An interesting conversation with Linda Pransky on the misunderstandings of psychology. We each share snippets from our own journey what looked true and what changed, how it looks different now, and simplicity of discovering our true nature, seeing whats beyond our thinking and what we need to experience transformation.
The answers are not in the past
Don’t give up searching
You’ll know when you find home
Life is taking us on a journey
Change is beyond the eyes
Moods are not an issue
Insight is the key to change
Looking beyond the intellect
It’s all in the feeling
higher state of mind = clearer thinking
Insight lead learning, beyond the contents
Trust the knowing of something more
There’s no complicated solutions
It’s in the simplicity
There’s nothing to do
The answers are within
Relax and live your life
The ‘problem’ resolves itself
The past is not important
Mental health is perfect when you leave it alone
Even that
Don’t underestimate the power of presence
Addiction is an attempt to quiet your mind
We use our own thinking against ourselves

Misunderstanding of Health | Rachel Singleton & Jason Shiers
An insightful conversation with Rachel Singleton about the natural system within the body, how our health is always pointing us home back to the natural equilibrium of the system. You don’t wan’t to miss this one, if you have ever suffered with ill physical health, there is so much wisdom here.
Letting something bigger guide us
Realising that we’re not listening
Our true health guides us from within
It is knowing what to do when
Your body tells you when it needs it
It’s about looking in a different direction
We all have inner guidance within
We make our pathology worse
We create suffering ourselves
What happens in the moments of respite?
Looking in the direction of health, not illness
What can we see that works for us
We don’t need to listen to what is wrong
It’s a self correcting system
All systems in the body work this way
Symptoms are love letters from the body
It’s about letting life come through us
It’s about hanging out in the unknown
Problems are a reflection of our level of consciousness
Health is available regardless of the diagnosis
Thinking always looks compelling
We are not unique in our pathology
It’s what is true for everyone
Every moment is fresh, unwritten
Everything can be seen through different lenses
The cage door is always open
Home is available at all times
Just be willing to look in a new direction
Look for a beautiful feeling, do more of that
You can find Rachel’s website here

Misunderstanding of Self Esteem | Dr Mark Howard & Jason Shiers
A conversation with Dr Mark Howard on the misunderstanding of self esteem, why we spend years if not a lifetime looking outside of ourselves to find the very thing that can only be found within… It is way too simple right? that cannot be true, there are whole industries created on improving self esteem, tricks, techniques and ways to improve it on a daily basis… but is there any self to develop? Listen in to hear more.
What really is self esteem?
Is it something we do?
Children are born with it
It’s who we are
We try to find it outside
It’s beyond habits of practice
It’s in the discovering of who you are
It’s something we know on a deep level
Its equal for everyone
It’s our own guiding system
All the answers are in simplicity
Seen through insight into our true nature
It is regardless of the past

A beautiful sharing of the simplicity of the human condition and our innate mental health by David Hill around the subject of post traumatic stress. It is such a well debated touchy subject, and easy to get lost in complicated solutions (which we talk about in the podcast). When you just see the relationship between thought and experience, things looks completely different. Enjoy
Is the story true?

Misunderstanding of Happiness | Dr Giles Croft & Jason Shiers
A wonderful conversation with Dr Giles p Croft on understanding the source of true happiness, it’s not what you think, or maybe it is. When we get beyond our own efforts to create happiness we see that it’s always there and there is nothing to do to get it.
It’s not found outside of you
It’s not about things
We innocently search for it
It’s always available right now
Things don’t need to be different
We do whatever makes sense
Happiness is your default
It’s in the present moment
We all get lost in thought
Our mind cannot see how simple it is
Can we slow down enough?
We create the past in the present
All there ever is is now
Happiness is available regardless
The stories we tell ourselves
It’s not about effort
There is a part of that recognises truth
Happiness is there all the time
We just cover it up with our own thinking
The solution to everything is now

Misunderstanding of Depression | Judith Sedgeman & Jason Shiers
A beautiful conversation with Judy about understanding our true nature, what is beyond the psychological symptoms and psychiatric diagnosis that so many people receive, and what happens when we touch that which is already there, life changes unrecognisably.
Depression is the weight of negative thinking taken seriously over time
There is nothing wrong with you
Digging into the past makes it worse
The pilot light is always burning ready
It’s not who you are
If you can create it, you can solve it
Diagnoses are not facts they are made up
Addiction is an escape from your own thinking
You can’t see it in others till you can see it in yourself
You don’t need to tell your story to get well
Only we, can help ourselves
You have to be able to forgive yourself
The answer is way too simple

Misunderstanding of Listening
A powerful and insightful conversation with Dr Linda Pettit who has been influential on my own journey in so many ways. This discussion with Linda highlights the common misunderstandings about listening, highlights what we are listening for, and what is always true.
It’s not active listening
or listening to reply
Or listening to analyse
Or listening to critique
Or listening to remember
Or listening for answer
Listening beyond the filter
It’s the key to life changing insight
Listening for feelings
Listening with the willingness to be influenced
It’s being open to something new
Listening to see something new
Listening to intuition
Not listening for anything
We are all connected
We are one
You can’t get it
You can’t work it out
Listening for love
It’s always showing itself
You can contact Linda at her website here

The answers are inside
Don’t be invested in the outcome

Holding it all with lightness
It’s like play a game
You have to get in the game
You can make the whole journey step by step
Creation without knowing
Everyone has down points
There is beyond your facebook world
How we rob ourselves of our experience
Trusting something deeper than thought
Being pulled towards something
You don’t need motivation

The gift of the pandemic
How long does it take to be successful

Misunderstanding of Trauma | Dr Thomas Kelley & Jason Shiers
A fun conversation with Dr Thomas Kelley on how a simple understanding of how the mind works, free’s people from their thinking about themselves. I often get taken by the simplicity of the conversations on the podcast and this one was no different. While expecting a big complex old explanation, I was taken back by how simply Tom shares.
Understanding where experience comes from is the birth of self responsibility and the absence of blame.
Trauma exists while we think it does
We make the connection in our own mind
When we stop connecting the dots
Understanding is not intellectual
Whatever people think looks like the truth
Everyone wants well-being
Everyone has perfect well-being
Children rest in well-being easier
When you forgive someone you let yourself off the hook
Trauma can become an important part of self image
People think they are their thoughts
Mental health bubbles up when your mind clears
Principles are fundamental truths
All answers are in simplicity
Getting people to listen from not knowing
Nothing happens until insight
Complexity collapses into simplicity
We always know when something is not right
We know when someone is truly present
