#80 - EFT Tapping with Greta Zukoff
A lot of women come into our program and get results, then there are other women that really struggle. Even though they have the knowledge and support they still struggle to be consistent. They self-sabotage and have a hard time overcoming their own internal stories and dialogue. If you listened to the podcast I did updating everyone on my TTC journey I talked about how EFT really helped me with my anxiety and the feelings that were coming up for me. Greta is an EFT tapping practitioner and a client in one of our programs. One day she messaged me and said "Kitty now you can tell me to fuck off 🤣 but I really think EFT tapping could help you".I think a lot of women 'stuff' feelings or have trauma in their past that they haven't worked through or processed which can affect their ability to be consistent and make lasting change. It really helped me so I thought I'd get Greta on the podcast to talk more about EFT In this episode, we discuss:➡️What is EFT tapping?➡️How EFT tapping works➡️Who can benefit from EFT➡️How emotional experiences as children shape us as adults➡️Why EFT tapping addresses self-sabotaging and limiting beliefs➡️What to expect at an EFT tapping sessionHappy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #79 - The scary truth about Hormonal Contraception with Amanda Montalvo
I get so many questions from women doing our program and challenges about taking hormonal birth control, including the pill, IUD, depo shot, and more.I actually took the pill for many years. I didn’t understand why it was so important to ovulate and have a period. The doctor never warned me, and I didn’t do any research on it back then. I just thought it was convenient to not have a period, and at the time, I didn’t want to fall pregnant. So I thought I'd get Amanda on the podcast to talk about how birth control interferes with your hormones and why having a healthy ovulatory cycle is so important for all women even if you don't want to fall pregnant. In this episode, we discuss:➡️How the menstrual cycle works➡️Why ovulation (and progesterone) is so important➡️How birth control suppresses ovulation➡️How the menstrual cycle offers insights into your overall health➡️What happens when you stop taking the pill➡️How a woman becomes estrogen dominant➡️How stress impacts the menstrual cycle and ovulation➡️The effects of alcohol on the menstrual cycle➡️How IUDs interfere with your hormones➡️Symptoms from birth control and synthetic hormones➡️Why it takes time to get your hormones back on track after birth control (and how much time it typically takes)➡️How you can support your body when coming off of birth controlHappy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #78 - From Paleo & 1200 calories to Pro-metabolic eating with Trish Del Girolamo
Are you a woman who's used to living off low calorie and low carb diets to control your weight?Have you thought about dipping your toes in pro-metabolic eating but feel scared to increase your calories and start eating carbs and dairy again? Are you sick of punishing yourself with grueling cardio and training sessions 6-7 days per week to maintain your weight? If this is you then I’m sure you can relate to Trish's story.Trish is 52, married with one daughter and lives in Melbourne. She’s done almost everything from 500-calorie and 1200-calorie diets and Jenny Craig to avoiding carbs altogether and going full Paleo for two years in an effort to improve her health. When she first started pro-metabolic eating she struggled to introduce carbs and dairy and was terrified of gaining weight if she increased her calories. In this podcast she shares her journey including how she successfully introduced carbs and dairy back into her diet, how she trains, the cardio she does, her mindset struggles, how long it's actually taken her to reach her goals and finally how she succeeded and now eats 2000 calories per day and is fitting back into her size 8 clothes.Trish even says herself, “I probably would’ve crashed and burned.” Yet, now she loves herself, has newfound confidence, and says there is no looking back! For women debating finally letting go of restrictive diets and punishing cardio, Trish says “This is a better way of life. This is the right way of life. This is the way we should all be living and eating.”Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #77 - There's more to healing than a pro-metabolic diet with Kate Deering
In this podcast, Kate and I get deep and personal. We share aspects of our stories and how emotional stress and our thoughts have affected health. A lot of women think if they get their training and nutrition down pat, everything will be great.....and yes it's a great start and definitely foundational when it comes to healing but there is more to health than just the physical. So, if you’re doing everything right but things aren’t falling into place like you thought, give this episode a listen. You aren’t alone. We all struggle, we experience shame, and beat ourselves up from time to time. The truth is there is ALWAYS going to be stress in your life, and finding ways to build our resilience and navigate through it is so important for obtaining health, happiness, and balance.Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #76 - Update to falling pregnant at 40 with Kitty Blomfield
This is the first solo podcast I’ve ever done! I wanted to do this to provide a quick update on my falling pregnant at 40 journey. I’ve had so many people ask me how it’s going and to share more about it so I thought I’d hop on and update everyone. The 18 months have been one of self-discovery, to say the least. When I set my sights on something, I’m all in, and trying to fall pregnant was no different....which in this case was to my detriment. This is one of the most raw and vulnerable podcasts I've ever recorded.I share everything from my anxiety, to sleepless nights, to feeling like a complete failure.Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #75 - Constipation is a metabolic issue with Emma Sgourakis
It’s probably best if you aren’t eating for this one. So, put your fork down and get ready to find out how you can improve the all-too-common problem of constipation and start pooing regularly.Prior to meeting Emma, I actually wouldn’t go to the bathroom for 2-3 days at a time. I just thought this was normal (it’s not), and I see so many women having the same issue. But really, there’s nothing more satisfying than a good poo! You just feel lighter and less weighed down. There are also a heap of reasons why it’s important to go regularly. In this episode, we talk about:➡️ How constipation is linked to low metabolic function➡️Why it’s important to have one or more bowel movements per day➡️What happens when you don’t go➡️Why common recommendations to improve constipation don’t actually fix the root cause➡️Tips for improving digestion and eliminating constipation➡️What foods you should reduce➡️The importance of movement and sun for regular bowel movements➡️The special foods that can remove excess estrogen and endotoxins from the intestines and act like a scrubbing brush➡️Stress and how it affects your bowel movements and digestion➡️Using magnesium and cascara for constipationHappy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #74 - Losing 14kgs & beating Hashimotos with Margie and Sarah
Many women who struggle with autoimmune conditions make things worse by doing all the crazy diets as they try to lose weight and feel better. This is why I wanted to have Margie (a long-time client turned big sister in the WinAtLife program) and her niece, Sarah, on the podcast. Both Margie and Sarah have autoimmune conditions. Margie has spondylosis arthritis, and Sarah has Hashimotos. Yet, they’ve both managed to put their autoimmune conditions into remission.Looking at Margie, you would have no idea she is 56 years old. She has amazing skin, great hair, and looks incredible (which she attributes to all the liver, collagen, oysters, and other great food she’s been eating). Sarah is a 36-year-old, single mum, who is studying part-time, and so far, has lost 14 kgs in our program. What these two women have achieved is so amazing, so I wanted to get them on here and share their incredible stories in hopes to inspire others to do the same.In this episode, we chat about:➡️Margie and Sarah’s individual journeys➡️What they eat on a day to day basis➡️How many calories they are eating day to day (the answer might surprise you)➡️The changes they have made and how they have shifted their mindset to play the long game➡️How tracking their food has been key in their success➡️How they train and the type of cardio they do daily➡️Advice for women just starting this journey➡️And tips for women who are struggling with being consistent.Happy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #72 - Debunking Common Preconception and Pregnancy Myths with Loren & Brit
A few months ago I sat down with Loren and Brit creators of Conscious conception - the ultimate guide to prepping for pregnancy.I’ve actually had a lot of messages asking me about whether I'm still trying to conceive so I I’m planning to sit down and record a solo podcast in the next few weeks with an big update. It's been a very interesting 12 months, it’s been super challenging and it's probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.So if you’ve been wondering where I'm at look out for that podcast I’ll release it in the next few weeks. When Brit and Loren released their course I was lucky enough to be one of a handful of people to go through it before it before it was released and I was so impressed.I often get asked questions about what to eat and how to train not only while preparing for pregnancy but also while pregnant so I thought it would be a great opportunity to get them on to discuss preparing for pregnancy and to debunk some common pregnancy and preconception myths.I’ve actually had Loren on the podcast to talk about anemia and iron overload so if you haven't listened to that one I highly recommend you do. Brit was actually pregnant during the recording of this podcast and she's now had a beautiful girl named Maya rose.In this episode, we chat about:➡️The correlation between health, nutrition, and milk production➡️Your thyroid hormone levels and the neurodevelopment of your baby➡️Why the preconception period is so important for pregnancy and after pregnancy➡️Why pregnancy is stressful on the body➡️The vitamin A and pregnancy myth➡️The best multivitamin for women before, during and after pregnancy➡️What should you know about folic acid and pregnancy➡️Precautions you may want to take with some foods when pregnant➡️Does fertility drop with age➡️Body fat guidelines for fertility➡️Training and lifting during pregnancy and➡️What is a reasonable timeframe to lose the baby weightHappy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield. #71 - Are you a woman killing herself to have it all? with Jim Bostock
We met Jim 7 years ago when Craig had a shoulder issue no one could fix.I remember it got so bad he stopped all upper body training for months. He saw numerous physios and specialists and no one could give him an answer or provide any relief from the pain.A friend referred us to Jim and within 3 visits Craig was pain free and back training.Jim is a physio by trade but has developed a nerve lock release therapy to treat pain. He's worked with numerous high profile athletes and celebrities not only in Australia but around the globe. We’ve sent 100's of people to Jim over the last 7 years, including my own mother and brother in law.I’ve done a podcast with Jim previously and when I went out to our audience asking who they wanted me to interview, Jim was on the list.Through his work he gets to talk with women who often share how unhappy they are in their relationships, career and life and struggle to do it all, especially when they have kids.So we thought we’d get together and talk about relationships, communication and why women are killing themselves to have it all.Specifically we talk about:➡️How to communicate in a relationship so each person is satisfied➡️The overlapping of masculine and feminine roles today and how this can increase stress➡️How sacrifices may need to be made to truly be happy➡️Finding a balance between work and kids➡️How to put your ego aside for honest and truthful communicationHappy listening I hope you find this podcast helpful and don't forget to take a screenshot of the episode and share it on Instagram stories and tag me at @kittyblomfield.
