The Educated Meathead - Dr. Chris Marvin
In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Chris “Marv” Marvin. Dr. Christopher (MARV) Marvin DC has been involved in health, wellness and fitness for over 17 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Sonoma State University and his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College West in San Jose, California as class valedictorian. Dr. Marv acquired extensive experience in the physical therapy space during his undergraduate studies, as well as in the corporate gym environment as a fitness coach and specialist. He owned and managed a private training studio, specializing in one-to-one and online training as well as writing. Dr. Marv has had 9 surgeries, multiple broken bones, muscle/ligament tears, a head injury, etc. yet has found a way to train and progress in the gym for over 17 years – even when multiple medical professionals told him he should simply give up the gym and other hobbies such as playing guitar. If you can think of a specific injury, he’s probably personally dealt with it or at least rehabbed in office. His personal story is one of the main reasons why he is so obsessed about helping folks continue to improve their quality of life and performance no matter what they are facing – primarily as a performance chiropractor, but also as an online coach and educator. He plans to launch an app as well as a re-write of his nutrition book/course in 2025 while continuing to grow his performance chiropractic office.We Discuss:What is the educated meathead? Strongman, Coaching and Personal Development - Chad Coy
In this episode, I sit down with World Class Strongman Competitor and Coach, Chad Coy. Chad is a graduate of Purdue University where he studied Ex Phys and Nutrition. He currently serves as the Director of Affiliate Development for the PARISI Speed School as well as a master coach and educator for the Network. He owns Strength Captain, an online training service focused on strongman/strongwoman.As a competitor, Chad competed in drug free powerlifting and won 2 National Championships and a World Championship before turning his attention to strongman. He was the alternate to WSM in 2001 and captained the US team to the North American Championship as well as the All Nations Challenge in 2003. He is a 3 times Masters America's Strongest man under 40 and 3x runner up and has made 5 trips to the Masters World Championships placing 2nd twice, 5th, 9th and 10th. Quad and Patellar Tendon Rehab - Stuart Locke
In this episode, I sit down with the owner of Kodiak Barbell, Stuart Locke. I coached Stuart for almost 6 years and have seen him grow into one of the most well known coaches in the powerlifting space. Stuart suffered bi-lateral quad tendon ruptures 6 weeks before me and we were both struggling to find helpful and relevant information during the recovery process. After navigating the rehab ourselves, we learned more than we could have ever imagined and collaborated on a robust resource to help others going through quad or patellar tears. Psychology and Building the Coaching Relationship - Tony Montgomery
