161. 5 Steps to Reset Any Area of Your Life

Imagine you spend 10+ years chasing the dream of becoming a leader in the LA nightclub life only to realize it wasn’t meant for you. That in time you would decide to leave behind the lifestyle you spent a decade working towards and pivot into something completely different such as Ultra-running. Now we’re comparing apples to oranges, completely different lifestyles. This is the story of Eli Wehbe. I just finished his book Mask and this is a major theme in the book. Today I want to use Eli as an example that at any point in our life, we have the power to hit the reset button & make a change. Although the best time to make a change may have been 1, 6 or 12 months ago…. the second best time is right now. 5 steps to reset any area of your life… Let’s fire it UP!   5 steps to reset any area of your life (1) We must acknowledge what needs to change. We don’t need to know what the next step is just yet but we have to be honest with ourselves that we need a reset. (2) We must come up with a plan for what we would like this change to look like. Without taking a moment to visualize it, we’ll be going in blind with what to do next.   (3) We must put in effort because it’s what creates progress. So long as we’re consistent over a period of time, we will begin to see progress. (4) We must be open to making pivots along the way because it’s bound to happen. There is no perfect blueprint we create ahead of time, we just adjust in real time. (5) Welcome the reset with open arms. You’ve put in the work, you’ve overcome the inner dialogue trying to convince you not to do it, you’ve consistently put in the work and now you’ve gotten what you asked for.      Challenge for the listeners  Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and seriously consider what areas of your life, if any, do you feel needs a reset. Be honest with yourself and don’t run away from the truth. As we talked about today, the first step is just acknowledging it. If we can do that, that’s a massive step that will help guide us to eventually making change. 159. 4 Principles for Letting Go of What We Can’t Control

Learning to let go of situations, narratives and unwanted thoughts is one of the most important lessons I’ve learned. In the past I would get stressed out on something that ultimately was completely out of my control & I would let it ruin my day. Whether it was the way someone felt about me, the critical voice in my head that puts me down or the way I was treated in a given situation, I would cave in these moments. It wasn’t fair that I was allowing these moments to get to me and so I became aware of it and have made a conscious effort to not let them get to me. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve still got a LOT to learn but I have made a bit of progress which has helped my overall well-being, energy and the way I present myself to the world. Today we’re going to dive into the 4 principles for letting go of what we can’t control… let’s fire it up!   Four principles of letting go (1) Accept the reality of the situation for what it is. Don’t waste any time or energy wishing things were different, face the truth head on.  (2) Respond to situations, don’t react. Weigh the options, sit on them for a bit and then pick what you feel is the best way to respond to a given situation. (3) Look for the gold in every situation. Even if things don’t shake out the way you’d hope, look for what you learned & how that may help you for the future.  (4) Trust the flow of the world. Timing is incredibly important and even if things didn’t play out the way you hoped they would, know that the universe is looking after you. Something great will come from this.   Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider are there any current narratives, situations, experiences etc that you have not let go of yet? That still bubble up on your mind today or maybe even right now? Take a moment to really pause and sit on it. There is no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed, we’re all human and all humans are emotional individuals regardless if you want to admit it or not. If there is something you have not yet let go of, maybe today is the day. 157. 5 Principles to Stay Dialed In

If there are three words I want you to remind yourself of throughout 2022 it’s this : Stay Dialed In. This isn’t for only one area of your life, this includes everything : Career, Relationships, Finance, Life Experiences, Personal Health & more. It’s very easy to get tunnel vision and only lock eyes on just career or just life experience but we’ll eventually burn out if we don’t spread our energy across evenly. Staying Dialed In is about keeping yourself balanced in all areas of your life while giving the task at hand your full attention. Today we’re going to dive into the five principles of how to Stay Dialed In. You ready? Let’s fire it up!   The five principles to Stay Dialed In (1) Get very clear on what you want in these different buckets of your life. Once you’re clear, you can start working towards making progress within them. (2) Schedule these different areas of your life on the calendar so you create “space” to work on them. Once it’s on the cal, build a boundary wall around it and don’t let anyone or anything interrupt it. (3) Dial in on whatever the focus is right now. The unanswered texts can wait, the never ending to-do list is pushed to the side because all of our focus should be on whatever the one singular task at hand is right now. (4) When it’s time to switch gears, leave behind bad baggage and dial in on the next task at hand. You can always pick up where you left off at a later time. (5) Take time to slow down in certain areas of your life if you feel like you need to put more effort into another area. Also give yourself a well deserved break whenever needed.   Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and be honest with yourself. Are there certain areas of your life you’re neglecting? What season of life are you going through right now? What changes do you want to make? 155. 5 Steps to Following the One Brick Rule

How do you build a wall made of bricks? It’s quite simple. You lay one brick at a time until it’s complete. Easy enough, right? Now you read that, most people are immediately overwhelmed thinking about how long it would actually take to build the damn wall. But what if we didn’t think about the big picture, what if we just focused on laying that one brick at a time, does that seem more manageable? Does that make doing it feel & seem all that much easier? What if instead of thinking about all the work that needs to get done within all these different areas of our life we instead just focus on that one brick, that one action we can take today. How many more days would we be willing to show up? How much more progress would we make in our week, month or year? My guess is a lot. Today we’re going to discuss The One Brick Rule - let’s fire it UP! Thanks to Will Smith for the inspiration of today's episode! Check out his new book WILL. 5 Steps to Following The One Brick Rule (1) Prepare Yourself For the Day : take the time to prepare yourself for the day ahead. Your habits & routines will look different than everyone else but find the ones that help you show up to the world as the best version of yourself and stick to them. (2) Adjust Due To Weather : Make necessary adjustments along the way but never toss in the towel because of the incoming weather. Rain or shine, we must show up to do the work. (3) Lay The Brick : Maybe it’s one area of your life or a few, do what you need to do today. Lay that brick or focus on whatever aspect of your life is necessary and do what you need to do. (4) Patch Up Any Cracks : Take time to patch up any cracks along the way because if not, our wall will crash before we finish. That 5 mins of reflection and analyzing our past can and will make all the difference in the long haul. (5) Finish The Job : Get the job done. Block out that pessimistic inner voice, cancel out any and all distractions and continue to show up until the job is done.   Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider what daily bricks you can lay in your life that will make a difference. 153. 4 Reminders for a Patient Mindset

There is something you want in your life & you’re anxiously waiting for the day to come when you reach the goal. That’s something that we all have in common. We always want something & most times we can’t get it immediately - we have to work for it. Just this week I released a podcast with the man who inspired me to start podcasting, Lewis Howes. This was a goal of mine that I waited five years for and I can honestly say it was well worth the wait. The question we need to ask ourselves : How long are we willing to wait for our own dreams to manifest into reality? Today we’re going to dive into four reminders that will help us have a patience mindset. Ready to dive in? Let’s fire it UP!   4 reminders for having a patient mindset : (1) Ask For What you Want : Always ask for what you want and if you don’t get it, no problem. Keep putting in the work, have some patience and when the time feels right to ask again then go for it. (2) The Longer It Takes, The More Prepared We’ll Be : Remind yourself daily that the longer it takes you to get what you want, the more time you will have to prepare for that moment. Luck is when opportunity meets preparation. (3) Timing Is Important : We never want to force things if it’s not meant to be. Trust the flow of the world and when it’s supposed to happen, it will. (4) Soak It In When It Finally Happens :  Regardless of how long it took to get what you want, take time to slow down and embrace the win. Smelling the roses will only help us get more inspired to get back to the work towards the next goal when necessary.   Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24 hours and consider how you can incorporate this patient mindset towards some of the goals you’re working towards today or even into the new year. At the end of the day, we need to believe in ourselves before the world does and so long as we do, we will cross off these goals in time.
