The mitochondria are not just the powerhouse of the cell; they are the engines that run our entire body. If we can remove the obstructions to energy production (calcification, lipofuscin and fibrosis) everything works better, we experience mental clarity and emotional resilience.

Lipofuscin: Cellular Kryptonite That Nobody Talks About
There is a lot of talk about autophagy, or cellular recycling, and apoptosis, programmed cell death, in relationship to circadian rhythm entrainment, ketogenic diets, and intermittent fasting. What I never hear is people talking about lipofuscin, the intracellular kryptonite and shuts down both of those processes by gumming up the lysosomes of our cells. When the garbage recycling center of our cells gets up to 75% full of this nearly non-degradable material, our mitochondria, cell, and tissue function fails. In this episode I focus on the exact biochemical mechanisms of how lipofuscin causes harm, not just being an inert substance but one that generates inflammation itself, keeping our requirements for antioxidants chronically elevated. I break down its relationship to redox active metals and the fascinating light connection with photo-induced free radical generation. I talk about why I believe vitamin E to be the best solution. I explain how oxidized vitamin A plays a role in lipofuscin formation, but why we shouldn't join the "vitamin A is a toxin" camp and instead prioritize keeping our vitamin E status up which protects A from oxidation. While there aren't human studies on red light therapy or photobiomodulation for lipofuscin, I share why I bathe myself in front of a red light panel everyday and how I think it works for mitigating lipofuscin. I did not have time for listener questions for this episode but i'll break down the nuances of each part of my CLF protocol (calcification, lipofuscin, and fibrosis) in future episodes. Using the Sugar Diet for Weight Loss with Gwenyth Burmingham
There is always a new diet circulating and they always get a lot of engagement. What makes the sugar diet unique is that it challenges the mainstream idea that sugar consumption causes weight gain. What the mainstream doesn't tell you is that fatty acids and glucose compete for absorption, so consuming lower fats while consuming a lot of carbohydrates with adequate protein will actually increase the metabolic rate and turn you into a "fat burner" like the keto people talk about. Gwenyth Burmingham joins us to talk about how she is using this as a short-term tool to support her weight loss goals. She talks about the importance of collagen and gelatin, why she thinks high protein consumption is overhyped, what she consumes everyday on the sugar diet, why she believes everyone has some estrogen dominance, why she likes topical progesterone, and more. Fix Long Covid with These Supplements
In the past few weeks there has been another round of a "bug" going around here in Idaho. I started to feel symptoms but hit it hard and knocked out whatever I caught within one day. In this short episode I give a crash course on what I believe to be the most important supplements to take when you feel like you are dealing with a viral infection. I prioritize vitamin, mineral, and enzyme supplements before going to herbs, methylene blue, or antiparasitics. Vitamins and minerals are foundational and deficiencies are common. During an acute or long-term infection your burn rate of nutrients will be a lot higher so you must supplement accordingly. I talk about the importance of taking copper if you're taking zinc, the exact biochemical mechanisms how ascorbic acid works to balance the system, the lipid peroxidation and viral connection, why vitamin E is an underrated supplement, why superoxide dismutase (SOD) is so important to support during long covid, how lithium has been a known anti viral since 1980, and why melatonin should be a crucial part of your antiviral medicine cabinet. The Link Between Alpha Gal Syndrome and Glyphosate
You have heard of Lyme disease but have you heard of Alpha Gal Syndrome? It is another condition caused by a tick bite but the symptoms are arguably much worse - becoming allergic to red meat! Affecting over 450,000 Americans, not being able to eat red meat can cause a cascade of downstream effects due to nutrient deficiency. In this episode ANP Dette Avalon, author of The Ultimate Guide to Alpha Gal Syndrome, explains what it is and the devastation it causes. While there is no one magic bullet for it that we know of yet, Dr Stephanie Seneff PhD joins us to make the link between Alpha Gal and glyphosate toxicity. We talk about mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and its connection to alpha gal and glyphosate, the importance of a healthy microbiome, the impact of "cross reactive proteins", the benefits of sauerkraut, the mitochondria and deuterium link, the importance of vitamin D and cholesterol, and other solutions that they've found. Methods of Reducing Chronic Stress with Dr Scott Sherr
With how unnaturally fast paced life is, social media notifications, neverending emails, letters in the mail to respond to, staying aware of all of the various toxins we're exposed to, dodging grifters online that just want to take your money and sell you their program, it is very easy to be chronically stressed. Practices such as turning off your notifications, putting your phone in airplane mode when you are walking in the forest, keeping do not disturb on all the time, carving time out of your day to not stare at screens, are some common strategies to reduce stress. In this episode Dr Scott Sherr returns to the show to talk about: why its not just about healing your trauma, the mitochondrial harm that occurs with chronic stress, the role of GABA, how methylene blue supplementation can help, his thoughts on alcohol and cannabis, carbon dioxide therapy, and more. Your Sunburn Could be a Copper Deficiency
For several years I was focusing heavily on the relationship between copper and iron while neglecting and even demonizing zinc. Given that our body stores a much higher concentration of zinc than copper, that was not a wise approach. Over the years I have learned that even in the case of a copper deficiency, one should still supplement zinc in addition to copper, and the clinical research clearly proves this. It is very easy to get caught in the anti-supplement fear campaigns that big influencers spread and I have since repented for my sins in this regard. In this episode I share my experience taking high dose zinc for the past few years and the copper deficiency symptoms I have noticed recently, specifically in relationship to ultraviolet light exposure from sunlight. On day one of supplementing copper again I noticed an increased resilience to sun exposure and less of a burning sensation being outside in the mid-day summer sun. I break down the science of different types of melanin, the exact biochemical processses involved in copper supporting melanin production, what melanin does after it absorbs UV light, what other nutrients we should be supplementing to protect ourselves from sunburn and skin photoaging, the complexity of the zinc/copper ratio and where I stand with it, how you can diagnose yourself for deficiencies using symptoms instead of blood tests, and more.
