Is there a past situation or moment that still causes you emotional discomfort today? I can promise that you’re not alone. Everyone deals with some type of trauma and each and every scenario is unique and one of a kind. I’ve recently been experiencing after affects from something that happened six years ago which inspired me to want to talk about it on todays episode. The past is the past, what’s done is done but we can change how we view the situation so that we can continue to live our lives. Today’s were going to discuss the five steps to keep moving forward so that we can overcome any trauma. Are you ready to get vulnerable with me today? Let’s fire it up!

Five steps to keep moving forward :

  • (1) Look at the past in a positive lens. Regardless of how tough it may have been in the moment, try to find a lesson or takeaway that you can equip yourself with for the future
  • (2) Prioritize your self-care because it will help make you feel better on the inside. The healing starts within which then ripples on the outside.
  • (3) Find mediums to clear your mind and use them as often as you need to. There is no right or wrong medium, we just need to find what works for us.
  • (4) Have patience in the healing. It won’t happen overnight but it sure will get better day by day.
  • (5) Embrace self-compassion. We’re all humans and we all have different emotional responses to situations. On top of that, things will not always go the way we wished they would go.

Challenge for the listeners

  • Spend 10 minutes within the next 24hrs and consider any traumas you’ve had to overcome in your life and what lessons / takeaways you’ve carried with you from them. Maybe there is something that’s bothering you right now that stems back to past trauma. Acknowledge it, dig into it and learn from it. The entire reason this episode came to life was because I could feel these past traumas from 6 years ago bubbling up as of recent in my dating life. Instead of avoiding it, I wanted to use this medium to express it and hopefully help any of you who may be going through something similar.
