Episode 456: Whittni Orton-Morgan – From NCAA Champion to Taylor Made Elite

Whittni Orton- Morgan is on the show today! She is a professional runner for Adidas and is on the new team, Taylor Made Elite, coached by Diljeet Taylor. If you have been following along our coaching series, we wrapped up the coaching series this past Tuesday with an episode with Diljeet so it was really fun to hear from both coach and athlete on the podcast this week! When Diljeet started coaching at BYU in 2016, that was Whittni’s first year there as well. It is so exciting to see them work together in Whittni’s professional career as well! Whittni was the NCAA National Champion in Cross Country in 2021 and that came after some setbacks and she talks about how she processed all of that and how she got to the starting line ready to go and at peace. We talk Whittni’s faith in this episode and what that means to her. We also get to hear about what she is excited about. She has had a really great first year as a pro. She placed 2nd at the Millrose Games. She also ran a 4:23 mile which put her at the 9th all-time US indoor mile. She was 2nd at the USATF Indoor Championships. Episode 454: Sanya Richards-Ross, 4X Olympic Champion, NBC Sports Analyst, Mommination Founder & Real Housewives of Atlanta Co-Star

She became the first American woman in 28 years, and only the 2nd in history, to be crowned Olympic Champion over 400m at the 2012 Games in London. Episode 452: Eric Avila – Pro Runner for Adidas on Burnout and Finding the Love of Running

Eric Avila is an Adidas athlete. He is a US National Road Mile Champion. After years of training with the Golden Coast Track Club, he has recently shared that he is now being coached by Ron Warhurst and training with the Very Nice Track Club out of Michigan. He is a 4-time national champion from Southern Oregon University and 6-time all-American. He also talks about his time at NAU and coming back to school at Southern Oregon.  In this episode, we talk about his road to becoming a professional athlete. Kevin Hanson has coached high school athletics, everyday runners, and professional runners. Over 20 years ago, Kevin and his brother Keith started the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project. They saw a need for training groups in America and they started their own! The model that the Hanson’s team set up has been followed up by many other groups throughout the country and the world. The Hansons-Brooks team has produced 4 Olympians, 12 National Champions, 30 World Championship team members, 75 US National Team Members, and 186 top 10 finishes at US Championships. Some of the most notable runners that have run with the Hanson’s are Des Linden, Bryan Sell, and most recently, Natosha Rogers. Michele Gonzalez is back on the show! Michele was first on the show on episode 16 back in 2016. Some of you may remember her as NYC Running Mama. Sheila is a two-time Olympian in the heptathlon, she is a five-time US national champion, she is a world championships bronze medalist and in the 2004 Olympics she placed 4th. Episode 448: Bailey Kowalczyk – Nike Trail Pro; The Balance of Health and Performance

Bailey Kowalczyk is a trail runner. I learned a lot in this episode, I love talking to trail runners! She recently signed a contract with Nike running with their trail team. She burst onto the trail scene in 2020 and she had some really great FKTs (fastest known time). Most recently, she had a really great race at the Golden Trail Series which is a stage race were she placed fifth overall. In this epsidoe, we go back to her day srunning at Clemson University. Bailey had some significant troubles at Clemson, she was medically released due to disordered eating. She moved to Boulder, Colorado after that and discovered trail running. Today’s episode in this coaching series is with Ryan Hall! Ryan is one of the greatest American distance runners of all time! Ryan Hall is a two-time Olympian for the United States in the 2008 and 2012 Marathon. He is the fastest American to ever run the marathon (2:04:58) and half marathon (59:43) distances. Ryan retired from professional running in January of 2016 and is now one of the founders of Run Free Training.
