Dr. Hasier has served as Chief of the Geography and Map Division at the Library of Congress since 2017 overseeing 5.6 million cartographic items. Hasier graduated with a Ph.D. in Transatlantic History from the University of Texas at Arlington. She previously earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Northern Illinois University, a master’s in history, and library science from the University of North Texas. She worked public, academic and special libraries, then transitioned to the private sector at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and lastly to the chief of the U. S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s GEOINT Research Center.

She has also worked on developing holistic knowledge management strategy, inclusive of authored content and other knowledge streams and designing content taxonomy to enable teams to write and maintain reusable content modules.
In addition to this role, Stephanie has over 20 years of experience in financial services operations, across learning & development, self-service strategies, customer service line leadership, and knowledge management. Prior to joining HealthStream, Polly was part of a nationally recognized medical informatics organization at Vanderbilt University and a National Library of Medicine Informatics Fellow. She has collaborated with researchers and published evidence-based systematic reviews through Vanderbilt’s AHRQ funded/Evidence-Based Practice Center (EPC) and the Department of Emergency Medicine.
In her current role, Polly contributes vision and thought leadership towards information architecture development and standardization at HealthStream. She is the knowledge expert for taxonomy creation and metadata application to business processes and is focused on growing customer and internal stakeholder satisfaction with content discovery and management using semantic technologies.
