Tim Bream & Dr. Mohammed Elamir: Aviv Clinics & a Holistic, Comprehensive Approach to Health & Human Performance

In this episode of the Brawn Body Health and Fitness Podcast - Dan is joined by Tim Bream and Dr. Mohammed Elamir to discuss Aviv Clinics in Florida and how they incorporate an interdisciplinary, holistic, comprehensive care model to tackle overall health and human performance.  Tim Bream is currently consulting with SAFR (Scientific Advance Sports Reduction) Sports Technologies. Tim was previously the Head Athletic Trainer for the XFL Washington DC franchise and spent 2 years year at University of Tennessee as Director of Sports Medicine after spending the previous 6 years at his alma mater Penn State as Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Medicine Support Services, and Head Football Athletic Trainer. Bream returned to his alma mater (Penn State) after 19 years with the National Football League’s Chicago Bears. He had served as the head athletic trainer with Chicago since 1997 after spending the four previous years with the Bears as an assistant athletic trainer. Prior to working in the NFL, Bream held athletic trainer positions at several schools, including Richmond, where he was the director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer (1998-92), Vanderbilt (1986-88), Syracuse (1984-86) and West Virginia (1983-84). In addition, Bream has worked with the United States Olympic Committee medical staffs, including the 1991 World University Games in England and the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France. Bream graduated from Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education, with an emphasis in athletic training.  Dr. Mohammed Elamir is an Aviv Clinics physician with over 10 years of experience in Internal Medicine. Prior to joining Aviv Clinics, he spent five years practicing Internal Medicine at the MM Jersey City Breathing Center while owning and running his own medical spa in Jersey City, New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers University prior to attending St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at RWJ-Barnabas: Jersey City Medical Center Program where he was Chief Resident and a member of the ethics committee. Ryan Maitland: Coaching, Developing, and Supporting the Complete Athlete

Will Cooledge: Recovery from an ACL Tear- Part 1, Early Post-Op

In this episode of the Brawn Body Health and Fitness Podcast, Dan is joined by William "Will" Cooledge to share part 1 (of many) of Will's ongoing ACL journey. The two share insights into Will's rehab process in addition to outlining challenges which may present themselves throughout an ACL recovery.  Will joined the Athlete Academy team after completing his Internship through Salisbury University, where obtained his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. Since his time at The Athlete Academy, he’s quickly moved up from a Sports Performance Coach and now heads the Sports Sciences Department. He’s Coached many Athletes from Youth, to High School and College DI-DIII levels. In addition to Training at The Athlete Academy, he is a Head Travel Soccer Coach for SUSC & the Assistant Girls Varsity Soccer Coach for Stephen Decatur High School. He is a Certified Speed & Agility Coach through the National Sports Performance Association and has a passion for Sports Sciences and Sports Performance Improvement. Will experienced an acute knee injury while playing pickup basketball on 10/14/2022 with his friends. He sought eval from Dan and later an MRI which confirmed a tear of his right ACL. Will was able to work with both Dan and Dr. James Dreese at Medstar to learn about his surgical options, including graft choices, overall rehab prognosis. After extensive pre-operative PT interventions, Will underwent a lateral meniscus repair, ACL reconstruction via patellar tendon graft, and ALL procedure by Dr. Dreese on 12/8/2022. He began his post-op rehab with Dan only 18 hours after his surgery concluded. Will has been working diligently to regain use of and restore proper function of his knee, and has decided to team up with Dan to share his journey through podcast episodes and social media posts in attempt to educate others on the post-operative recovery process and inspire those who are currently rehabbing an ACL injury.
