The True Impact of Fitness with Alan Shaw

"Every person that comes into Rhapsody, whether they're a member or not ... I think I can say, hands down, would say, 'Man, they are probably the most welcoming community that I've been a part of.' And that's purposeful."In today's episode of the PT Profit Podcast, I had the privilege of speaking with Alan Shaw of Rhapsody Fitness in Charleston, SC. We talk all about the pure humanity of fitness and the sense of belonging that can be fostered. Given a lot of what's been going on in the world over the past year, it was so fantastic to talk to Alan about an organization that fully embraces that and strives to better their community. We get into sales. We get into training. We discuss staffing, clients, and what it would take for Rhapsody to expand. And we talk about attitude, outreach and truly seeing each other and supporting each other as human beings. You'll hear Alan and I discuss:- How important authenticity is from the front desk to coaching to feedback to leaving the gym.- The difference between being a trainer for your client and a coach.- Taking initiative to contribute to the community at large using your business....and a lot more.We really dive into the humanity of fitness and the impact we make on each other as people, and I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it with Alan.About Today's GuestAlan Shaw is the Co-Found, Head Coach, and Head of Community Outreach at Rhapsody Fitness in Charleston, SC. A graduate of the esteemed CrossFit NYC Coaches Mentorship Program, Alan committed to a career in coaching after years working as an actor on Broadway. To date, he has 10+ years of coaching experience, holds a CrossFit Level 3 Trainer, and accumulated 14 specialty certifications/preferred courses. In July 2018, he and his husband, Trinity Wheeler, founded Rhapsody Fitness in downtown Charleston. As Head Coach + Head of Community Outreach, Alan leads and owns all functions within the gym’s four walls to include coaching standards, member relations, facility management, team management, program development, community connections and more.Within its first year, Rhapsody earned a reputation for being the fastest growing gym and primary fitness destination for travelers in Charleston. Over 12 short months, Rhapsody rolled out more than 8 specialty programs including Rhapsody Sweat, Rhapsody Barbell, Adaptive Training, Corporate Wellness, Rhapsody Brain Trust, Rhapsody Coaches Mentorship Program, Rhapsody Athletic Department and Rhapsody 101.Constantly adapting to face the unknown, Alan directed Rhapsody’s response to the challenges presented in 2020 by immediately pivoting to provide members with essential equipment kits, online classes and regular remote check-ins. While neighboring fitness facilities closed their doors or significantly scaled back, Rhapsody maintained and ultimately grew its community by more than 25%. As head of community outreach and development, Alan spearheaded the launch of Sweat + Serve in 2020, which to date has accumulated 1,000+ service hours dedicated to Lowcountry organizations and local initiatives. In the same year, he collaborated with the Charleston Police Department to designate Rhapsody as a Safe Place for LGBTQ+ community members when they experience crimes, discrimination or harassment. Position, Breath and Gait with Dr. Keaton Worland

Welcome back to a brand new episode of PT Profit Podcast!Do you think you move "normally?"Really though, what even is that? Normal?Today on PT Profit Podcast I am talking to Dr. Keaton Worland, a physical therapist and strength trainer. Keaton ruptured two discs and fractured his back in college while pursuing a degree in orthopedic medicine. During this episode, we talk about how his injury happened, building trust and confidence in his patients, and pushing limits. In this episode, Keaton and I talk about:- How Keaton assesses clients and patients.- What he looks for when he observes a person's walk.- How some people try to manage gravity....and so much more!About Today's GuestDr. Keaton Worland is a doctor of physical therapy in Saint Louis, MO, but he is more than just a therapist.  Keaton works as a therapist, performance coach, and as a clinical mentor.  It isn't the various hats that set Keaton apart from his field. It is his unique perspective and  consistent desire to learn more for his patients.  Keaton has been in the shoes of his patients and he understands the process.  He recognizes the difference between the conditioning and reconditioning process and works to consistently navigate these waters.  And though he has formal training through various systems of thinking, Keaton does not subscribe to any one system.  He wants to keep his principles and the patients' needs at the forefront of his decision making process.  This has allowed Keaton to not only get his clients out of pain but also allow them to live the full lives they deserve.  Keaton Worland PerformanceKeaton's InstagramPodcast Review + Bonus OfferIf you enjoy this episode, I would love to hear your favorite part or what inspired you. Leave us a 5-star review over at Apple Podcasts by clicking here. Be sure to screenshot the published review and send it to the team at support@bsimpsonfitness.com, and we’ll send you a very special BONUS episode: How to Optimize your IG so that you can get your first 5 high paying clients even with just 100 followers.BSimpsonFitness LinksBeverley Simpson's 7-Day Social Media Content Planner - Download this FREE 7-day social media content planner, and discover exactly what to post for the next seven days so that you get your first few high-paying clients. "Best Of" Series - The Power of Your Voice

We are back today, coaches, after a short hiatus to look back at a very early episode of the PT Profit Podcast.Back in June, I spoke with Captivate The Room's Tracy A. Goodwin about how the power of your voice is often overlooked when discussing messaging. Messaging isn't just what you say. It's how you say it. While the importance of the words you choose should never be understated, the tone, speed, and confidence with which you say them can make or break your message's impact.During today episode, you'll hear Tracy & I talk about:- How the subconscious affects the voice.- How tone can make or break your messaging.- How fitness professionals can best use their voices.About Today's GuestTracy Goodwin has had the honor of transforming the lives of hundreds of executives, business professionals, celebrities and 7-figure entrepreneurs simply by shifting sounds that are sending the wrong message out of their voice over the past 30 years. She tells people exactly what sounds are not revealing the best version of them and how they are being processed subconsciously by the listener. Using the Psychology of the Voice, she works with clients to go after the drivers that are in their mind and the stories that they are telling because it’s those drivers, that psychology that has put your bad voice habits into place.Captivate The RoomCaptivate The Room on FacebookCaptivate The Room on InstagramTracy's TwitterTracy's YouTube ChannelPodcast Review + Bonus OfferIf you enjoy this episode, I would love to hear your favorite part or what inspired you. Leave us a 5-star review over at Apple Podcasts by clicking here. Be sure to screenshot the published review and send it to the team at support@bsimpsonfitness.com, and we’ll send you a very special BONUS episode: How to Optimize your IG so that you can get your first 5 high paying clients even with just 100 followers.BSimpsonFitness LinksBeverley Simpson's 7-Day Social Media Content Planner - Download this FREE 7-day social media content pl This is a public episode.
