John Hazdovac: Fitness Approaches for Life, Cultivating Positive Gym Culture & More

In this episode of the Brawn Body Health and Fitness Podcast, Dan is joined by John Hazdovac, founder of Chuckwalla Fitness in Phoenix, AZ to discuss the experience at Chuckwalla Fitness, which includes a fitness-for-life approach to training, positive gym culture/environment, and so much more!  Everything began for John at the young age of 6 years old, when he joined his first gymnastics class. From there, John became hooked and continued competitively until he was 17. It was by that time in his senior year of high school that he decided to play football (interestingly enough, a lifelong dream). John barely made the team and got very little playing time. Yet, after graduation John decided that he had just enough toughness and grit, given his small size & inexperience to play in college. So, John trained like crazy...And after a ton of hard work, he ended up playing 4 years of college football...a dream he never thought possible! One year John was even voted, “Most Valuable Defensive Back.” John attribute all of it to his training in the gym from such a young age. It wasn’t just physical training but the mental training as well that helped me achieve such athletic success. Since then, John has DEDICATED his LIFE to FITNESS...in competition and in helping others in achieving ANY of their fitness goals, whatever they may be. Currently (as of Nov. 2021), John competes in CrossFit and Olympic  Weightlifting. In 2019 he made the podium at Weightlifting  Nationals in Salt Lake City, Utah taking home a silver medal. Since  then, John has continued to rank in the top 0.2% worldwide in the CrossFit Games qualifier events every year. More recently, John took 1st place at Arizona Masters State Championship (October 2021) and also placed 6th worldwide, in The Legends Masters CrossFit Qualifier securing his spot to compete at the main event in San Diego, CA, December 2021.  At the same time, John and his wife have owned and operated a successful gym (Chuckwalla Fitness) for the past 6 years where we continue to build up our community and get results for clients  For more on John and Chuckwalla be sure to check out chuckwallafitness.com ... @chuckwalla_fitness and john_hazdovac !
