181. The Dating Playbook : 7 Lessons I Learned the Hard Way
My dating life in 2021 was nonexistent. I had just checked myself back in the game after being off the grid for a few years and I was starting at 0. I swung & missed often but through it I learned some incredibly important lessons that have completely changed my mindset & approach to dating. The journey of dating can be a bumpy one but once you find your groove and have the right perspective, it can be an exciting adventure. Today we’re diving into the 7 dating lessons that I learned the hard way. 7 lessons I’ve learned from dating that I wish I knew earlier : 1 : Having an abundance mindset when it comes to dating has changed my perspective. I know there are plenty of fish in the sea so if it doesn’t work out with someone, I’m okay with that. 2 : Confidence is a must. Once I was able to fully step into who I am, the most authentic version of me, I was then able to truly show up confidently. Liquor confidence doesn’t count. 3 : Express subtle interest to the person you’re attracted to. Make playful jokes, lightly compliment them and ask them deep questions when possible. Take the initiative to give hints that you are interested in them. 4 : Dating is a dance. It takes equal effort from both people and if one decides to step off the dance floor, that’s okay. We remind ourselves of the abundance mindset and that there is someone else on the dance floor waiting for us. 5 : Let rejection add fuel to the fire inside you. If someone is not interested in you, no big deal. At least you went for it and now it’s time to get back out there again. 6 : Close doors to open new ones. It’s better to move on from the person you’re dating if you know this is a short term thing and see some red flags. By doing that, we welcome something new to possibly enter into our life. 7 : Embrace the journey of dating. In the beginning some hard lessons will be learned but through those moments, it helps change the way you approach it moving forward. Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and reflect on your dating life today. Did anything I talked about today hit home? Are you happy with the progress you’ve made in the last couple months? Is there one of the lessons I chatted about today that stood out the most? Take some time to consider what, if any changes you need to make moving forward. Questions from the SDI Community Emma : Best spot in Venice to find single men? 179. Avoid Blacking Out On Alcohol : 6 Lessons From Drinking Too Much
Have you blacked out on alcohol? Cause I for suuure have. Over the past 10 years I’ve gone on a rollercoaster of a ride journey with alcohol.I’ve had some of the best of times with it & also some of the darkest times. Through this journey I’ve learned to become more intentional with when I send it and for what reason.I’ve also learned the steps to take so that I can remember the night and feel decent by the morning. Today we’re diving into the 6 lessons I’ve learned from drinking too much. 6 lessons I’ve learned to avoid blacking out 1 : Prepare yourself ahead of time by making sure you’re eating enough calories and drinking enough water before you go out. 2 : Be very intentional about when you send it and for what occasion. I no longer just drink to drink, I try to find a valid reason otherwise I’ll pass on it for the night which makes it much more enjoyable when I do give myself the green light. 3 : It’s a marathon not a sprint. Be very mindful of what you’re drinking and how often because these drinks can add up quickly which can result in you getting too drunk too quick. 4 : Mixing in waters often helps you not get drunk too quickly and helps from having a hangover the next day. 5 : Don’t cave to peer pressure. If someone offers me a shot and I don’t want it, I say no. I don’t care what their reaction might be or what they may say, I do what’s best for me. 6 : Be very mindful of your decisions while drinking. Easier said than done, yes, but absolutely crucial and necessary. Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and reflect on your journey with alcohol. Has it been smooth sailing, a bumpy ride similar to mine or maybe nothing all that great? I’m not here to suggest you quit drinking or fill up another cup but I challenge you to block out what society may be leading you to believe or what your peers may say and instead ask yourself : Do I like the direction I’m headed and if not, what changes would I like to make? Questions from SDI Community Ashe : Tips for limiting alcohol intake when out? Having trouble with blacking out Ashe : Have you struggled with alcohol anxiety? Tom : How do you say “no” when friends are asking you to drink or go out? Fidel : How did you deal with social anxiety when you first slow down your drinking? 177. Evening Routines : 5 Steps to Prepare Myself for the Next Day
Evening routines are just as important as morning routines. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to wake up feeling motivated, refreshed and recharged. My evening routine is built to hold me accountable to getting enough sleep & helps me sloooow down from a busy day. I do make exceptions here and there but for the most part I follow this routine every week day. Today we’re diving into the 5 specific steps that help me prepare myself for the next day and allow me to fall asleep with ease. 5 steps of my evening routine 1 : Determining a weekday bedtime has helped to make sure I get enough sleep for the next day so that I can be fully recharged and ready to go 2 : Eliminating sounds and light has helped me sleep through the night with ease. Having ear plugs and a night mask for when needed has been crucial. 3 : Limiting food + liquid consumption before bed helps me sleep through the night without waking up. Decreasing alcohol consumption to none when possible only helps increase the sleep quality. 4 : Turning on Do Not Disturb mode 30 minutes before bed helps me detach myself from my phone and builds a boundary around me so that people can’t reach me as I am getting ready to settle in for the night 5 : Watching entertainment on YouTube or Netflix helps me slow my mind down and helps switch gears from a busy day to getting ready to pass out. Challenge for the listeners Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs to consider what your evening routine looks like. Do you just go to bed when you feel like it? Do you watch another episode of Netflix when you know you should go to sleep? Do you answer texts up until you pass out? I’m not saying I have all the answers but I challenge you to take a moment to consider what your evening routine should look like for you. Even just picking a bedtime can help make sure you’re getting plenty of sleep. Consider it, test some routines out and see how differently you feel come the morning. Questions from Stay Dialed In Community Alica : How would your night routine look if you only have 5min? So hard for me to stick to one. Dev : How often do you make exceptions to the evening routine? 175. 19,002 Total Uber Rides : 7 Lessons I Learned From Being a Top 2% Driver in the World
I completed 19,002 total rides for Uber across 3.5 years. Did I ever anticipate to do that many rides? No but the lessons I learned along the way helped shape me into who I am today. Uber provided me a platform to pay my bills while trying to build my creative career. I had freedom and the ability to prioritize myself daily which was crucial during this phase of my life. I learned time management as every minute I wasn’t driving, it was costing me money. Today I’m going to discuss the 7 lessons I learned from being a top 2% Uber Driver in the world. Seven lesson I learned from driving 19,002 total rides for Uber 1 : Focus on one ride at a time. Don’t get caught up thinking about how many rides you’ve done up to this point or how many more you may have left to go. Focus on the day ahead. 2 : Make every second of your day count. It may not feel like much in the moment but these small decisions will compound if we correctly make use of the time. 3 : Create space to think because it will provide a lot of answers. When I wasn’t chatting with riders or waiting on the side of the road for the next passenger, I was going internal and learning more about myself. 4 : Every person has a story to tell. Don’t judge them from the outside looking in, take a moment to get to know them before you make assumptions. 5 : Wealthy people make every dollar count. If they’re willing to save $50 on an Uber rather than an Uber Black, they’ll do it. They see a dollar as a dollar, regardless of how much they have in the bank. 6 : Finish the job. I learned to let go of the emotions that may impact my decision making and instead focus on what I had set out to accomplish on a given day. 7 : Own your story. Even though I wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be, I wasn’t afraid to let people know that I was driving Uber full-time while I was building a dream. If anything, I think it made people relate and respect me even more. Challenge for the listeners Although you may not be an Uber Driver or you may not be making a living doing what you exactly love or vision yourself doing for the rest of your life, I challenge you to look at whatever you’re doing to make money or as your career at the moment and try to finally the value, benefits and lessons you may be learning along the way. This is only going to change your perspective of it and it may honestly make it all that much more enjoyable. Questions from the SDI Community Rugtomize : Most memorable ride / customer? Bri : Did anyone get sick in your car? Jordan Tarver : Best piece of advice you got from a passenger? Luke : Most effective way you spent time learning while on the road? Chole : Did you ever make out with a passenger. Say yes. Check out the Stay Dialed In Merch! Website : StayDialedIn.com Check out the Stay Dialed In App! Got a topic / question you want me to cover? 173. Meeting New People : 5 Steps to Building Community
Meeting new people isn’t easy, but can it be done? Yes. Like anything in life, there is no progress without effort so we must be willing to put in the work. Throw yourself out there, say yes when getting invited to events or experiences, introduce yourself to people and have some patience. So long as we are consistent, we can and will find our people. Today we’re going to dive into the 5 steps that I’ve used in meeting new people and building community. 5 Steps To Building Community 1 : Look for events or experiences online or through friends recommendations that are being hosted near you and attend one or as many that interest you. 2 : Say yes to everything you get invited to. Don’t worry about who is going. If it’s something you’re available and able to attend, just do it. 3 : Introduce yourself to the people in the room as soon as possible. Break the ice by simply introducing your name and asking them a question. 4 : Invite people to come with you to dinners, events or other experiences you plan on attend. It will deepen your relationship with them and be less intimidating when meeting other people. 5 : Create an experience that brings people together and have people bring a plus one which will potentially help introduce you to someone new Challenge for the listeners Consider the steps we discussed today and ask yourself which step you should give a try if you’re in the process of meeting new people or building community. If you have tried all of them and don’t feel like you’re seeing success, which one do you enjoy the most? Whatever one it is, continue to do it. The progress will come in time. If it happened for me, it will happen for you. Questions from Stay Dialed In Community Austin : How / where to approach people without seeming like a rando / awkward? Rugtomize : How can these connections be more organically? Brandon : Consistency is #1. Focus on the human experience. Word of mouth is always king Richard : What would you suggest someone does if they recently moved to a new city? Check out the Stay Dialed In Merch!
