Episode 386: Stephen Haas – Head Coach and Founder of Dark Sky Distance and Agent at Total Sports
Stephen Haas is an agent and the Director of Operations for Total Sports. He is also the head coach and founder of Dark Sky Distance sponsored by Under Armour. Before diving into being an agent and a coach himself, he was a professional runner and was represented by Total Sports. He ran for Indiana University where he was a 3x All American. He also ran in the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 10,000m and the 2012 Olympic Trials in the marathon. He is an agent for many pro runners including Olympic Bronze Medalist Molly Seidel.

Episode 385: Kendall Ellis – Olympic Medalist Training for the World Championships this Summer
Kendall Ellis made her first Olympic team last year where she won the bronze in the Mixed Gender 4×4 and a gold medal in the Women’s 4×4 relay. She also finished 4th in the open 400m at the trials so she barely missed making it as and individual in the 400m. Kendall also has a gold medal in the 4×4 at the 2019 and 2017 World Championships. She ran for USC where she was a 3-time NCAA champion and 14-time All-American. She is training hard now for the world championships this summer.
Right around the time we recorded this podcast, she was part of the world’s fastest indoor distance medley relay team ever.
I really enjoyed getting to know Kendall and I am really excited to cheer for her in future track events!

Scott Fauble is on the show today for another bonus episode for the Boston Marathon interview series! Scott placed 7th at the Boston Marathon this year with a PR of 2:08:52. He was the top American to finish the Boston Marathon. Scott recently changed training groups and is now working with coach Joe Bosshard. Charlotte Purdue runs for the UK and she just placed 9th at the Boston Marathon running a time of 2:25:26. Charlotte was last on the podcast on episode 190 in July of 2019 if you want to hear more of her backstory. At the 2021 London Marathon she ran a personal best time of 2:23:26 which put her at the third fastest all time British marathoner. She was running really strong and looking to make the Olympic team in Tokyo and was not selected last year. She tells us all about that experience and what her career means beyond making an Olympic team.

Episode 380: Steph Bruce – Reflections on her Career and her Last Year Running Pro
Steph Bruce is on the podcast today for another bonus episode! Steph just had a great race at the Boston Marathon where she finished 12th overall and came in as the 2nd American. She ran a 2:28:02. Steph runs for NAZ Elite under coach Ben Rosario. She was diagnosed with a heart condition recently and has made the decision that this will be her last year running professionally.
Steph has previously been on the show 5 times! She was also on episode 159, episode 207, episode 229, and episode 302.
It was so great to catch up with Steph. It has been a really great joy to follow her career of these years. Thank you Steph for all that you have done for the running community and we cannot wait to see what is next for you!

Episode 379: Carrie Verdon – Breakthroughs in Running for the First Grade Teacher After Some Time Off
Carrie Verdon ran her debut marathon at the Chicago Marathon this past year. She was the 5th American and 7th overall and she ran a 2:31. She ran the 5000 and the 10000 at the Olympic Trials last year. She placed 10th in the 5,000m and 27th in the 10,000m. She ran for the University of Colorado and then took a big break from running after college. She is back now training in full force and is definitely one to watch!
Carrie is a full-time teacher in Colorado. It was fun to hear from her about balancing her work as a teacher while training as a professional runner.

Episode 378: Adrianne Haslet, Boston Marathon Special Episode
Adrianne Haslet just completed the Boston Marathon! Adrianne is a Boston bombing survivor and has had an incredible journey to get to the start line of the 2022 Boston Marathon healthy. Though she lost her leg in the bombing she set out with determination and perseverance to one day complete the Boston Marathon. This was her second time completing the race but the first time completing it with a full training cycle. She completed the race in 2016 coming in last place in over 10 hours and this year completed it in 5 hours, placing fourth in the brand new Para Division that she has been a HUGE advocate for.
Over the years since the 2013 Boston Marathon, Adrianne has had massive setbacks, including getting hit by a car in 2019 which left her with some serious injuries.
In this episode Adrianne shares with us what this race meant to her, training with Shalane Flanagan and running the race side by side with her, and most importantly she reminds us to celebrate our lives – the big and the small. It all matters. It was a joy and an honor to talk with Adrianne for this podcast. What a gift she is to us all!

Episode 377: Lee Troop – 3x Olympic Marathoner & Coach of Team Boulder
Lee Troop is a 3 time Olympic marathoner from Australia. He ran in the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympics. He is now a coach. He coaches youth, community runners, elite runners, and he is very involved in the running scene in Boulder. He is the coach to Jack Riley, one fo the three men who made the 2020 Team USA Olympic Team. He is also the coach to Carrie Verdon who will be on the show next week!
He is the father of 3 kids. He is really open and honest about his running, his coaching, and some really hard times that he has walked through.
