Dr. Eleanor Glass, using improvement to reduce physician burnout
Dr. Glass is a third generation Dr. Glass! She is committed to and excited to start a Direct Primary Care practice in Cincinnati, inspired by the legacy begun by her grandfather, a primary care doctor in England. Dr. Glass is building a family medicine practice which supports both patient and physician in the pursuit of health.As a faculty member with the University of Cincinnati's Department of Family and Community Medicine, Dr. Glass served as a primary care doctor at The Christ Hospital Family Medicine Center. In addition, she broadened her clinical experience by serving as medical acupuncturist for the Center for Integrative Health and Wellness, teaching clinician in the newborn nursery and the office procedures clinic, and staff member at The Christ Hospital Urgent Care Center. Dr. Glass has been recognized with many awards for her studies and clinical work, including: Intern of the Year, Marjorie Grad Vockell Award for Humanism and Compassion in Clinical Care, Gold Humanism Resident as Teacher award, AOA induction, and as Preceptor of the Year. John Shook, Chairman Lean Global Network; Senior Advisor, Lean Enterprise Institute
John Shook learned about lean management while working for Toyota for 11 years in Japan and the U.S., helping it transfer production, engineering, and management systems from Japan to NUMMI and other operations around the world. While at Toyota's headquarters, he became the company's first American kacho (manager) in Japan. In the U.S., Shook joined Toyota’s North American engineering, research and development center in Ann Arbor, Michigan as general manager of administration and planning. His last position with Toyota was as senior American manager with the Toyota Supplier Support Center in Lexington, Kentucky, assisting North American companies adopt the Toyota Production System. Shook co-authored Learning to See, the book that introduced the world to value-stream mapping. He also co-authored Kaizen Express, a bi-lingual manual of the essential concepts and tools of the Toyota Production System. Lynn D. Martin, MD, MBA is the Medical Director, Continuous Improvement and Innovation at Seattle Children’s. He is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics (adjunct) at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He received his M.D. from the University of Washington and his M.B.A. for the University of Tennessee. He completed residencies in both Pediatrics (Phoenix Children’s Hospital) and Anesthesiology (Johns Hopkins University) followed by fellowships in pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins University. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology with specialty certification in pediatric anesthesia and the American Board of Pediatrics with specialty certification in pediatric critical care medicine. Dr. Martin has served as the president of the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia.
