflammatory acne. Giving up a drug revealed a new layer of emotion/negative thought pattern that had been suppressed inside of me from formative years. I also share a listener review and discuss how following out intuition is an adventure worth taking! We never know what's around the next corner when we try tiny new things. A one degree turn can change a life's trajectory! I've witnessed this many times now and it's marvelous! YOU can be the one you've always wanted to take care of you. Healing is possible! Episode 7: Stay or Go?
Should I stay or should I go? This is one of the hardest choices to make in a relationship be it a love relationship, a friendship, or even relationships with family. Staying or going might be an even harder decision for survivors of trauma, since we may have had less examples growing up of what a healthy relationship and healthy conflict looks and acts like. Today I'm going to discuss the book Should I Stay or Should I Go? A Guide to Knowing if Your Relationship Can- and Should- Be Saved and how it helped me decipher my way out of my eight-year marriage. I give some top signs that led me to my decision to leave, and I share some of the best advice from the book on how to tell if you're in a relationship that can handle growth, or if you're stuck in a dead-end cycle. Episode 6: Are you an HSP?
Are you a Highly Sensitive Person? One out of five humans (and animals!) are innately more sensitive than the rest of the world. Identifying these traits helps me accept and validate the times that I have felt different when I have been slower or more emotive than the others around me. Being highly sensitive is not celebrated in American culture, and can lead people like me to have felt less-than or different in the past. Reading about HSP's helps me learn more about myself and realize the positive qualities I have with this increased sensibility. HSP's are artistic, creative, and deep thinkers. We might notice things in our world that others miss. We might appreciate art and music to a greater extent than non-HSP's.
