Episode 113 - Why Men Over 40 Need A Strong Pelvic Floor With Jana Danielson
A strong pelvic floor can help with tight hips, back pain, and erectile dysfunction. As a former professional athlete, I know about the importance of it. But only a few guys realize they even have a pelvic floor. Most men think that women are the only ones with a pelvic floor and that it becomes relevant to them when they give birth. Although guys may have heard about kegel exercises or Pilates to strengthen that area of the body, they don’t believe these exercises apply to them. But I have news for you. That little area between the anus and the scrotum is your pelvic floor. You need to strengthen it to improve your sexual drive, the functionality of your bladder, and your performance when you train at the gym or practice sports. So today, I have a guest that is a pelvic floor expert. She is Jana Danielson, a Pilates certified instructor, studio owner, and Amazon Best Selling Author. She has spent many years now educating and training people to make them aware of their pelvic floor and how strengthening it will improve their well-being exponentially. Besides, she’s the creator of the Cooch Ball, the world’s first patented pelvic floor fitness tool for women. She also has some solutions for men, so you don’t want to miss out on her wisdom.Jana introduced me to a three-minute routine I now do daily to strengthen my pelvic floor. After listening to this episode, I’m sure you’ll start doing it too. “You can be rocking a six-pack. That does not mean that the rest of your core is strong, right? So understand that the pieces of the core, if they are not, you know, functionally working together, part of it can be functional, but part of it can be very dysfunctional.” —Jana DanielsonIn This Episode: Jana Danielson’s backgroundPilates as a tool for healingDefinition and function of the pelvic floorWhat happens when your pelvic floor is weak?Erectile dysfunction and its connection to the pelvic floorThe Gooch Ball and how it can help youWhy do we spend 20 hours a day sitting?Resources mentioned: Gooch Ball - https://goochball.com/Connect with Jana Danielson:The Cooch Ball Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thecoochball/Personal Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/Jana.danielson/Connect with Funk Roberts: Website - https://www.over40alpha.com/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/funkrobertsfitnessSubscribe and Listen on iTuneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-over-40-alpha-podcast/id1446632685 Listen to This Episode on Your Favourite Podcast Channelwww.over40alphapodcast.comI want to give a MASSIVE thanks to all who are stepping up and leaving5 star reviews.Your support of the Over 40 Alpha Podcast helps to spread the word and ultimately, change the lives of men all around the world over the age of 40, 50 and 60 that struggle with health and fitnessPlease review and one share at a time.Drop that 5 star review.Get it done - Funk

Episode 110 - Muscle Talk 3 With Funk and Flex - Reverse Pyramid Training
Building muscle is one of the things we struggle with as we get older. This happens because we start to suffer from sarcopenia, the natural muscle loss due to aging. So if we are not consistently in the gym (or at home) engaging in resistance training or building muscle, we will lose our muscles even faster. Unfortunately, the loss of muscle leads to many illnesses and ailments. Some of them are decreased bone density, elevated risk of falls, and slower recovery times. We need to know how to build muscle the right way, which is why I created Muscle Talks and invited coach Flex Marks to this section of the podcast. Coach Flex Marks really brings a different perspective and out-of-the-box training. When he trains people, he gets them results. If you want to naturally increase your testosterone levels, alcohol is one of the first things you need to cut off. Alcohol increases estrogen, the female hormone. Tune in to discover amazing hacks you can utilize to quit alcohol for good, improve your sleep and feel even more SuperHuman. “If you’ve got those five pillars (fun, community, accountability, coaching, and skin in the game), you’ll stop drinking.
