Dr. Wada - Skin Products and Allergies
Did you know that many skincare products actually contain ingredients that could be allergens to you?
Sounds counterintuitive, right?
That's why we are so excited to be joined today by @CrunchyAllergist Kara Wada, M.D. Dr. Wada is an allergist and immunologist. We're going to discuss why some ingredients cause allergic reactions in people and what to do about it.
Many people who use Million Marker's Detect & Detox Test Kit and test high for BPA, phthalates, and other hormone-disrupting chemicals, are usually exposed through personal care products. We're talking lotions, soaps, perfumes, etc.
The chemicals we test for disrupt your hormones. However, many of these products also contain known allergens (like phenoxyethanol). Studies show that other ingredients (like parabens, which we test for) can increase the allergens' effects (like in the case of phenoxyethanol).
When it comes to personal products, your body must contend with packaging and ingredients. So, navigating a healthier lifestyle might be challenging. Be sure to ask some questions in the comments.

Sara Jensen - Reducing Toxic Chemical Exposure Through Self-Care
Hugh & Grace is a #MillionMarkerApproved Product. They have a line of hormone-safe face and body oil, serums, and soaps crafted by award-winning formulators. You can receive 10% off by clicking our Link In Bio and using the code MILLION.
Through her own personal adversities, Sara Jensen was driven to develop Hugh & Grace, a better-than-clean skincare brand. Her 14-year struggle to have a family caused Sara and her husband set out to rethink the self-care industry.
The husband-and-wife duo identified a gap in the market for self-care products that address hormone safety, as most personal care products — including clean, non-toxic products — contain harmful chemicals that can impact our hormones and our health.
Sara and her husband were amazed when two of their family members volunteered to be their surrogates, and the couple founded Hugh & Grace to create high-performing, hormone-safe products for the whole family!
Prior to founding Hugh & Grace, Sara earned her MBA from USC Marshall and spent the previous six years working at USC Marshall in development on the major gifts team.
She is also responsible for spearheading the maternity leave policy change at USC, the largest private employer in LA, to include adoptions and surrogacy. She is the proud mother to Hugh, 4, and Grace, 2.

Chelsea Potter - Transitioning off of Hormonal Birth Control
Many women who use Million Marker's services have been prescribed birth control at various points in their lives. Some received birth control as a child for acne issues. Others have been prescribed birth control for dealing with conditions like PCOS. While this is a useful solution for some, birth control is not a one-size-fits-all approach. For any women, it can add to their anxiety, mess up regular hormone production, and more. Birth control is synthetic hormones that act as endocrine disruptors. That means they can mess up our natural hormonal signaling.
Today's guest has helped many of her clients transition off of birth control. We will be joined by Chelsea Potter, RDN (@good.mood.nutrition). Chelsea is a Hormone Dietitian who uses food and supplements to help women balance hormones.
