Episode 94 - Marc Morris

Marc Morris is a nationally ranked powerlifter. He's competed successfully in Men's physique, he's highly educated with a Ph.D. in Human Nutrition, and over 10 years of experience as an online nutrition coach. He's been lifting weights since the age of 16 and has always been hyper focused towards getting to where he wants to be. He's an academic who lifts. There's more to Marc though. We talk about seeing what someone else has, or where someone else is in their life and just wanting it so bad that you essentially replicate it and where that works and where we need to just figure out who WE are and just be that. We talk about how important it is that our biggest passion is in something greater than ourselves, and not just in making ourselves into who we think we should be. Marc talked about losing his dad suddenly due to a heart attack, he talked about his wife's battle with cancer shortly after they got married and how she shared her journey to help others going through the same thing. He talked about becoming a dad, and navigating post secondary wondering what it had in store for him. For being a pretty stoic dude he really opened up in this episode which meant a lot to me. Near the end I made sure to get him to talk about nutrition for a couple minutes to keep this on par for the course as a fitness podcast. But then we brought it back to the things in life that make him feel like he's living it to the fullest. Dr. Marc Morris, is the founder of Polyhealth as well as being a certified strength coach. I hope you enjoy this episode, please share The Lifestyle Chase with a friend. To learn more about what Marc brings to the table by looking him up online simply by googling him, because he's a pretty popular guy, or listening to his episode with my friends at The Fitness Devil Podcast. He's good people. Thanks for listening! Get full access to Insight by Chris Liddle at chrisliddle.substack.com/subscribe

Episode 93 - Laurel Clouston AKA Laur Elle

Here is some backstory into how I found Laurel. Back when I was a spin instructor at Tru Ride Cycle, Alexa Huntley was a regular in a lot of my 6 AM classes. Bless her heart. That's a tough time to wake up for cardio. In any case, she would be the hype person for her friend, Laurel. So I started following @iamlaur.elle on Instagram. After checking out her music on Spotify, I was like "wow, I like this, this is awesome". As a result, I became a fan. The funny thing is, as a podcast host, you find yourself reaching out to a lot of people living really different lives. They're busy, they have a lot going on. I would have to say for every 5 people I reach out to, to be on the podcast, 1 of them becomes a guest. Initially, I reached out to Laurel in December 2018, but because she has a lot of messages to filter through, it fell through the cracks. December 2019, she found the message and got back to me to see if it was too delayed for a reply. Of course it wasn't, because I had really gotten the hang of the podcast thing by then and her relevancy as a guest was still relevant. In this episode, we talk about gymnastics, fitness, moving around a lot, having parents who work hard for their dreams and for HER dreams. Laurel shares about how she finished her schooling to be a teacher but didn't choose to pursue it. She talks about the feeling of support that she found she needed, she talks about travel, and she talks about moments when she felt joy. You should definitely listen. I added a call to action at the very beginning of the episode, and I'm going to tag some Lifestyle Chase alumni whom I believe can help get Laur Elle out there. You should check out her music. I genuinely enjoy it, she didn't pay me to say that, I promise. Episode 92 - Jill Coleman

I invite you to google, "Jill Coleman Fitness" and see what comes up. It's one of the most efficient intros that I can give her, because she has such a depth of experience in person and online in business and in her personal life. She walks the talk. Instead of the incessant manipulation that can occur in fitness and in life, she demonstrates clear communication, she's learned self awareness, and she's a good human being which goes a long way in my books. She was able to talk about so many of her moments where she learned or had to pivot, or where she had to feel alone, or where she had to lean into a friendship or partnership or a business. There are so many risks that can come up for a person when you are looking for a mentor or a business coach or even looking for a person to share anything in your life with, because of the pursuit of fame or wealth or ego or lack of self awareness. It was a pleasure to bring Jill Coleman on, because she has truly had to pay to play in the industry, and she's become resilient through what she's been through. She has taken no shortcuts in life, and it is truly something worth admiring. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for listening! Get full access to Insight by Chris Liddle at chrisliddle.substack.com/subscribe

Episode 91 - Andrea Rice

Andrea Rice is many things. A former teacher, a runner, a swimmer, a small banana enthusiast, a leader, a learner, a friend, a family member. She has had to adapt and change and pivot whether she expected it or not and in this episode we talk about how much of a struggle that can be when you are used to knowing exactly what to expect or knowing exactly what the future holds. We define what community feels like, rather than focusing on what it's intended to sound like. We talk about growing up and craving the silence of turtles and fishing and cold winters and we talk about Kenora, Ontario. We talk about friendships and social media and having fitness as a non-negotiable. We talk about meditation and journalling and writing nice notes to brighten someone's day. Episode 90 - Pete McGregor

Pete is originally from Glasgow Scotland, moving to Edmonton at a young age he lived a typical young boy life until an impaired driver and a multi-vehicle accident changed his life. After many phases of life as a highly competitive wheel chair basketball athlete and later as a post secondary student trying to live that 9-5 life, Pete McGregor now trains out of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in San Diego. He's a high performer who works his ass off. He trains harder than anyone he faces, often having to compete with more able bodied people and sets himself apart in how he shows up in the world despite what could easily be deemed as a viable excuse. He fights excuses.  That's not to say that he doesn't have the struggles that other people have with finding motivation. It's not to say that he feels ready to kick ass day in and day out, or that he doesn't hear that negative voice in his head telling him to just mail it in or quit. We talk about all that in this episode as well as the coaches that have impacted him, his core values in life, and places that he's really enjoyed travelling to. Please share this episode with a friend, rate in on Apple Podcasts and don't ever take tomorrow for granted, because no matter how good we feel today, tomorrow is not guaranteed. Episode 89 - Carl Paoli on Connection, Community, Feeling Alone, Good People and Staying Positive

I brought Carl Paoli back for another episode. He's done a lot in his life so far and you can learn a little more about him in Episode 71 if you haven't already. A quick google, YouTube, or Amazon search will also help give you some context as to what kinds of things he's done leading up to today. We really leaned into our topics today coming up with questions and answers that weren't necessarily what we are used to hearing. I was inspired to choose these topics based on what my friends on Instagram have shared with me. We talked about how Integrity has become the goto word of 2019 and what that word means to our life's journey when you break it down. We talk about the word Authenticity and how it makes us feel. We talked about finding connection in life and fostering community. We talked about the topic of feeling lonely when not many people around us share our values. We talked about how to see more good and how often we feel that good people are hard to come by. We talked about staying positive during a holiday when you have very few reasons to feel positive. I hope you enjoy, please like and share! Episode 88 - Jason Leenaarts

We covered a lot of material. A LOT of material. For context, Jason's Business, Revolution Fitness and Therapy has been around for a long time. I got to meet Jason at the most recent Fitness Summit at Kansas City. So you might think at first, "oh here's another fitnessy guy talking about fitnessy things and how happy he is that he gets to watch people work out. I bet he's never had to call 911 to say he was worried he was going to die by suicide.". False. And yes, I know that's a little dramatic, but if I didn't point that out, would it get your attention?I think that the topics we cover are going to be helpful to people who listen to The Lifestyle Chase and for people who listen to Revolutionary You for that matter. We talk about how it took 8 months of seeing different therapists for Jason to find the one that essentially saved his life. We talk about what it was like being addicted to drugs for the better part of a decade. We talk about his journey as a dad and what being the father of a child with autism has taught him as a human being. Even just being a father of either of his two very loved children and the dynamics of having two kids with two marriages. I think we spent about 4 minutes talking about fitness marketing as well. So there's that. I really hope you enjoy this episode and share it. Thank you for supporting The Lifestyle Chase and be sure to show Jason some love and check out his new book available on Amazon!  Get full access to Insight by Chris Liddle at chrisliddle.substack.com/subscribe
