Next Best Step (VS) Next Perfect Step
There's a difference between the next best step and the next perfect step. A next best step is something we take that is in alignment with our core values and truth in that particular moment or phase of our lives. For example, you may be overworked, undervalued and treated poorly at work. Your next best step may be to take a leave of absence for some time, regroup, find your core essence again and rebuild your inner resources. This next best step will serve its purpose for a period of time. When you are full again, a new next best step will be ready to be taken. A next perfect step has a different energy about it. It's often created by the ego which will want to know if the next step is perfect, if it's right or wrong, good or bad and if it will lead to something worth taking the risk. This can leave us in indecision, doubt and heavy in the mind as the need to know that it's a good step is stronger than doing what is best for us in that moment. Today's episode goes into this concept in more detail as I share with you where I'm at in relation to this very topic and how I'm navigating it. What To Do When You Lose “It”
What is "it"? "It" can be your sense of self, connection to the Universe or faith, belief in your dreams, depth in your relationship or self respect. "It" is something that deeply matters to you and for whatever reason, you've lost connection to it.That loss of connection in some way, shape or form has and might still be, contributing to you feeling out of alignment, incongruent and out of touch with your inner being. It's okay, this happens, this is normal and sure, it's upsetting. But there is always a route back to reconnect to "it". Why do we lose connection to what matters? Why would we forgo something that's important for something that isn't? How do we claim "it" back and how long will it take? When Your Values Challenge You
Personal responsibility is one of my core values. It has been for some time and I'm pretty sure it will be for life. I think that because for the first two decades, this value was not my jam. I took little to no responsibility for life and played the victim card often. I feel as though this value empowers and propels me to take action towards the things that matter to my heart which helps me feel aligned, authentic and congruent. Recently, personal responsibility was put to test when a company failed to recycle soft plastics. For the last 3.5 years my family have been diligent in putting soft plastics in the one of four bins we have, so when the company informed the public that they had not been recycling and now the plastics will go to landfill, my heart sank. Not to mention, I went into blame mode and, "ah, well there's nothing I can do, right?"Turns out, there was something I could do. Kat & Steve - Relationships & Money
At the end of each month, Steve and I are coming together on the podcast to share real, raw and relatable when it comes to our relationship. We sat down and agreed that we want to share with you how we powerfully manage difficult conversations and situations in our relationship, so we can be more in our hearts and focus on bigger matters (like loving one another). In today's episode we speak about how we approached money in our relationship. Steve earns more money than me, I'm financially independent, we're in a blended family and have the girls here 50/50 - who pays what? What portion and percentage? Feeling Safe In My Body Again
**Please note, today's episode makes mention of sexual abuse.The end to 2022 was a special one for me. An end that I wasn't expecting, didn't plan but one that I'm sure a wiser part in me knew I was ready to experience. I share openly how much I experience anxiety, often saying to Steve (my partner) that in the last two years, this is the most anxiety I have experienced on a daily basis than I've ever recalled. It seemed odd to us both as I'm in a sweet place in myself and life.Part of me thought, "well, anxiety is something I need to suck up and live with." But another part of me said, "there is something more to explore to ease the intensity." I listened to that part of me and the right people at the right time showed up, and boy was it a profound visceral experience that I'll never forget.Listen in to the episode. Less Push, More Trust
My theme for this coming year (2023) is "Natures Way". As time goes on, it becomes more and more clear to me that what I want gets considered, yet what I need gets delivered. So this years theme seems truly fitting, surrendering to natures way, natures force. Nature has its own plan, its own patterns, its own connections. This teaches us to trust in a higher power, that there are connections forming which we might not see today, and that our place within the whole is becoming and will be revealed in time. Maybe not in my ego's time, but always, in time.Today's episode shares more about this theme, how I came to it (or rather, how it came to me) and already what it's teaching me. Be Sure To Do This When Setting Intentions
In the final episode for 2022 and as we head into that time where new intentions are set, please, listen to today's episode before you get busy setting new goals and intentions. The more I do this work, the more it becomes obvious that a greater force, far greater than my little human ego self, is asking me to surrender more into the unknown and trust it. That in surrender, a certain space is created for deeper parts of us to speak to us, sharing with us matters that matter deeply. I get it isn't easy to hand over your life to an invisible force, but as time as passed I can see that I previously I have tried to control too many outcomes, set goals from my ego and haven't left space for my heart to speak. 2022 Reflections
I set a theme at the beginning of each year and for 2022 it was, flourish.In my little human mind I had it all mapped and planned out, thinking, "bam, I'm gonna flourish from the get go!" When You Act On Assumptions
In October I wrote my journal, "stop holding them in a particular shape. Stop bracing yourself for how think they are going to be. Release them from the shape you're holding them in. Instead, meet them where they're at." This was after I noticed that I was basing my behaviour on how I thought certain people in my life were going to behave. I was going into my, well they always act that way, so because they're like that, I'm going to be like this! It kept me in a low vibe dysfunctional pattern, assumption land and gave no space for anyone to be anything other than what I perceived them to be.More on this in today's episode.
