Dr. John Delony - The Secret Solution to Managing Anxiety, Fear and Trauma

SO MANY PEOPLE ARE STRUGGLING WITH THEIR MENTAL HEALTH!    Do you ever question yourself as to why the things you have experienced in the past happened to you, and what you could've done to prevent them from happening?   Have you always wanted to meet someone who can pat you on the back and tell you the exact things you need to do to become a better version of yourself?   My guest today is Dr. John Delony. He is a leading voice on relationships and emotional wellness. The newest Ramsey personality. He worked for two decades in crisis response and as a senior leader at multiple universities, and he holds two PhDs -- one in counseling and the other in higher education.   Just like normal people, he also has been through the dark days of his life, overcame all of them, and now helping other people to do the same.   What's John’s journey behind being the newest Ramsey personality? He lived in Texas every day in his life working at colleges and universities. He was a high school teacher, and then he took a job at a university in Nashville. And Dave has his senior leadership team. John gave a talk to a group of parents and students and Dave’s executive vice president was in the audience dropping their daughter off at the school, and they knew they were looking for additional people. And she just said, “That's the guy.” pointing to John.    What does Dr. John think about fear? When it comes to fear, the one thing that served John well is understanding that every brain cell in the body has one job and that's to get to tomorrow.    So we need to always be remembering that the fear scans the fear monitor that's going on everywhere.   And if we don't actively seek to get other inputs, or put that in its rightful place, then it can take over everything. They won't kill us. It will just lead to chronic stress and isolation, and loneliness.   How can loneliness affect a person? It will kill you. Dr. John stated some facts from American Medical Association about how loneliness can kill a person.   What does Dr. John say about the kids/teenagers who had trauma when they were young? Five year old kids should do nothing, but be five.    Kids have no ability to regulate themselves. They do it against other people. That's when they grew up in stressful chaos.   ADHD is not a disease. It's not a brain malfunction. That is your brain doing what it needs to do to protect itself at the moment.   And then there goes the anxiety, which  is just the alarm system. An example of this is a house that's on fire and we spend so much energy trying to turn the alarm off and not addressing the fact that the house is on fire.   What kind of steps should a person take to make sure they're coming out as a better version of themselves? Make a counseling appointment. A statement to yourself in the mirror, “I want to get better and I will get better.” You got to look in the mirror and say, “I'm a person of value, I'm worth getting better.” Connection -- true, vulnerable relationships with God, with your community, with yourself.   Tune in to this episode. I am sure you’ll learn a lot from this awesome guy. He will give answers to some of the questions you didn’t know you wanted to know about. Jennifer Hurvitz - The Unexpected Pain of Divorce (And How to Avoid it)

BEFORE YOU GET DIVORCED, LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE!   Do you feel like your relationship with your partner is falling apart? Or you’re just someone who is afraid of having a failed marriage?   My guest today, Jennifer Hurvitz, has a lot to say about that topic. She is the host of the highly acclaimed Doing Divorce Right (or Avoiding It Altogether) Podcast. She's a best selling author of two books: One Happy Divorce: Hold the Bulls#!t, and Woulda. Coulda. Shoulda.: A divorce coach's guide to staying married.    She has been featured on Oprah, and Oprah touts her as an expert, recommended her books, and said it's the number five best relation book to read with your partner for a happy marriage.   All the things that we will be talking about in this episode are all based on her own experience as a divorced person and as a divorce coach.   How did Jennifer handle the divorce when she was going through it?   Jennifer wrote her first book called, “One Happy Divorce: Hold the Bulls#!t” quickly after her divorce when she was separated. She wrote it more for herself, just for her readers to tell them, “Look, this is what divorce really, really looks like through the eyes of a divorced person.”   For her, the big problem with divorces is that no one really knows what it feels like until someone goes through it. It's a lot like death. It is like a death, only the person is actually alive and you have to see them everyday, and you maybe have to co-parent with them for the rest of your life. You actually go through the stages of death, grieving, anger, and all those things, but you have to be with this person and get along with them. You’re just literally grieving the life that you thought you were going to have.   Her second book called, “Woulda. Coulda. Shoulda.: A divorce coach's guide to staying married” was written basically for everybody else. She wrote that book for everybody who needs to see what divorce looks like through the lens of a divorced person and a divorce coach.   For her, if she would have known then what she knows now, then she may not have gotten divorced. Because it really sucks and the divorce grass ain't greener.    Divorce absolutely sucks for everybody involved. Everybody, especially for the kids.   Did Jennifer regret getting a divorce?   No, she didn’t. Her divorce with her ex-husband went very well. Both of them decided to do things right and put their children first because they are their top priority.   After the divorce, they became best friends.   They may not be the best partner for each other, but they can say it without hesitation that they are the best parents to their kids.   What was the biggest mistake Jennifer ever made?   Dating too soon. She thought she’s ready and she knew everything. Little did she know, her mind wasn’t.    Jennifer’s pieces of advice for the people who do not want to end up getting a divorce: Find out who you are as an individual. You have to take accountability for what you did in your past relationships. You can't always place the blame on someone else. You have to own your s#it, so that you can move forward and be a better human. There's a reason why he/she cheated. For the women, if you don't f*ck your husband, somebody else will. Connect every week, same time, same day. Just like a business meeting, talk about your marriage and really figure out what's good and what's not. Don't look for the right partner. Try to be the right partner, then if you're the right partner for someone, that's how it works. Just let go of the small stuff.   Make sure to tune in to this episode, and I am sure that you will learn a lot from Jennifer -- a woman who has gone through hell and was able to get back on track, and is now trying to help other people who are dealing with the same circumstances she’s gone through. Mike Lee - Why Everyone Should Embrace a Fighter's Mindset (And How to Do it)

Mike Lee: Why Everyone Should Embrace a Fighter's Mindset   Have you ever experienced pain that got to a point where you just want to quit?   My guest, Mike Lee will make you realize that it’s okay to deal with pain and still move forward to reach your goals and continue your fight. He is a well-known professional boxer and was young and undefeated on top of the world at the age of 26.    Last year he fought for the world title against Caleb Plant. Although, he got knocked out in the third round and ended up having his first loss, he knew that it just wasn't his night. It wasn't his fight because even in the whole training camp, he was in so much pain.   Despite all the negative comments he received from a lot of people on social media, he just shrugged it off and moved forward. He is never afraid to fail, because even if he does, at least he can go to bed at night knowing that he went for it. Yes, he lost, but that made him a better human.   What many don’t know is that in the prime of his career, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, spent 2 years in and out of hospital, and got addicted to painkillers especially to Tramadol. He was taking it every single day. For him, during those hard times, that’s the only thing that kept him going. Unfortunately, those pills made him suffer from a lot of side effects -- anxiety, panic attacks, and depression.   He knew that he only got 2 choices in his life. It’s either he will continue taking those pills or change it. That’s when he dove into health and fitness, and CBD is something he discovered as part of that. CBD helped Mike to get back in the ring, and fought eight or nine more fights. He won eight in a row and got to number three in the world.   He co-founded My Soul CBD together with his sister, Angie Lee. CBD helped Mike overcome his anxiety and depression and he is the proof that their products really work. He’s taking it for years already and never tested positive for THC or any other contaminants.   CBD has a lot of good effects in the human body. He believed that what God put on this earth is what's going to heal us from chronic pain.   If you want to know more about CBD and overcoming pain, anxiety, and depression, then you will want to make sure to tune into this episode with Mike Lee. I’m certain that everyone will learn a lot from this guy.   Take this lesson from him: “At the end of the day, you can’t control the cards you were dealt, no matter what situation that is. The only thing you can control is how you play them.”   For people who are listening, if you share this episode and screenshot the episode, tag Mike, tag My Soul CBD and tag me with your top takeaway, I'm going to be giving away some CBD to the person who presents the biggest takeaway. Check down below where you can connect with Mike and My Soul CBD.   Mike Lee bio:    For the last decade, Mike has fought in front of millions in the biggest arenas in the world, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to Madison Square Garden in New York City.   However, his journey as a boxer has had a lot of ups and downs. In the prime of his career he spent almost two years in and out of hospitals battling what he found out was an autoimmune disease that almost ended his career. Fed up with countless hospital visits and years on prescription medication, Mike immersed himself in the wellness world, learning everything he could about nutrition, mindset and most importantly, CBD. With the help of the latter, Mike defied every doctor’s prognosis, and went on to win eight more fights, becoming the #3 ranked fighter in the World and eventually fighting for a World Title last July.   Today, Mike is the CEO and co-founder of Soul CBD, a 7-figure CBD wellness brand, with his sister Angie Lee. With his company, Mike continues to deliver on his mission by helping thousands of people find natural relief from pain, anxiety, and more.   Connect with Mike Lee  Website -http://www.mikeleeboxing.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/MikeLeeBoxing Twitter - https://twitter.com/MikeLeeBoxing Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/officialmikelee/   Connect with Soul CBD Website- https://www.mysoulcbd.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mysoulcbd/   Connect with Doug Instagram: @dougbopst Facebook: Doug Bopst Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Earth Echo Foods/Cacao Bliss: www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order Learn more about your ad choices. Stefanos Sifandos - Confronting the Inner Child (and How to Heal it)

*SUMMARY* In this episode, I engage in an explosive chat with Relationship Expert Stefanos Sifandos who helps us understand the importance of doing the inner work on ourselves as evolving humans. In very simple practical steps, the “Relationship Alchemist” teaches us how to deal with the inner child which keeps most adults stuck in unhealthy cycles and patterns. It’s time to break free. Enjoy the listen!    *SHOW NOTES* There’s a child inside every one of us which needs to be understood and worked upon for wholesome adult life. My Guest on this Episode is Stefanos Sifandos who is well-grounded in Psychology and social behavioral science. As a coach helping others navigate through life, he was faced with his most challenging client- himself. Having gone through cycles of pain in his relationships, disconnect, disharmony, constant self-isolation, anger, an unresolved trauma from childhood, complete neglect for self, and depression, he takes us through his journey and process to wholeness.   In this insightful episode, we discuss the importance of doing the inner work on ourselves and rewriting our harmful patterns as evolving humans so that we can live a whole and truly fulfilling life without keeping up appearances. We delve into the issue of letting go of past trauma and abuse where Stefanos advises us to learn to Feel and not suppress emotions,  Forgive the past, and break free. (Shall we call them the 3 F’s?)   While addressing the issue of societal expectation wherein men are expected to suppress their emotions, he also touches on how he’s helping other men work through unresolved trauma from childhood teaching them to put their ego aside in order to fix their insecurities.    Giving us very practical information, Stefanos analyses the inner child, it’s variants, and how we can address childhood issues which can manifest as different unpleasant emotions in adulthood. Very profoundly, he explains how we seek in adulthood things we didn’t experience from our primary caregivers as children, the struggle to self-regulate as adults and how it affects our relationships with others.   A really outstanding point which Stefanos makes is the fact that we need to get a grasp of self-awareness and not feel ashamed to get therapy, join a group, or read self-help books as long as it helps or speaks to our struggles. He also hints on understanding our attachment styles and how we receive and give love.    We stir the dark waters of porn addiction as a quick fix for insecurities and a numbing of pain that people don’t want to deal with. One thing we definitely both agree upon is the fact that individuals need to do the hard work of dealing with their unresolved issues so as to make better choices in life   Interestingly, Stefanos will be hosting an INNER CHILD WORKSHOP at the end of this month as well as a retreat from 24-28th September 2020 in Austin, Texas. Courtney Friel - Surviving Addiction and a Pandemic as a News Anchor

Courtney Friel: Surviving Addiction and a Pandemic as a News Anchor   Courtney Friel is news anchor, best selling author and sobriety warrior who's been in recovery for more than 10 years. I first met Courtney when I was interviewing different individuals for my book The Heart of Recovery.    Courtney’s recovery journey.  It was a 15 year party lifestyle for Courtney when she was working as a news anchor and reporter.  Courtney had a work hard play hard identity. The parties she attended were characterised by alcohol, cocaine and pills.  It was through an intervention of her husband (now ex) and other friends that she accepted getting into rehab.  But before the intervention, Courtney, having already witnessed so many celebrities die from drug abuse, had already contemplated the thought of sobering up, but lacked the strength to do so.  It was during the aftermath of a party she had attended in Florida where she had passed out half naked on the floor that she finally got the strength and support she needed to attend rehab.  Courtney decided she deserved more than who she had become, and still had so much to give to the world. With one last drink, she said goodbye to the party life and hasn’t looked back ever since.    Staying sober. The one thing that has helped Courtney in her 10 year sobriety journey is that she has a lot to draw from in life.  Through meditating, journaling, yoga, church, parenting, social programs and self-help books, Courtney has enough to keep herself busy and occupied.  One thing that got drilled into her belief system at the rehab program is that alcohol or substance abuse doesn’t help solve any situation. You’re only going to wake up to the same problem, only this time, feeling worse than before.  The best way to fight life’s adversities is to find and practice new tools to manage the stress and anxiety. In time, these tools shape your habits and build your character.  Managing job related stress.  Working as a news anchor and field reporter can be very draining. For Courtney, she’s had to find ways to connect to herself and press refresh when she’s overwhelmed by sad and depressing news stories.  She’s already had newsmayers and emotional hangovers related to the sad stories that she has to report. Stories that have only grown by the numbers during the current pandemic.  But through her different sobriety tactics, Courtney has learnt to live in the present moment and practice gratitude for all that she’s been blessed with.    Having interviewed so many people for both my book and podcast, there’s one  common theme surrounding people that have gotten and stayed recovered. The theme surrounds fitness, spirituality, healthy relationships and self-awareness.  Connect with Courtney Website - http://www.courtneyfriel.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/CourtneyFriel/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/courtneyfriel/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/courtneyfriel Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Courtney-Friel/e/B083M4JW9Y%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share   Connect with Doug Instagram: @dougbopst Facebook: Doug Bopst Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Earth Echo Foods/Cacao Bliss: www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order We are also a proud supporter of Belcampo meats  www.belcampo.com Use Promo code "bopst20" at checkout to receive 20% off your order   Learn more about your ad choices. Anthony ONeal - Why You Should Go to College Debt Free (And How To Do It)

Creating Generational Wealth through Financial Education   Anthony ONeal is a bestselling author, speaker and financial expert who is passionate about helping people make better decisions in regards to their money and higher education in order to live a healthy and prosperous life.    Anthony is also passionate about fitness, a hobby that he owes a lot of his mental strength to. Fitness has taught him the power of his mind in creating and establishing new habits. Once it’s done in the mind, the body can automatically do what’s required.    Making bad choices.  Growing up, Anthony only had two major conversations with his parents. How to respect the law of the land, and the religious law. His parents never gave him any serious talks or lectures about how to handle his finances.  Inevitably, Anthony dived right into taking personal and student loan debts to finance a life that he couldn’t afford or need. And this would eventually cost him his college experience.  His father told him that as a man, he had to live with the consequences of his choices, and wasn’t allowed to go back home.  This would be the start to a 6 month adversity experience where Anthony slept in the back of his car and on the floor of his friends’ houses.  Things changed when he decided to give his future some serious thought. He realised that the calibre of his future would be determined by the choices he was going to make in the present moment. He stopped pointing fingers at the people that he blamed for his misfortunes and decided to take action.  Anthony made a decision to change his life completely, and travel around the world to teach young people how to avoid similar financial mistakes to his.    Student crisis.  $100,000 - $200,000 is the average of student loans that a lot of young adults graduate with in America.  A lot of these students believe they can pay off the debt within 3 years after graduation, but studies show that 65% of them are still paying the debts off 12 years later.  It’s for this reason that Anthony advocates for being wise when you pick the path to higher education. What matters isn’t where you study, but the kind of person that you are after graduating. Community colleges, Military schools and Trade schools aren’t as fancied as top colleges like Havard, but they’re still a very great way to educate yourself.  Life education has different sources, ranging from online courses, working experience, and free scholarships. What’s of importance when deciding your future is examining the best route that you can take according to your personality, and use it to grow and earn profits.  Financial Education.  Racial wealth gap based on a recent study shows that for every $100 that a white caucasian owns, the average African American has $5.48 .  Although there’s a lot of factors contributing to this, Anthony pinpoints mindset to why other races lag behind others. What you should focus on is controlling what you can, and doing the most with the little income that you have.  Learn to live below your income and educate your siblings, friends and relatives on the importance of financial discipline in everyday life.    You can take the $140 Dave Ramsey Personal Finance course free for the first 14 days by visiting https://www.daveramsey.com/blog/a-message-of-hope  Connect with Anthony O’neal Website - https://www.anthonyoneal.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/aoneal/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/AnthonyONeal Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/anthonyoneal/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/anthonyoneal Connect with Doug Website - www.dougbopst.com Instagram - www.instagram.com/dougbopst We believe in eating only the best organic, humanely and high quality meat there is. Sal Di Stefano - Building a Business Based on Integrity and Teamwork

Building a Business Based on Integrity and Teamwork Sal Di Stefano is one of the three podcast hosts of the highly acclaimed Mind Pump Podcast. They sell workout programs to their clients through the Mind Pump Media brand.    Sal’s bio As he was getting into high school, Sal had a frail, slim body which sprouted a lot of insecurities in him.  Always solution oriented, Sal had a growth mindset that pushed him into working out as a way to change his physique.  Exercise has ever since been the gateway and foundation to Sal’s personal growth journey. With exercise, the results are always black and white. If you put in the work on a consistent basis, then you’ll see the results for yourself.  Having grown up as a child of 2 Sicilian immigrants, Sal through his parents learnt what it means to be hardworking and honest.  He grew up responsible and passionate about helping people because he always took care of his three younger siblings.    Fitness training.  When he started out, Sal was mostly focused on how he can best build his business and make profit. This made him push his clients to work with him more if they needed results.  After digging in deep and finding the reason why he got into fitness training, Sal changed his business model. He decided that it was more honest if he helped people become a better version of themselves with or without his help.  He then pivoted to training his clients into adapting a fitness lifestyle that helped them make a habit out of exercise.  For Sal, it's important to train and coach your clients with the truth. Effective training methods that help your clients in the long term are better than intense exercise models that only help them in the short term.     Mind Pump Sal  While working as a fitness trainer, Doug (who is now a producer of the Mind Pump Podcast) was recommended to him by a chiropractor because of a back problem.  As an effective communicator, Sal was able to convince Doug into a healthy training model in contrast to Doug’s suggestions (Suggestions Doug had picked up from tabloid training media platforms) 6 months into the training and Doug’s back was not only healed, but Doug was also lifting twice his weight at the gym.  Doug loved Sal’s effective communication skills that he suggested online selling for his gym products.  Sal, motivated by a New England Journal of Medicine article he had recently read, was able to draft Maps Anabolic - a work out program that he intended to sell online.  Before launching the program, Sal reached out to Adam (A first rising fitness trainer whose reputation had crossed Sal more than a couple of times). Adam was more than impressed by the new Maps Anabolic program, and was interested to be a part of it.  The trio (Sal, Adam and Doug) then met at Adam’s house and planned to launch a podcast as a way to build an audience and establish authority.  Mind Pump Podcast was a total success. They produced 5 episodes a week for a full year and built so much value and authority that Maps Anabolic’s launch needed very little marketing.    Teamwork.  The trio are great innovators and always coming up with new ideas every time they’re together. This has proven to be a challenge as they have to be able to say no to some great ideas in order to focus and grow on one idea at a time.  The creativity and innovation of the trio is coupled with a lot of debate and arguments. But the one thing that always holds them together and makes them stronger is support for each other. They back whichever idea has been opted by the majority and support it till the end.
