A to Z Dear Jack 08 | "Conflicted Companion"

Dear Jack,I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you with a dilemma that has been weighing heavily on my mind. I have a best friend with whom I've shared countless experiences, joys, and challenges over the years. Our friendship has always been based on openness and trust, but recently, I stumbled upon a secret about them that they have kept from me.The nature of the secret is not harmful, but the fact that they withheld it has left me feeling conflicted. It's not a trivial detail, and it has made me question the level of transparency in our friendship. I find myself torn between the desire to confront them about it and the inclination to respect their privacy. On one hand, I understand that everyone has aspects of their lives they may not be ready to share. On the other hand, our friendship has thrived on honesty, and this revelation feels like a breach of the trust we've built.I'm unsure whether I should address the issue directly with my friend or let it go, trusting that they will open up when they're ready. I value our friendship immensely and don't want this discrepancy to strain our relationship. How do I navigate this delicate situation without jeopardizing the bond we've worked so hard to build?Thank you for your time and advice.Sincerely,Conflicted CompanionPodcast Website:https://atozenglishpodcast.com/a-to-z-dear-jack-08-conflicted-companion/Social Media:Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/671098974684413/Tik Tok:@atozenglish1Instagram:@atozenglish22Twitter:@atozenglish22A to Z Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/theatozenglishpodcastCheck out our You Tube Channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCds7JR-5dbarBfas4Ve4h8ADonate to the show: https://app.redcircle.com/shows/9472af5c-8580-45e1-b0dd-ff211db08a90/donationsRobin and Jack started a new You Tube channel called English Word Master. A to Z Quick Tok 73 | Do you think with your head or your heart?

In this episode of The A to Z English Podcast, Xochitl and Jack discuss whether they make most of their decisions by using their heads or their hearts.Transcript:00:00:00JackYou're listening to the A-Z English podcast.00:00:14JackWelcome to the.00:00:14JackA-Z English podcast My name is Jack and I'm here with my co-host social and today we're going to do another quick talk episode and we have a very simple question, but maybe it's not so easy to answer. The question is, do you think more with your head or your heart?00:00:36XochitlAnd at the at the basis of this, if you think more with your head, you're more of a logic based thinker. And if you think more with your heart, you're more of an emotions based thinker.00:00:46JackRight.00:00:46XochitlI think I don't know if this is a fair answer, but I think I'm a happy medium I try.00:00:55XochitlTo handle my impulses and just sit on them. And I also try to think of things logically, but.00:01:01XochitlUltimately I do.00:01:04XochitlThink I'm a little more of an emotions based thinker. I have a hard time.00:01:09XochitlSticking to long term goals or responding logically in a situation, I tend to go with what I feel in the moment. Umm and and I.00:01:20XochitlThink that that.00:01:22XochitlMakes me more.00:01:23XochitlOf an A.00:01:25XochitlI think more with my heart than with my head.00:01:29XochitlYeah. How about you, Jack?00:01:32JackNo, I've actually words on the same page these days because I am also I think more with my heart than my head. If I thought more with my head, I would you.00:01:47JackKnow I would definitely.00:01:49JackPlan things out or gain things out better.00:01:52JackYou know, if I like a chess player, you know, I play chess about.00:01:57JackOne move ahead, you know, and when I play with people who are are good at playing chess, they're, you know, they're planning.00:02:06Jack10 moves ahead.00:02:07JackRight. They're like if I do this, Jack will do this. Then I'll do this. Jack will do this, you know? And they're already predicting I'm. I'm just not built that way. I I my I follow my heart.00:02:21JackAnd usually it leads me to a pretty good result. I yeah, a good outcome then? Yes, exactly. I'm.00:02:32JackI'm trying to think.00:02:33JackOf some examples, but it's just like.00:02:37JackYou know, some things. Look, some things look.00:02:40JackBad on paper. Do you know what I mean? It's like, you know, like, for example, let's start a podcast, a Language learning podcast.00:02:49JackOK, there's only a million of.00:02:50XochitlRight.00:02:52JackThem you know what are the?00:02:53XochitlRight.00:02:53JackOdds that we're going to be successful, like if.00:02:56JackI followed my.00:02:57JackHead. I'd be doing a, you know, podcast about, you know.00:03:05JackI don't know.00:03:05XochitlSome really niche.00:03:06XochitlThing that no one else.00:03:09JackRare South American.00:03:09XochitlIs sada.00:03:11JackTree frogs or something you know like.00:03:13XochitlRight, yeah.00:03:13JackI I don't know.00:03:15JackBut but but I followed my heart because because I this is what I wanted to do. You know, it's like this is what I'm I'm passionate about teaching English. I'm passionate about language. I know you're passionate about language. You're translator. You're you know you.00:03:34JackYou you understand 2 languages fluent, you know, as a balanced bilingual. So it's like our appreciation for language and things. It's like, OK, it may look bad, it may be bad logic to choose this path.00:03:49JackForward. But if we follow our hearts, we could probably find success. You know that way. And so if I only followed my head, listen to my head or think with my head, I'll never really take a risk or do something, you know, kind of, you know, look crazy. But if I if I think with my heart.00:04:10JackAnd I follow my heart. Then I know that my passion can carry me through, even though maybe my plan.00:04:18JackIs not perfect.00:04:19JackI don't know if that makes sense.00:04:21XochitlNo, I think it does make sense.00:04:24XochitlAnd UM.00:04:26XochitlI get it.00:04:26XochitlYeah, I think it makes sense and I think.00:04:30XochitlI agree with you. I think we we both.00:04:34XochitlOur guided by.00:04:35XochitlOur hearts, I think ultimately it's LED some good outcomes, more than trying to plan it out in a.00:04:43XochitlA logic based way. I think our our one of our old team members Kevin, I think he was maybe more logic based than either.00:04:50XochitlOf us, yeah.00:04:51JackYeah, I think so, maybe.00:04:53JackYeah. Well, what, what do?00:04:54JackYou think? What? What would you, how would you?00:04:56JackBecause you you need both, right? I mean you.00:04:58JackCan't be people that act with all.00:05:00JackArt are, you know, and only follow their emotions are going to get themselves into trouble sometimes eventually. I mean, it's going to happen. So I would say I'm more of like a 7030 person.00:05:09XochitlRight, right.00:05:16JackIs that where put yourself?00:05:16XochitlWhen you need your just to hold you back, I think, yeah, I think I'm probably 6.00:05:22XochitlWell, yeah, I'm probably 703070 heart and 30 logic.00:05:25발표자OK.00:05:28Jack70 hard, 30 logic right? I've got enough logic to kind of you know, so I can still feed myself, you know? But I, you know, I can still get to work like I know that I can follow directions. You know what I mean? I'm not just going like it feels like work. Is this direction. You know? I don't. I'm not like, you know, 100% on my heart.00:05:30발표자OK. Yeah.00:05:45발표자Right, right.00:05:48JackYou know, we need some, we need logic, right? We need reason. But I think you know, if I did a calculation, I'm probably somewhere around. Yeah, 30706040, something like.00:06:01XochitlYeah, alright, listeners. Well, if you're more logic based or more emotions based or EG you think with your head or your heart, let us know in the comments and we'll see you guys next time.00:06:16XochitlOh, make sure to check out our website at ozenglishpodcast.com. A to Z Quick Tok 72 | What's your favorite Disney movie?

In this episode of the podcast, Xochitl and Jack discuss their favorite Disney movies.Transcript:00:00:00JackYou're listening to the A-Z English podcast.00:00:12JackWelcome to the A-Z English podcast. My name is Jack and I'm here with my co-host social. And today we are going to do a quick talk episode and the question is what is your favorite?00:00:25JackDisney movie what is your favorite Disney movie?00:00:30XochitlYeah, that's a hard one.00:00:32JackYeah, I'll let you jump in first.00:00:34XochitlWell, I guess Pixar was bought by Disney.00:00:40XochitlSo I'm gonna go against the grain just because so many of the classics battle it out for the first place in my heart.00:00:48XochitlAnd say.00:00:51XochitlLuca from Pixar?00:00:53XochitlIs one of my favorite.00:00:55XochitlHave you seen that one?00:00:55JackReally, no, I haven't seen it yet.00:00:58XochitlI feel like you have to see it because I love all the classics. There's so much nostalgia there. I can't just pick one.00:01:06발표자There's the new.00:01:07XochitlMovies that have come.00:01:09XochitlLuca is the first movie I saw in a long time I saw. I think it came out in like 2019 or 2020.00:01:18XochitlThat made me feel.00:01:19XochitlLike I was a child again.00:01:22XochitlIt had so much like nostalgic feel.00:01:26XochitlAnd so much like.00:01:30XochitlIt just it was a beautiful original story and it was very nostalgic and it made me feel like a child again. And it was full.00:01:36XochitlOf so.00:01:37XochitlMuch childlike wonder, and it was beautiful. I just loved it. And.00:01:44XochitlYeah, I think.00:01:48XochitlI I think that's gonna have to be my favorite for that reason.00:01:51JackOK. Well, I'm just surprised you chose. You chose a rather new movie, like Lucas pretty.00:01:52XochitlHow about you, Jeff?00:01:57XochitlI know.00:01:58JackAnd it's also maybe one of the one of the lesser known Star Movies.00:02:03XochitlNo new ones. Yeah, it's like an underrated thing, but it's beautiful. It's a beautiful movie. You have to watch.00:02:07JackRight.00:02:10발표자I think it got good.00:02:11XochitlIt but yeah.00:02:12JackReviews, you know, critics liked it. I just think it just didn't resonate with people. Probably.00:02:19JackYou know, maybe sometimes it's something as as simple as just the name. They probably looked at it. Look, they don't know what it's about. It's not, you know, it's not like Toy Story, which is a story about toys, you know, it's.00:02:31JackLike what's Luke? What is?00:02:31XochitlRight. Well.00:02:34JackA Luca. I don't know what that is. I'm not gonna, you know, watch it.00:02:38XochitlThink it was released like in a bad time like theaters had just shut down because of COVID 2 and like I believe part of the the animation and like voice acting and stuff had to be done from home because of the virus.00:02:53JackOK.00:02:54XochitlBecause I think it came out in like 2020 and it like was.00:02:57XochitlFinished. You know, they finished working on it in 2019. I'm not 100% on that, but it was something like that. So it was difficult.00:03:06JackYeah, yeah, yeah. It's a lot of stuff. Got lost in the shuffle of COVID-19. Just maybe some classics kind of slipped under the radar and people missed out on them. And so, I mean, this is good. Like, you're giving it a good endorsement here.00:03:08XochitlBut it was.00:03:24XochitlYeah, watch it.00:03:25JackAudience members check out Luca. Yeah.00:03:29XochitlYeah. How about you, Jack?00:03:31JackI'm going to go.00:03:33JackI've got a couple deep cuts here these.00:03:36JackAre I'm torn between 2:00. The first one is the black cauldron. Have you ever heard of this movie? The black cauldron?00:03:46XochitlNo, I think this is before my time, Jack.00:03:49JackThis came out in 1985.00:03:52XochitlYeah, that's like 10. That's eleven years before I was even born.00:03:57JackThis is when they used to still draw draw the uh movies. You know, they had one guy in an office drawing all the the all the, you know, pictures.00:03:57발표자OK.00:04:08발표자I don't know.00:04:10JackBut yeah, this was very much kind of like.00:04:15JackKind of like a dungeons and Dragons. Kind of a story. You know, elves and and witches. And, you know, obviously called right. And the cauldron was black as far as I remember.00:04:24발표자Right.00:04:29JackI don't really remember this movie at all, like I can't remember the story, but I it is the first movie that I ever saw in a movie theater.00:04:40JackSo 8 years old, seven or eight, and it's the first time I had ever gone to the cinema. And so that was the I, I I as soon as I walked out of that movie theater, I'm like, turned to my cousin. And I said that's my favorite movie I've ever. That's the best movie I've ever seen in my life.00:05:00JackYou know well it was.00:05:02JackThe only movie I've ever.00:05:03XochitlThat's it.00:05:03JackSeen. Yeah, in a movie theater. But yeah. But it was. It has a special place in my heart for, and it's not considered a Disney classic at all. As a matter of fact.00:05:14JackUM, it got a lot of bad press or publicity because it was said to be demonic and you know, like.00:05:24JackYou know, witches and all this. Yeah, yeah.00:05:25XochitlWitchcraft and all that.00:05:28JackAll that sort of stuff.00:05:31JackThe second one that I really enjoyed, I saw when I was in my mid 20s.00:05:37JackOur early 20s and it was called the Emperor's New Groove.00:05:42XochitlOh my God, I loved that. That was like one of my. That was my other contender for top. I was like, you know, this is my favorite. I love this one. It's updated. I was about when you were done. Just telling your second one I was gonna be. I was gonna go and be like if we can do 2 then emperors new groove is up there and it's so funny because you just said I'm for his.00:05:46JackYes, in such an underrated movie.00:05:50JackRight.00:06:01XochitlNew groove and that's definitely one of my favorites.00:06:03XochitlAlright, go ahead and explain.00:06:04JackWhy you I love it. Because it's so weird.00:06:08JackWeird. It's like it's wickedly strange, right? It's way. It's weird. Funny. It's absolutely weird. Funny. Like the there's just. It's so punchy. Like, there's so many jokes. It just one after the other. And the old lady character, the Eartha Kitt, is the voice is so.00:06:10XochitlAnything funny?00:06:26XochitlYeah, yeah.00:06:28Xochitl8-9.00:06:29JackOver the top and her like man, slave kind of guy. It's so funny.00:06:33XochitlYeah, crunch. Yeah.00:06:37XochitlIt was funny because, like I've seen, I rewatched this movie periodically. I've seen all the classics, but emperors. New groove is like on the top of.00:06:44XochitlOnes that I rewatched.00:06:47XochitlAnd it's so funny. And there's, like, so many things that as an adult, because I I saw it as a little kid, I saw this in theaters. I saw them, this new group in theaters.00:06:56XochitlThe little kid, really little kid I was.00:06:58XochitlLike less than six years.00:07:00XochitlOld when it came out.00:07:02JackThat's so funny.00:07:02XochitlAnd I found it.00:07:04XochitlTo be so funny. Yeah. And you're in your 20s. Yeah, that makes sense. I was like, I found it to be very funny.00:07:12XochitlAnd as an adult, there's so many.00:07:15XochitlThings about being.00:07:15XochitlA pick up on.00:07:18JackYeah. It's not a kids movie. I mean, it's a kids movie, but there are a lot of, like, a lot of jokes.00:07:24JackIn there for.00:07:24JackAdults see we when I saw my my roommate.00:07:28JackWas a worked for a worked for Fox.00:07:33JackOn the fox.00:07:33JackLot in Los Angeles, so she would get boxes of movies before they're released, you know, so that people could watch them. The Academy could vote. So you know, because they're some of the people in her office were Academy members.00:07:34XochitlOhh cool.00:07:50JackAnd so they get to vote for the best movies, but they don't watch the movies in the movie theater. They have to watch them at home. And at that time it was all on tapes. So she would come home with three or four brand new movies that weren't even in the theater.00:08:06JackThat and we would like watch them on TV. And so we she's like, let's watch the Emperor's new.00:08:13JackGroove and I was like.00:08:14JackWant to watch this stupid Disney movie? This is going to be ridiculous, and then we popped it in and we were just howling like it was so funny. Ohh my gosh, it's such a funny movie and I think people that don't know about it. Yeah.00:08:36XochitlYou don't like it?00:08:39XochitlIt was like on the edge of the Disney Renaissance or something like that. And it was like they gave. They greenlit it because they the studio didn't really know what to do. I read about this at some point and I, and I'm gonna misquote a lot of information because I don't remember.00:08:56XochitlIt fully what?00:08:57XochitlThey said, but it was something like they.00:09:00XochitlIt the project because the studio didn't really have a direction at the time and.00:09:08XochitlThey just went ham with it. Basically they were allowed to do all the jokes and all the crazy characters and everything and the characters are so different from any Disney.00:09:21XochitlMovie because, uh, Cisco, the Emperor is not.00:09:28XochitlReally a great guy at the beginning. He's a horrible guy. Yeah, and.00:09:32JackRight, right.00:09:35JackHe's not likeable. He's a David spade. He's the the, he's a comedian and he's a sarcastic comedian. Like, that's his whole stick. Yeah, I did.00:10:05JackRight. It's like the it's like a May may December relationship you know the the old woman has this like young, you know, muscle muscular guy.00:10:12XochitlYoung guy, he was 28 years old and he's like, really muscular and young and like, it's just a funny.00:10:20XochitlIt's a funny premise because.00:10:23XochitlEverything about the movie is just like bizarre, but yeah, this is definitely one of my up there with my favorites and it's an underrated thing too.00:10:31XochitlDefinitely underrated fave.00:10:34XochitlYeah. Well, let us know. UM, what your favorite Disney movie is and give our favorite to try. I guess. Jack and I both recommend the Emperor's New Groove. A to Z Ghost Stories 01 | Faces in the Water

The Ghost of the SS Watertown (November 1924):In November 1924, two sailors, James Courtney and Michael Meehan, aboard the SS Watertown, an American tanker ship, met a tragic end. They were cleaning a cargo tank when they were overcome by gas fumes and died. The bodies were given a burial at sea.Soon after the burial, crew members began reporting eerie sightings. To their astonishment, they claimed to see the faces of Courtney and Meehan in the water alongside the ship. The faces were said to be ghastly and surrounded by a spectral, greenish mist. The sightings persisted and became a regular occurrence, with the faces appearing whenever the ship was at sea.The captain, Keith Tracy, was skeptical at first, but when he and other crew members also witnessed the apparitions, he decided to document the occurrences. The ship's logbook recorded multiple sightings of the ghostly faces during the voyage.Upon returning to port in New York City, Captain Tracy reported the strange events to his superiors. Surprisingly, a clergyman and a photographer were brought in to investigate. The photographer managed to capture what appeared to be the faces of the two deceased sailors in the water. The images were deemed genuine, and the story gained widespread attention. The faces of Courtney and Meehan became known as the "Faces in the Water" and were featured in various publications. The haunting tale of the SS Watertown and its ghostly apparitions remains one of the more unusual and mysterious stories in maritime history.Podcast Website:https://atozenglishpodcast.com/a-to-z-ghost-stories-01-faces-in-the-water/Social Media:Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/671098974684413/Tik Tok:@atozenglish1Instagram:@atozenglish22Twitter:@atozenglish22A to Z Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/theatozenglishpodcastCheck out our You Tube Channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCds7JR-5dbarBfas4Ve4h8ADonate to the show: https://app.redcircle.com/shows/9472af5c-8580-45e1-b0dd-ff211db08a90/donationsRobin and Jack started a new You Tube channel called English Word Master. A to Z Dear Jack 07 | "Betrayed"

Dear Jack,I've been married for seven years, and I recently discovered that my husband has been keeping a significant secret from me. It turns out that he has a hidden bank account with a considerable amount of money that he never mentioned. I stumbled upon it accidentally while trying to organize our financial documents.I feel betrayed and hurt that he didn't trust me enough to share this information. When I confronted him, he became defensive and said he wanted a "safety net" in case things went south in our marriage. We've always prided ourselves on open communication, and this revelation has shattered my trust. How should I handle this situation? Is it reasonable for him to have a secret stash of money, or should I be concerned about the state of our marriage?Sincerely,BetrayedPodcast Website:https://atozenglishpodcast.com/a-to-z-dear-jack-07-betrayed/Social Media:Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/671098974684413/Tik Tok:@atozenglish1Instagram:@atozenglish22Twitter:@atozenglish22A to Z Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/theatozenglishpodcastCheck out our You Tube Channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCds7JR-5dbarBfas4Ve4h8ADonate to the show: https://app.redcircle.com/shows/9472af5c-8580-45e1-b0dd-ff211db08a90/donationsRobin and Jack started a new You Tube channel called English Word Master.
