171. Live 24hrs at a Time : 3 Tips for Focusing on the Day Ahead

The best way to not get overwhelmed about the future is to stop thinking so far ahead. Instead lets focus on the 24hrs ahead of us and that’s it. If we were actually able to do that, how much more productive would we be? How less anxious would we feel about the future? How much more present would we feel just focusing on what’s in front of us right now? Todays the day we commit to living 24hrs at a time.     Three tips that I’ve learned to use when trying to focus on the day head include : (1) Daily to-do lists have been essential to making sure I’m staying productive but not overworking myself in a given 24hrs. It also helps me feel a sense of accomplishment when the day is done when looking at the list of items I’ve crossed off.  (2) Focus sprinting has allowed me to focus on the task at hand so that I can get it done efficiently and effectively. I never sacrifice quality but I do sacrifice all the side distractions so that I can get the job done. (3) “Cross that bridge when we get there” helps me focus on the day ahead by not allowing myself to get anxious or overwhelmed thinking about things that I’m weeks out from.     Challenge for listeners For the next 7 days I want you to remind yourself every morning before you even roll out of bed to focus on the day ahead of you. I don’t mean just remind yourself, say it out loud and really hear it. See if it changes your mood or the way you approach the day ahead. I have a feeling it may just work to your benefit.   Questions from SDI Community Alan : “Steps you personally take to deal with FOMO”     Get sustained energy with Tenzo Tea! 169. The Positive Mindset : 4 Reminders to Change Your Perspective

This is going to be one of if not the best pieces of advice you will hear today maybe even this week. Starting today, you’re only going to allow yourself to see the world from a positive perspective. No more complaining, no more wishing things were differently or holding onto emotions from situations that happened months ago. This will take a bit of practice to see the results but I can promise it will have a ripple effect into every aspect of your life. Today we’re going to dive into the four reminders to help change our perspective so we can move through this world with a positive lens. Are you ready to change your mind? Let’s fire it up!   4 reminders to change your perspective to see the positives in every situation (1) Alway search for the positive in every situation. Although it may be difficult in the moment, there is something that can be learned from the situation that will help us for the future.  (2) Drop the unwanted emotions because they’re going to fog up our lens from seeing any positives that come from a situation.  (3) Give advice to yourself from a friends perspective. Strip away the narratives we all create in our head and see the situation as black and white with nothing in between.  (4) Practice, practice, practice. The only way we can start to incorporate a more positive mindset into our lives is by consistently putting in the effort to do so daily.   Challenge for the listeners Take 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider a situation that you’re still salty about. It could have happened last week, last month or honestly even a few years ago. Are you holding onto the situation with only a negative perspective? Well I want to encourage you to please consider something positive you learned from the situation. Not only take the time to change your perspective on past situations but also get ready to start deploying this positive mindset in real time starting today and into the future.     Check out the Stay Dialed In App! 167. Overcoming Trauma : 5 Steps to Keep Moving Forward

Is there a past situation or moment that still causes you emotional discomfort today? I can promise that you’re not alone. Everyone deals with some type of trauma and each and every scenario is unique and one of a kind. I’ve recently been experiencing after affects from something that happened six years ago which inspired me to want to talk about it on todays episode. The past is the past, what’s done is done but we can change how we view the situation so that we can continue to live our lives. Today’s were going to discuss the five steps to keep moving forward so that we can overcome any trauma. Are you ready to get vulnerable with me today? Let’s fire it up!     Five steps to keep moving forward :  (1) Look at the past in a positive lens. Regardless of how tough it may have been in the moment, try to find a lesson or takeaway that you can equip yourself with for the future (2) Prioritize your self-care because it will help make you feel better on the inside. The healing starts within which then ripples on the outside. (3) Find mediums to clear your mind and use them as often as you need to. There is no right or wrong medium, we just need to find what works for us.  (4) Have patience in the healing. It won’t happen overnight but it sure will get better day by day.  (5) Embrace self-compassion. We’re all humans and we all have different emotional responses to situations. On top of that, things will not always go the way we wished they would go.     Challenge for the listeners  Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider any traumas you’ve had to overcome in your life and what lessons / takeaways you’ve carried with you from them. Maybe there is something that’s bothering you right now that stems back to past trauma. Acknowledge it, dig into it and learn from it. The entire reason this episode came to life was because I could feel these past traumas from 6 years ago bubbling up as of recent in my dating life. Instead of avoiding it, I wanted to use this medium to express it and hopefully help any of you who may be going through something similar.   Questions from the Stay Dialed In Community  Ashe Taylor : Overcoming a relationship when they were all you knew? What’s something you’ve always wanted to do but have procrastinated taking the first step? We come up with every excuse in the book to not do and eventually time passes and we’re disappointed we still haven’t attempted it. What I’ve learned is to commit before you’re ready and then take the time to prepare yourself. I locked in my 2nd marathon before I had even crossed the starting line of the first one. Was I nervous? Did it scare me a bit? Of course, but I knew once it was on my calendar, I had no other option but to prepare for it. Today we’re going to dive into what go one more marathon experience was like and by the end I want you all to commit to something you’ve pushed off for far too long. Are you ready to face that fear? Let’s fire it up!     7 lesson from the marathon Lesson 1 : Commit first, then reverse engineer a plan for how you’re going to execute it. Lesson 2 : It may seem like we’re hurting our progress by slowing down but in reality it will help us speed up in time. Lesson 3 : Regardless of the circumstances, we must become our biggest supporter Lesson 4: Break everything down into micro steps and tell yourself to go just on more. In time, that progress will add up.  Lesson 5 : Getting from point A to point B is no small feat regardless of what area of your life it might be. Embrace the wins and learn from the experience in how you can improve for the future Lesson 6 : Short term pain is temporary but pride is permanent and can be carried with you for a lifetime.  Lesson 7 : In order to do something great, you will need a team of people around you. If you want to go far, go together.      Challenge for the listeners I really want ya’ll to spend 10 minutes in the next 24hrs and consider something you’ve always wanted to do but yet you’ve found every excuse in the book to push it off till later. I’m not judging you because I have been there before, trust me. Today begins the journey of you accomplishing whatever it is you want to do. Think about it, commit to it by putting it on your calendar and whatever you do… make sure you show up and get it done by the deadline.    Pod review of the week McKayla1944     Donate towards Boston Marathon HERE.   Get sustained energy with Tenzo Tea! You need to slow down in order to speed up & what I mean by that is that it’s perfectly healthy to take a break. Not only that but it’s in our best interest to find ways to recharge our body + mind throughout the week. Think of us like rechargeable batteries, at some point we’re going to run out of energy and we need to stop to recharge back up to 100%. Whether that’s getting a few extra hours of sleep than we normally do, taking an ice bath, watching a movie at the end of a long week, we need to prioritize our recovery. Today we’re going to dive into 9 ways that I recover which help me feel better than ever, let’s fire it UP!     9 Ways to Recover Your Body + Mind (1) Prioritize your sleep and make sure you’re getting enough so that you can feel your best self on a daily basis.  (2) Commit to a 100% clean diet for the short term, it will make all the difference in how you and your body feels. (3) Take breaks from both alcohol and drugs when needed. You’re in control for how long that break is but see what one, two or even three weeks feels like. (4) Use cold or hot therapy to reset, it will help tremendously.  (5) Binge entertainment you enjoy because it’s completely healthy to take a break and relax.  (6) Sit in stillness and use the time to to learn, grow & motivate you for the future.  (7) Get the body moving and the juices flowing. Giving it 25% of what your normal 100% feels like could be a good recovery session.  (8) Put down the phone and take a break from emails, texts & social when you feel the need to do so. (9) Fuel your body with the proper hydration by making sure you’re drinking enough water in a given day. It will have a huge impact on your recovery and wellbeing.      Challenge for the listeners  Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider what you do to recover your body and mind. Consider the 9 ways we discussed today and think about the ones that come to mind that maybe I didn’t discuss. Prioritize them and add them into your life as needed, I guarantee it will make a difference.   Questions from the Stay Dialed In community Alicia : How does your night routine look like?
