Rory Linkletter joined the Hoka One One NAZ Elite team in 2019 and will be running his second marathon this weekend at The Marathon Project! He ran his first marathon very quickly after turning Pro in 2:16 and since then has ripped a 61:44 half in Houston and has a full year of training with NAZ Elite under his belt. It is exciting to see what that will produce this weekend.
Originally from Canada, Rory moved to the United States at 6, was a stand out runner in HS and went on to run at BYU. He was a three-time NCAA first team All American in track and field and a three-time NCAA All American in cross country. He helped lead the BYU Cougars to podium finishes at the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Rory ran his first post-collegiate race in the summer of 2019 at the Canadian 10,000 meter Championships where he finished third. He was then named to the Canadian team for the 2019 Pan American Games where he finished 6th. In the fall he made his marathon debut in 2:16:42 at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. He then kicked off 2020 by setting a team record of 1:01:44 at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon–his first ever half marathon. He was second in July at the St. George Showdown 5,000 and 9th in October at the Michigan Pro Half Marathon. (Source – NAZ Elite Website)

Episode 284: Casey Crouse & Trevor DeWitt – One Thousand One City, New Shoe Day
A Bonus episode today coming at you on a Wednesday!! Casey Crouse an Trever DeWitt join me on the show today to share about an amazing project they adventured on this summer called One Thousand One City. This episode is also being aired on the Illuminate Podcast but there’s so much running goodness in it that we gotta air it over here too!
Casey Crouse and Trevor Dewitt are on the show today. Back in June they started a project called One Thousand One City which they completed this September.
One Thousand One City started as a project aimed at connecting the city of Indianapolis by running 1000 miles through its neighborhoods in 100 days. The goal is to meet its citizens, listen to their stories, and share what they have to say.
When the world often seems too big and disconnected, sometimes the best thing a person can do is to set out on their own two feet and simply meet people where they are at.
At its core, OTOC is about taking on a difficult challenge in order to achieve growth towards a better sense of connectedness and understanding to those around us. Through OTOC, another project – New Shoe Day was formed and you’ll hear all about that and their vision for turning it into a non profit in this episode!
Casey is a passionate ultra runner, passionate about movement, self-betterment, connecting to people and sharing personal stories of impact. Both Casey and Trevor work for Edge Mentoring – an organization that pairs young professionals with community leaders, EDGE provides the space for whole-person development while connecting generations in meaningful mentoring relationships.
Trevor is the logistics guy and not only did he run every mile with Casey for this project but he mapped out much of it and made sure the planning was all figured out.
This is a Cross Over Episode- it is also being aired on The Illuminate Podcast! The Illuminate Podcast is another podcast in the Sandyboy Productions network that highlights stories of people doing good work in the World.

Episode 283: Sara Vaughn – Mom of four, realtor, 2017 team USA, pursuing olympic dreams
Sara Vaughn is the mom of four, she works full time as a realtor and is running big mileage weeks in hopes to make the Olympic team next year. To say she is inspiring to me would be an understatement. In 2017, when her third baby was one, she made team USA in the 1500 and competed in London. She has high hopes to do it again and I believe she can.
Sara, who is coached by her husband Brent shares with us what her training is looking like now, one year post partum. We get to hear about how they are changing things up a bit and of course I wanted to know if she’ll ever throw down for the marathon. (She went on an 19 mile long run the other day so I had to ask.) We also talk a lot about family life in this episode. She became a Mom at a very young age, while still attending the University of Colorado, really defying the odds still graduating in just four years. Her kids now range from ages 1-14 so I was super curious about parenting through so many different stages at the same time. One thing I think Sara and I both want to leave you all with is that if you are parent to drop the guilt and that you can still pursue your own dreams while being a damn good Mom.
Enjoy my conversation with Sara!
