Anna Calix was pursuing her master’s degree in public health and working in perinatal care to improve outcomes for moms and babies when her first child was stillborn on his due date. One of the hard lessons and skills many of us learn late in our careers is self-advocacy.  While we may encounter mentors along the way, many times we have to find it within ourselves to self-advocate. These instances occur when we are looking for a promotion, asking for a raise, negotiating our salary and knowing our value.
