Episode 11: A First Meet Recap ft. the Ladies of Precision Powerlifting Systems
Kevin puts on his coach hat and chats with three of the newer Team Precision members coming off their first USAPL meet on December 2 in East Longmeadow, Mass. The ladies discuss seeking out coaching as a beginner powerlifter, what it was like to lift competitively for the first time, and female body image in powerlifting.
Grace Chang competed in the -52kg open class and placed 1st with a 220kg total, Danielle Nguyen competed in the -63kg open class and placed 2nd with a 297.5kg total, and Kina Usmanova competed in the -72kg open class and placed 6th with a 307.5kg total.

Episode 10: From 26.2 to 9 Attempts ft. Meghan Scanlon
This week we chat with Meghan Scanlon, a -63kg athlete in the USAPL who recently took 5th place in the highly competitive 63kg Open division at 2017 Raw Nationals. A former marathoner and future weightlifter, Meg totaled 455 kg/1003.1 lbs this past October and took home the 63kg American Record in the squat. Meg chats with us about her career in powerlifting, her current programming, and goals for 2018.

Episode 09: Lessons Learned from Boris Sheiko
Kevin is solo on the mic this week talking his personal experiences as a student of Boris Sheiko. Kevin has been training under Boris for two years and has developed both physical and mental strength under his tutelage.
Boris Sheiko is the only person in Russia who is a Professor of Powerlifting. He has published 150 articles and 15 books on powerlifting. He was the head coach of the Russian powerlifting team from 1999 to 2005, which was undefeated in international competition, winning 7 European and world championships with every athlete achieving not less than a bronze. He has developed 9 IPF world champions, who received 40 gold medals. He has developed methodology with a deep understanding of the training process and perfecting technique.

Dr. Amato is a physical therapist at Joint Ventures Physical Therapy and Fitness in Boston, Mass. He works with a wide range of patients that come from various backgrounds in fitness and athletics while maintaining busy, professional lives. These are people who are looking to remain athletic and healthy, whether their main activity is a team sport, weight training, or tackling the everyday challenges of life. Kerry is a -52kg USAPL powerlifter and recently placed 14th in the 52kg Open class at 2017 USAPL Raw Nationals. She has been training at TPS since 2016.

Episode 05: Scientific Principles of Strength Training

Kevin is the director of strength and conditioning at Total Performance Sports in Malden, Mass. He holds a master’s Degree in kinesiology and a bachelor’s degree in health and wellness. Kevin has been a student of former team Russia powerlifting coach and coaching legend, Boris Sheiko, since 2015. Kevin currently leads the raw powerlifting group at TPS, Precision Powerlifting Systems, using the principles taught to him by the legendary coach.

Episode 04: The Pee Problem in Powerlifting: How to Help Stop Female Incontinence ft. Sophie Veiras, PT, DPT
TPS intern coach Soph gets on the mic with Kevin Cann to talk about pee on the platform at USAPL Raw Nationals, and what women can do to try and fix the problem before it happens. Soph also talks about her time as a powerlifter and how she’s eased this problem in her own lifting.
Sophie Veiras is an intern coach at TPS and works full-time as a physical therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy in Roxbury, Mass. Sophie holds her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University, and was formerly the president of the Northeastern University powerlifting team where she learned to train both raw and single-ply. She is an IPF World Champion after winning the 63kg Raw Collegiate class at the IPF World University Cup in 2016, and placed second at USAPL Open Nationals in 2017 hitting a single-ply 477.5kg/1050lb total.
