In this podcast interview between Brad Williams from Over 40 Fitness Hacks and George Grombacher from the LifeBlood podcast, the discussion revolves around three key principles applicable not only to fitness but all aspects of life.
Goals: The first principle emphasizes the importance of setting clear goals. George points out that setting and writing down goals is a crucial step towards achieving them. Goals provide direction and purpose, allowing individuals to work towards their desired outcomes.
Beliefs: The second principle highlights the significance of one's beliefs. George explains that our beliefs shape our actions and outcomes. If you believe in your abilities and potential, you're more likely to succeed. Conversely, limiting beliefs can hold you back.
Habits: The third principle focuses on cultivating positive habits. George cautions against relying solely on shortcuts or hacks, which can lead to inconsistent results. Instead, he emphasizes the importance of building habits that align with your goals and beliefs.
The conversation also delves into financial advice, with three key financial principles:
Pay Yourself First: This principle advises allocating a portion of your income toward savings and financial goals before addressing other expenses. It promotes financial stability and ensures that your future needs are met.
Stay Out of Debt: Avoiding excessive debt, particularly high-interest credit card debt, is essential for financial well-being. George emphasizes the importance of managing debt wisely to prevent it from hindering your financial progress.
Diversify Investments: When it comes to investing, George suggests a diversified approach, rather than trying to beat the stock market. Investing in mutual funds or ETFs can provide more reliable and stable returns over the long term.
The interview also touches on personal experiences, including Brad's journey through business challenges and financial setbacks, highlighting the importance of resilience and adaptability in overcoming obstacles.
In summary, this podcast interview emphasizes the value of setting clear goals, examining and adjusting your beliefs, and building positive habits in various aspects of life. Additionally, it offers practical financial advice aimed at achieving financial stability and growth. Ultimately, it encourages listeners to take control of their lives and strive for improvement, regardless of their age or past experiences.

In this podcast episode, Brad Williams from "Over 40 Fitness Hacks" interviews Dr. Michael Turner, an Integrative Medicine expert, about the importance of HGH (Human Growth Hormone), especially for people over 40. They discuss natural ways to boost HGH levels.
Dr. Turner highlights the significance of HGH, emphasizing its role in stimulating muscle growth, aiding ligament and tendon healing, and promoting fat loss. He describes HGH as one of the most potent fat-burning compounds in the body.
The conversation delves into methods for naturally increasing HGH production. Dr. Turner emphasizes the importance of deep sleep, particularly the deepest stages, as HGH is primarily secreted during this time. He recommends using sleep trackers to monitor and improve deep sleep quality.
Dr. Turner introduces GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid) as a supplement that can enhance HGH release in the brain. He discusses a study that demonstrated a 30% increase in HGH release when athletes took 3000 milligrams of GABA before exercise.
Regarding the debate between deep sleep and strenuous physical activity for natural HGH release, Dr. Turner advises prioritizing quality sleep due to its many other health benefits, including reduced oxidative stress, decreased inflammation, and improved mental sharpness. However, he acknowledges the benefits of intense anaerobic exercise, like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), in stimulating HGH release.
Dr. Turner's approach to health and wellness is goal-oriented and individualized. He tailors his services to each person's specific goals, whether it's weight loss, testosterone optimization, or other health-related objectives. Dr. Turner operates both online and locally in Washington state, with the majority of his services available online.

In this podcast episode, host Brad Williams from Over 40 Fitness Hacks interviews Dr. Michael Turner, an Integrative Medicine expert, on the topic of anti-aging supplements in 2023. Dr. Turner begins by explaining the importance of understanding the physiological factors driving the aging process. He introduces the concept of telomeres, which are protective caps on the end of DNA strands. Telomeres naturally shorten with each cell division, eventually causing cells to stop dividing.
Dr. Turner then highlights an anti-aging supplement called "Gotu Kola," which has the ability to modify telomere length and help maintain their integrity. This supplement is particularly beneficial for promoting longevity.
The conversation shifts to mitochondrial health, emphasizing the significance of well-functioning mitochondria as the powerhouses of cells. Dr. Turner mentions high-intensity exercise as a key strategy to optimize mitochondrial health. Additionally, he discusses the role of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) as a supplement that enhances mitochondrial function, boosts energy production throughout the body, and serves as an antioxidant. He also notes that CoQ10 can benefit various organ systems and individuals with conditions like chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.
The podcast then delves into the importance of DNA repair in the context of aging and cancer risk. Dr. Turner explains that DNA constantly sustains damage and relies on repair mechanisms to prevent cancerous growth. FOXO genes play a crucial role in promoting DNA repair, and he outlines lifestyle practices like intermittent fasting to stimulate their activity. Dr. Turner introduces EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), a component found in green tea, as a supplement that directly stimulates FOXO gene activity, thus supporting DNA repair.
Brad shares his experience with matcha green tea and EGCG supplementation, noting that EGCG supplements can be a convenient alternative for individuals who experience digestive discomfort with green tea.
Overall, the podcast provides valuable insights into anti-aging supplements, telomere maintenance, mitochondrial health, and DNA repair, offering listeners practical information to support their holistic approach to longevity and well-being in 2023.

Dr. Michael Turner - Integrative Medicine Physician
www.drturner.substack.com
In this podcast episode, Brad Williams from Over 40 Fitness Hacks interviews Dr. Michael Turner, a specialist in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Turner begins by expressing his deep passion for health and his daily commitment to living a healthy lifestyle. He emphasizes that his focus is not on trying to replicate his 27-year-old self's health but on maximizing his health at his current age of 47, recognizing the importance of individual genetics and backgrounds in this journey.
Dr. Turner's interest in health and wellness started during high school when he took a health class and became fascinated by the intricacies of the human body. This fascination led him to adopt healthy habits like running, clean eating, and weightlifting. He also delved into research, exploring questions about protein intake, carb consumption, and supplements.
His educational journey took him to prestigious institutions, including Stanford University for undergrad studies in human biology, Harvard Medical School for further education, and the Mayo Clinic to complete his residency. Despite initially working in a neuroscience center, Dr. Turner later decided to follow his passion for integrative medicine, with a focus on anti-aging, wellness, prevention, and optimizing health rather than just treating diseases.
One of the notable aspects of Dr. Turner's practice is its patient-centric approach. While not strictly membership-based, patients enter into agreements with him for a 12-month period, determining the number of visits and working together on their health goals. This approach offers remarkable convenience, with patients from various locations connecting with him via video calls, making health management more accessible.
Brad Williams and Dr. Turner discuss the benefits of telehealth, allowing individuals to access specialized care regardless of their geographical location. Dr. Turner explains that while he predominantly uses video calls, some patients visit him in person, especially when physical examinations or treatments like injections are necessary.
Dr. Turner clarifies that he doesn't position himself as a primary care physician but rather as a complementary partner to primary care doctors. His focus lies in optimizing health, preventing issues, and exploring naturalistic approaches to health concerns. Patients often seek his guidance on areas like blood pressure management, with a preference for natural solutions over medication when appropriate.

In this podcast episode of "Over 40 Fitness Hacks," Brad Williams, a seasoned personal trainer with over 14 years of experience, takes his listeners through his current daily routine that focuses on overall health, weight loss, and workout strategies. Brad emphasizes that his routine evolves every six months as he continuously learns from health and wellness experts and adapts his regimen accordingly.
Brad's routine is comprehensive, covering his meals, vitamin and mineral intake, as well as his workout regimen. He starts his day at 6:15 AM and follows an intermittent fasting schedule until around 2:00 PM. During his fasting period, he consumes essential amino acids to preserve muscle while fasting. He combines this with a homemade concoction consisting of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and Himalayan sea salt.
His morning routine also includes black coffee, which he consumes later in the morning to allow his body to naturally elevate hormone levels before the caffeine kicks in. At 12:00 PM, he engages in a slow-paced circuit training-style workout on a treadmill with a high incline to maintain muscle mass while in a fasted state.
After his workout, Brad consumes a protein shake with essential amino acids and olive oil to ensure he meets his protein requirements for the day. He advocates the concept of "effective reps" and uses a treadmill while maintaining proper posture and breathing techniques during his workout.
Throughout the day, Brad takes a series of supplements, including vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, zinc, copper, and others. He also relies on an electrolyte powder to balance his sodium and potassium intake.
Brad breaks his intermittent fasting with a meal of dark green vegetables, emphasizing the importance of fiber and olive oil. His dinner consists of more greens and high-quality protein sources. He also incorporates lemon juice and ginger in hot water for post-dinner detoxification and digestive health.
As a dessert and source of antioxidants, Brad enjoys a mixture of berries, including blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. He makes sure to hit his target of 200 grams of protein daily and supplements with probiotics.
Brad's routine also includes drinking hot water throughout the day to boost metabolism and detoxify his body. He acknowledges that routines may vary for individuals, and it's essential to listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional as needed.

He highlights various potential causes of chronic fatigue, including metabolic and endocrine system issues, thyroid problems, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, infections, lung issues, medications, and more. Brad emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing these underlying issues, either through medical consultation or self-research.
Brad then delves into his own experience, revealing that his chronic fatigue was linked to a vitamin deficiency, specifically vitamin D. He discusses the sources of this essential vitamin, such as sunlight, fish, eggs, and mushrooms. Brad mentions that even though he took supplements, they weren't sufficient to combat his deficiency. In this podcast episode, Brad Williams from Over 40 Fitness Hacks shares valuable insights on incorporating transverse abdominal exercises into your daily workout routine. Brad emphasizes the importance of being mindful during workouts and maximizing their effectiveness by increasing time under tension. He introduces the concept of working on the transverse abdominals, which are often overlooked but play a crucial role in core stability and appearance.
Brad explains that the transverse abdominals are a thin layer of muscle responsible for holding organs in place and providing a flatter appearance. He describes various exercises to target these muscles, including stomach vacuums, planks, active hollows, reverse planks, leg raises, and bird dog crunches, all of which require a focus on the stomach vacuum technique.
He encourages listeners to slow down their exercises and maintain mindfulness by engaging the transverse abdominals during every movement, even during common exercises like bench presses or deltoid flies. Brad highlights that this approach not only enhances muscle engagement but also burns more calories and aids in fat loss.
Ultimately, Brad's message centers on the idea that by working on these often-neglected muscles and incorporating mindfulness into your workouts, you can achieve better results, improve core stability, and enhance your overall fitness journey.

In this episode of the "Over 40 Fitness Hacks" podcast, host Brad Williams interviews fellow health coach and podcaster, Brad Carlson. The conversation revolves around the crucial role of mindset in achieving overall health and well-being.
The discussion starts with the idea that where the mind goes, energy flows, emphasizing that what you focus on, you ultimately become. The key insight shared is that many people often focus on losing weight as a means to become healthy, but the reverse should be true: focus on becoming healthy to achieve sustainable weight loss. This mindset shift, according to both Brads, is fundamental to successful health journeys.
The conversation delves into the importance of focusing on various aspects of life to improve overall health. Brad Carlson stresses the significance of generating positive energy and vibrations by focusing on desired outcomes. This shift in mindset involves concentrating on thriving, abundance, love, and happiness rather than dwelling on depression, anxiety, and stress.
Both Brads share personal experiences, highlighting the significance of adapting to changing circumstances and listening to one's body. Brad Williams discusses how his journey shifted from a focus on muscle preservation to prioritizing spinal health and overall well-being after a back injury. Brad Carlson emphasizes the importance of balance, mobility, flexibility, and agility as individuals age, pointing out that muscle mass alone won't ensure a healthy and independent future.
The discussion also addresses the idea of a "health retirement plan," emphasizing the need for daily investments in health to ensure a fulfilling and independent life as individuals age. It underscores the importance of starting the journey toward better health at any age.
The episode concludes with a reminder of the power of having a strong "why" and a higher purpose to drive one's health journey forward. Both hosts agree that a meaningful "why" is essential for sustaining positive changes and achieving long-term health and happiness.
