Quote of the episode from Dara: "just because you have been using UA360 doesn't mean you're going to need, I'm just going to call it GA4-360, you don't necessarily need it" --- This week Dan and Dara discuss the recent announcement that the sunsetting of GA360 has been pushed back 9 months to the 1st July 2024. The news comes bundled with other new feature announcements such as custom channel groupings, automatic GA4 property creation and native bidding in DV360. #59 Digital accessibility in social media and analytics (with Ellen Cole @ Little Seed Group)

Pictures of hedgehogs and the full transcript can be found at https://bit.ly/3fztLsm. **Suggest a topic or guest by filling out the form https://bit.ly/3MNtPzl, or emailing podcast@measurelab.co.uk to drop Dan and Dara a message directly.** --- Intro [00:15] Topic [03:29] Wind down [42:00] Outro [45:09] --- Quote of the episode from Ellen: "I think people don't realise that disabilities is such a vast group, you can't just bring one person in to resolve all the disability issues. You need to bring people in from, you know, a wide range of different backgrounds in order to understand the complexities of disabilities, because it's not just a kind of a one size fits all approach." Another quote of the episode from Ellen: "Google Analytics 4 seems to be that tiny little bit more accessible in terms of the functionality and where to press and it's a lot more clearer of where to press. However, you still can't use a screen reader, which I found quite astonishing." Yet another quote of the episode from Ellen: "It's quite surprising for a company like Google, especially when you know they're very driven in terms of trying to attract people with invisible differences such as dyslexia and autism and ADHD. They seem to understand the untapped talent that these types of people have, yet then they're being excluded from being able to access Google Analytics, which I find a bit strange. It's like, how are you connecting those dots? It just doesn't make sense to me." --- This week Dan and Dara are joined by Ellen Cole - an award-winning Marketing, PR and Social Media marketer with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility in digital. Ellen discusses their experience working with invisible differences, and how businesses large and small can make positive steps towards making their social media and marketing more inclusive for all. **Suggest a topic or guest by filling out the form https://bit.ly/3MNtPzl, or emailing podcast@measurelab.co.uk to drop Dan and Dara a message directly.** --- Intro 00:00 Topic 00:48 Wind Down 27:41 Outro 29:54 --- Quote of the episode from Dan: "Google can try to guess what it is you mean, but it's a stupid machine and often gets that wrong." Quote of the episode from Dara: "I get what you're saying about how maybe there's an argument for this one, but I'm greedy and now I want to look at device type by query string parameters and I can't, so I'm upset." --- This week Dan and Dara react and discuss the recent announcement of the schema changes in the Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Data API. Are Google going backwards by (re)introducting scope compatibility, or is this what was always missing and will now help the transition from Universal Analytics? **Suggest a topic or guest by filling out the form https://bit.ly/3MNtPzl, or emailing podcast@measurelab.co.uk to drop Dan and Dara a message directly.** --- Quote of the episode from Dan: "Time and time again, we get people with Universal Analytics and they're using their data and just assume it's complete, without realising their cookie banner is not tracking a bunch of stuff when people don't accept the cookie to be set." Quote of the episode from Dara: "People who are desperately trying to get upskilled on GA4 then have to explain GA4 to the wider business, who maybe still don't really fully understand Universal Analytics." --- This week Dan and Dara reflect on the current state of play with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), with migrations being a hot topic at the moment for Measurelab. But they try to also look beyond purely the migrations, and discuss what they think might be coming around the corner for GA4 - especially when Universal Analytics (UA) is turned off in July 2023.
