#15: BE STRONG with Neil Allman on Program Design, Kids and Weightlifting, and Goal Setting

Neil Allman was my very first strength coach in 2010. He believed in me before I believed in myself, and mentored me through my first CrossFit Coaching position. He taught me that hard work and curiosity can get you to the goals you want to accomplish, and I consider him one of THE BEST coaches there is. Although the audio is nowhere near perfect, I hope you enjoy my episode with one of my favorite people in the world as we talk about program design, gaining weight while aiming for strength, and when to start kids weightlifting! You can find Neil's passion project, the Mighty Movement Academy, here: https://www.mightymovementacademy.com/ Thank you listeners!! #14 BE NERDY with ME! Q&A on Adrenals, Keto, Carbs, and Brain Health

In preparation for my July 10th Challenge I did a shout out to my clients and asked them "WHAT DO YOU WANNA KNOW?" Love these questions and will absolutely be doing this again! Q: Can adrenal exhaustion be truly healed or do you live with it ? And along those lines- how do you know how much exercise is too much? I do fine for a time & then crash... Q: What to eat when you're out to eat with friends (that don't follow the same diet you do) or on the go? (when you don't have your snacks!) Q: I've heard lots of tips on what type of diet (keto, carb-ups, etc) is best for different workouts (crossfit vs endurance) but what about those of us who do a little of all of it? Q: Branching off from the post above, I've had a hard time finding information on whether or not a Keto diet was healthy for someone that is already very petite (for example, I am 5'2 and 113 lbs). I'd love to try it. The benefits sound great, and let's be honest, it's the ideal foods to eat! Haha but I want to make sure that it is safe for my body type. Q: Seeing as how gut health = mental health, any thoughts on Alzheimers?? My dad was diagnosed last year, so naturally I'm a bit freaked out and would love to have a plan for prevention. #8: BE NERDY with Dr. Lauren Koedyk

Dr Lauren Koedyk, a Holistic Chiropractor, with a background in professional cycling and extensive global travel, Dr. Lauren brings an unusually diverse worldview to her practice. Growing up in New Zealand, her mother’s wariness of orthodox medicine taught Lauren to pursue sunshine, fresh produce and herbal remedies as a means to maintain daily wellness. Yet when her grueling athletic pursuits led to injury and illness, she found holistic chiropractic care to be the most potent way to promote her body’s self-healing. After earning a Bachelor of Chiropractic from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic (the equivalent of an American Doctor of Chiropractic), Lauren trained in herbal and nutritional medicine, and functional neurology. Her diverse educational interests led her to travel extensively throughout Asia, and to teach and practice chiropractic around the world. She eventually set down roots in Denver in 2014, founding Nikau Chiropractic as homage to the iconic Nikau trees that line the shores of her native New Zealand. Where to find her: https://www.facebook.com/nikauchiropractic/ www.nikauchiropractic.com Where Em will be: CHICAGO this weekend at The Fit Expo!
