Muscle Imbalances, Macro Breakdowns, 4 Day Split, Junior moving to Men's rugby, Weight Gain, Snatch and Clean & Jerk - Rugby Muscle Q&A
So after not shifting the Christmas weight and then putting on another half stone first couple of weeks of lockdown I got my ass into gear and have lost just over a stone. When gyms are back open my plan is to probably out on about 5lbs but want to do this in a 'clean bulk' type way. Best way to go about this in terms on nutrition, macro splits, excess calories per week, etc17 Year Old wanting to make an impact in senior rugbyWhat's more beneficial for rugby, clean and jerk or snatches? I play fly half in Sydney Australia and have a bad a recent run on injury breaking my left fibula and more recently a grade 2 tear in my right ankle. My main concern is building up my legs to a point where I am stronger faster and most importantly prevent further injury. Gyms reopen in 2 weeks here and am super keen to get back into building them up, what would be the best approach to achieve this goal maybe an upper lower 4 day a week split incorporating squats and power cleans? Have goals of playing at the next level. Having trouble gaining a few pounds but I eat right and train right. What else do I need to do to help achieve my goals?Looking at address pectoral imbalance (ie stronger one side) - any advice/exercises? CheersSupport the show

How To Progress with 1 Or 2 Sessions Only In-Season, Morning Training, Top 5 Exercises & More Nutrition
Today's question yo:Thanks for adding me to the group TJ. Im Andy, a scrum-half playing for a small club in Dublin. I would like to know; what are the most important things to work on in the gym during the season if you're limited to 2 (or even sometimes just 1) sessions a week. The reason I ask is because sometimes I find myself spending ages in the gym wondering if I could be getting more benefit from a shorter, snappy session. What are your thoughts in doing Tuesdays and Thursday am sessions with training in the evening?Hi guys wanted to start a discussion, if you had to pick only 5 exercises to do for the rest of your training days what would they be?As an athlete what kind of reading or study materials are best to better understand the relationship between nutrition and the affect it has on your physiology. Any great reading recommendations? Nutrition material on its own I feel is somewhat antiquated and ridden with old guidelines from FDA/USDA. My goal is to educate myself better on the relationship between food and what it does in my body to fuel a workout, game, regular day at work and overall health. What's your go to breakfast on an early am training morning? Go to latenight snack that isn't very bad?More on Rugby Muscle Facebook GroupInstagramYouTubeWebsite with ArticlesSupport the show

Q&A - "Bulking" and "Cutting" Approaches, Playing v Coaching v BJJ, Pre-Game Nutrition, Periodisation Plan
Hi I’m an amateur player just looking to better myself. Would you recommend a cut/bulk cycle for someone looking to gain muscle? If so how would you look to structure it around the season? Differences with playing rugby vs coaching vs bjj My question is about Pre- Game nutrition and eating the right foods on the morning of the game . Aswell as what to eat 1hr prior to Ko as i seem to have no energy in the first 40 but always seem to loads of energy in the second half . Thanks, Hey mate loving the content so far. I was wondering could you outline a typical periodisation plan you’d use for those you coach throughout the year be it during season and off season, and then also the specific cycles you may use during this time and the duration of them? You may of addressed it in previous episodes I’m a new listener! Thanks More on Rugby Muscle Facebook GroupInstagramYouTubeWebsite with ArticlesSupport the show

Westside Training Program For Rugby?! - What is Westside, Why it's successful, What elements you should and shouldn't use.
Todays podcast has TJ and Alex answering the following question:Hey bud. I was just asking if you would discourage completing a strength cycle or conjugate style phase such as west side mid-season? I know this should be done in the offseason but that’s when I would normally be cutting to try to look half decent for holiday On a more lighthearted note, if you were on death row, what would your last meal be?Alex has actually been coached by Westside themselves over the last few months so we're in a really good place to break this down.We talk about what it is, why people are drawn to it, elements of it that could work for you and elements that we think you should consider altering.More on Rugby MuscleFacebook GroupInstagramYouTubeWebsite with ArticlesSupport the show
