#70 - Healing pounds: Are they necessary and how much is too much? with Libby Wescombe and Craig McDonald

One thing I love about the pro-metabolic community is that I’ve made so many new friends.Everyone is just so friendly and supportive, probably because they eat carbs and sugar 🤣I’ve actually got this great chat group going in Whatsapp with @libbywescombe, @amykatebowe and @leilalutz.I've had all of them on the podcast so if you haven't listened to their episodes I recommend you do.They’re not only super knowledgeable but just awesome women. We pretty much chat daily and I often hear Libby and Craig have little rants about the same things which makes me laugh 🤣But in all seriousness I love how passionate and knowledgeable they are about all things training and body composition change. One thing I hear both of them talk about quite a lot is all the women that come into their programs who have gained a lot of weight after transitioning to a pro-metabolic diet because they believe they need healing pounds. So I thought I ‘d get them on to talk about healing pounds and more specifically:➡️What are healing pounds?➡️When are they necessary?➡️When are they unnecessary and how can you limit fat gain when shifting to a pro-metabolic diet➡️Why eating more isn’t always the answer➡️Why tracking your food intake is so important if you want to limit fat gain➡️How to shift your mindset around food tracking if you find it restrictive or can’t be consistent➡️They type of training you should be focusing on if you want to limit fat gain➡️The misconception that women will look too muscular with weight training➡️One of the biggest reasons women aren’t making progress in the gym➡️Why standardising reps is important➡️How walking/aerobic activity helps recovery and the type of cardio every woman should be doing daily➡️Why it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach and where many women go wrong when shifting to a pro-metabolic dietSo if you’re a woman who’s struggled with fat gain when moving to a pro-metabolic diet you’ll love this episode.Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #69 - Plant based diets: Are they the healthy choice or just a front for disordered eating with Chlo Catherine

Chlo is a Dynamic Eating Psychology Coach and Therapeutic Nutrition Counselor. She has an inspiring story and comes from a pretty intense vegan and disordered eating background. She spent 11 years battling her body suffering from orthorexia, anorexia, amenorrhea and exercise addiction.Once she found pro-metabolic eating and added animal products back into her diet she got her period back, restored her metabolism and transformed her relationship with food.Today, Chlo lives on this huge property in California with her family. They make their own jam and have their own beehives and chickens. She’s super passionate about helping women heal their relationship with food and their bodies, restore their metabolisms, break free from restrictive diets and get their periods back.I get a lot of questions from women about going vegan or plant based so I thought I'd get Chlo on the show to discuss the downfalls of these diets and why they really aren't that healthy. In this episode, we chat about:➡️The nutritional deficiencies that are most common with plant based diets and the nutrients that are only found in animal products➡️Why animal foods are superior when it comes to protein➡️The dangerous idea that what you eat makes you a good or bad person➡️How we’ve accidentally started equating low calories to meaning “healthy”➡️Why nuts aren’t the best in large amounts➡️If you can’t tolerate something like dairy you need to ask yourself why your body can’t digest it and fix the root cause and,➡️Why being flexible with your food is importantHappy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #68 - Finding Fulfilment with Vic Hoskin and Nicole Wagner

8 years ago I worked on a mine site for a large blue chip mining company. It was a FIFO role where I only worked 5 months of the year, I was paid well and I had amazing benefits.BUT I wasn't happy, I didn't feel fulfilled and I knew I needed to leave but I felt trapped because I was paid so well and I was scared to start again. Then I met Craig and found we had a shared love for training and nutrition PLUS he was also unhappy in his job.So after 6 months together we decided to buy into a failing gym and leave our current jobs. Some people thought I was crazy 🤣Things didn't work out with our business partner so we bought her out and I remember lying in bed one night thinking what the Fk have I done 🤣In the last 8 years we’ve lost money and made many mistakes, but we came out the other side, we put the work in, and today, we have the privilege of being able to do what we’re passionate about.I love helping other women, and I can truly say that our company and our work bring me so much fulfillment in my life. Yes it's stressful at times and of course it has it's ups and downs but I wouldn't change a thing.Have you ever felt unfulfilled in your work? In life?I know many women feel the same so I thought I'd bring on Vic my Ops Mgr and Nicole our Savvi leader to share their stories and talk about finding the courage to make that change and find fulfillment in work and life.In this episode, we discuss:➡️Work-life balance and being a working mum➡️Vic and Nicole’s inspiring stories➡️How good things can come from making big changes➡️How you have to make short-term sacrifices for long-term gains➡️Why you need to take responsibility for the choices you make➡️And more!Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #65 - How do I lose body fat & get that 'toned' look? with Craig McDonald

But Kitty I don't want to look muscular I just want to tone up.I've had quite a lot of women message me in the last few weeks saying they don't want to lift weights and become to muscular they just want to lose weight and tone up so wouldn't it be better to do pilates, yoga, classes, bootcamps and run??I went into a store at ferry road a few months ago and the lady said to me "oh you have such a wonderful figure what do you do? running and yoga?"I get it I used to think the same thing. I spent so many years doing HIIT, bootcamps, running for miles, classes and circuit type workouts trying to lose weight and 'tone up'.So I thought I'd sit down with @iamcraigmcdonald and discuss exactly what you need to do to lose body fat and 'tone up' in a healthy and sustainable way, what we cover:👉What does toned actually mean?👉The difference between weight loss, fat loss and body recomposition👉How do you build muscle👉The number one reason most women are not making progress in the gym (getting stronger & building muscle)👉Why weight isn't always a great indicator of progress👉How do you know if you're ready for a fat loss phase?👉What biofeedback and health markers should you be looking at before starting a fat loss phase?👉Why is reverse dieting important after a fat loss phase?👉What if I've just had a baby and I'm breast feeding should I do a fat loss phase?👉What about cardio?Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #64 - Getting Back to Basics and Listening to Your Body with Amy Bowe

When I first found pro-metabolic eating I had become so out of tune with my body. I wasn't hungry in the morning, so I would skip breakfast. When I was hungry I was scared to eat because I thought I would gain weight. I trained regardless of how I was feeling because again, I thought if I didn't train and do cardio every day I would gain weight. For 17 years of my life when it came to food I always thought that less was better and when it came to training I always thought that more was better 🤣 and if you've followed me for a while you'll know that it set me up with irregular and painful cycles, poor sleep, digestive issues, my hair was falling out and was obsessed with how I looked, what I weighed plus I was a chronic binge eater. Thank goodness I found @thenutritioncoach and Ray's work and @iamcraigmcdonald taught me how to strength train. As I started implementing what I learnt from Emma and Craig I finally got in tune with my body. I learnt how to trust it and listen to what it was telling me. I became better at auto-regulating, eating when I was hungry, pushing hard in training when I felt good and taking rest days when I needed them. But how do you actually listen to your body and get to a place where you can trust it and auto-regulate? This is exactly what Amy and I discuss in this episode.Specifically, we chat about:➡️What does “listening to your body” mean?➡️How to check in with your body and re-create this connection➡️Why you need to understand basic science and info about the metabolism➡️How consistency plays a part and how you can start being consistent➡️How to plan your training and eating according to how you feel➡️Why tracking helps during the early stages of re-creating this connection➡️And more!Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #60 - The voice in our head and how to harness it with Ethan Kross

How many times has the voice in your head led you down a rabbit hole of negative self talk?"I’m not good enough"“I’m not smart enough”"I can't do this""I’ll fail"“I’m fat"“I hate my body”I've definitely had times where I've doubted myself, times when the negative voices have crept in and taken over my thoughts. These silent conversations are so powerful. They affect our mood, how we feel about ourselves, they can stop us from taking action and they can affect our health. One of my favourite books on how to harness these inner voices is called Chatter, written by acclaimed psychologist Ethan Cross. I loved it so much I thought I'd get him on the show to talk more about these inner voices and share some of the tools you can use to harness them so you can be happier, healthier and more productive.More specifically we discussed:➡️What is “Chatter”?➡️Managing “Chatter”➡️Rituals to manage those voices➡️Success and mindset➡️Using language to change your mindset➡️How it takes practice to overcome that negative self-talk➡️Controlling a thought vs dealing with thoughts that pop up in your head➡️And more!Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield.
