Episode 380: Steph Bruce – Reflections on her Career and her Last Year Running Pro

Steph Bruce is on the podcast today for another bonus episode! Steph just had a great race at the Boston Marathon where she finished 12th overall and came in as the 2nd American. She ran a 2:28:02. Steph runs for NAZ Elite under coach Ben Rosario. She was diagnosed with a heart condition recently and has made the decision that this will be her last year running professionally. Steph has previously been on the show 5 times! Episode 379: Carrie Verdon – Breakthroughs in Running for the First Grade Teacher After Some Time Off

Carrie Verdon ran her debut marathon at the Chicago Marathon this past year. She was the 5th American and 7th overall and she ran a 2:31. She ran the 5000 and the 10000 at the Olympic Trials last year. She placed 10th in the 5,000m and 27th in the 10,000m. She ran for the University of Colorado and then took a big break from running after college. She is back now training in full force and is definitely one to watch!Carrie is a full-time teacher in Colorado. Episode 378: Adrianne Haslet, Boston Marathon Special Episode

Adrianne Haslet just completed the Boston Marathon! Adrianne is a Boston bombing survivor and has had an incredible journey to get to the start line of the 2022 Boston Marathon healthy. Though she lost her leg in the bombing she set out with determination and perseverance to one day complete the Boston Marathon. This was her second time completing the race but the first time completing it with a full training cycle. She completed the race in 2016 coming in last place in over 10 hours and this year completed it in 5 hours, placing fourth in the brand new Para Division that she has been a HUGE advocate for. Over the years since the 2013 Boston Marathon, Adrianne has had massive setbacks, including getting hit by a car in 2019 which left her with some serious injuries. In this episode Adrianne shares with us what this race meant to her, training with Shalane Flanagan and running the race side by side with her, and most importantly she reminds us to celebrate our lives – the big and the small. It all matters. It was a joy and an honor to talk with Adrianne for this podcast. Lee Troop is a 3 time Olympic marathoner from Australia. He ran in the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympics. He is now a coach. He coaches youth, community runners, elite runners, and he is very involved in the running scene in Boulder. He is the coach to Jack Riley, one fo the three men who made the 2020 Team USA Olympic Team. He is also the coach to Carrie Verdon who will be on the show next week!He is the father of 3 kids. Episode 376: Malindi Elmore – Boston Marathon (11th Place) & Olympic Marathon (9th Place) Recaps with the Canadian Marathon Record holder

Malindi Elmore is a returning guest on the show! She came on the podcast on episode 222 in January 2020 after she ran the Canadian record in the marathon. Go back and listen to that one first if you want an introduction to Malindi’s story and journey to get to marathoning success.Malindi just ran the Boston Marathon where she placed 11th. She also ran the Olympic Marathon in Tokyo this past summer where she placed 9th! The Boston Marathon was only her fourth marathon. Malindi is the mother of two and at 42 she is running her fastest marathon times and really finding success in this third part of her career. She was a 1500 meter runner and represented Team Canada on the track in the Olympics in 2004 and then went on to compete in Ironman Triathlon where she found success before running her first marathon in 2019 after having their second baby. Episode 375: Bob Kennedy – An Olympian’s Mindset Parenting High-Achieving Athletes

Bob Kennedy is an American Distance Runner, who is now retired. He once held the American record in the 3,000 meters, 2 mile and the 5,000 meters. Bob ran for Indiana University and went on to run professionally for Nike, competing in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. Bob has a 5k PR of 12:58 and Nike has named two shoes after him.I’ve had the opportunity to work with Bob, when he was on the Board of Directors for Back on My Feet Indianapolis and then at Athletic Annex, a local run specialty store in Indianapolis.Bob is also the father of two kids. He has twins. His daughter is very involved with running and his son is a soccer player.
