Embodiment has many different meanings, but to be embodied from a neurosomatic intelligence perspective relates to the integration of the body, mind and spirit. It means you are aware of the connection between your body and its internal sensations, your emotions, and your behaviors. Sharing her journey to embodiment and how she uses it in her work as a mindset coach is Tracy Litt, speaker and founder of The Litt Factor. Tracy is also a bestselling author and her new book, “Expander: For Trailblazing Women Building a New World,” outlines the damaging paradigms that hold us back and what we can do to replace them. In this episode, Tracy helps us look at embodiment through the lens of neurosomatic intelligence, including how it impacts our relationships, career, and health. You’ll learn more about dissociation, what keeps us from feeling and being in our bodies, and how emotional expression will transform your life. There is a natural fear to change and embodiment, but you have to remember that YOU are the creator of your own life. Tune in to find out how to start healing through nervous system work! Relationships to Cultural Beliefs
Believe it or not, the brain and nervous system process social threat and physical threat the same way, making them equally as harmful to our health. That means that the cultural beliefs that shape our society are causing real trauma and dysregulating our nervous systems. Today, Jennifer and Elisabeth are talking to Christy Chung, a certified NSI practitioner, advocate and healer, on this episode centered around culture, community, and the nervous system. They discuss how social stressors (such as gender, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, etc.) can cause unsafe relationships with people and society, and the NSI tools that have helped Christy in her racial equity work, as well as on a personal level as a queer, Asian woman. Christy also sheds light on the impact that long-term social threat, especially racism, has on the health of those affected. Plus, you’ll learn a few interesting facts you might not know — like how culture has shaped our anatomy and biased our brains! This episode is a must-listen for anyone who wants to find out how they can not only support their own nervous system and stay healthy, but change the harmful system of our society. Tune in now! Topics discussed in this episode: Christy’s businesses and activist work Unsafe relationships with people, society, and culture Dealing with conflict and repair work with NSI The relationship between social stress and attachment Minority stress theory and social safety theory The impact of chronic stress on the body from an NSI perspective Examples of how culture shapes brain function How Christy uses NSI tools in her work and personal life Making an impact and sacred responsibility Resources mentioned in this episode: Sonya Renee Taylor Gabor Maté “The neurobiology of social stress resulting from Racism: Implications for pain disparities among racialized minorities” by Joanna M.
