Grace + Boundaries: Navigating Intergenerational Trauma with Erin Hearts
Erin Hearts
Grace + Boundaries is a weekly memoir in a podcast! Follow host, Erin Hearts, as she shares how she navigates trauma while setting boundaries from her higher self. Traumas, big or small, can add up to broken relationships within a family. These traumas continue being passed down until we take steps to repair and mend our broken hearts with self-care and psychological education. Gaining emotional maturity is also a large part of the path towards grace and boundaries. Erin has walked the path of trauma recovery for the past decade, and is learning day by day how to evolve from the hurt she feels in order to become the graceful, loving woman she has always intended to be. Erin has a Master's degree in Education, creatively teaches middle school, is a musician, and loves being a single mom to her tweenaged boy. Grace + Boundaries has been the name of this podcast since July 2023. From November 2021- June 2023, this podcast was called "Self-Care for Survivors of Trauma." This podcast is a community of honest, open-minded survivors of all types of trauma, big and small. Each week, host Erin Hearts will discuss an aspect of self-care- emotional, physical, spiritual, etc.- and share how she navigates life's challenges by doing special things for herself and making time for herself each day. Erin believes that learning how to take care of ourselves is the key to healthy relationships with others, and she's devoted the past six years to studying and practicing how to better love and support herself and her loved ones. Erin is a single mom, teacher, musician, and highly sensitive person. Instagram: @iheartserin

Episode 68: How Media Choices Affect our Mental State
Have you ever noticed your body reacting to media? I'm talking about scenes in a movie making you cover your eyes, or videos that you happened to glimpse that you wish you could un-see. Or, maybe you've even read some sensationalized news that made you nauseous or evoked rage. I share some experiences I've had lately with the affects of media on me and my son, two highly sensitive people. I showed my son a couple PG-13 movies that made an impact on him (arguably too much) where I learned he's not ready to see any more truth of life at that depth.A show I watched recently had a very provocative birth scene where there was bodily abuse by the doctor towards the mother. I share about how watching this scene made me cry for a couple minutes and also helped me possibly release some intergenerational trauma leftover from my own birth. How does media affect you? Do you think of media consumption as a CHOICE? Let me know what you think! Find me on Instagram or join my Facebook group Survivors of Trauma Unite! Episode 65: Taking Suicidal Ideation Seriously
If you've experienced thoughts of suicide, then you've had "suicidal ideation." These thoughts can be active or passive. I share some information about these thoughts today on the podcast because someone close to me has been feeling this way. I can relate, because I experienced passive suicidal thoughts while being in an emotionally abusive relationship. I take passive suicidal thoughts seriously. To mean it means we may not actively be pursuing completion, but we desperately need help for our mental state. Reaching out to others is the first smart step. Please make a call if you're experiencing thoughts such as these. In the USA you can dial 988 for mental health help, or simply 911. Episode 63: Stranger than Fiction; A deep dive into my Jr. High Trauma
**Trigger Alert! This episode contains discussion of sexual abuse**I felt compelled to share a story from my 8th grade year in jr. high school, circa 1993. I had a serious EMDR session last weekend with my therapist, where we unpacked some behaviors that have been ailing me. I've had some insomnia due to a hypervigillent part of me that needs to be perfect to avoid public humiliation. There's also some body dysmorphia leftover from messages I received about how my stomach looked as a young child and beyond. Those are elements of trauma recovery that I discuss in today's episode, along with a deep, humiliating, loss of innocence that I experienced in a room full of 13-year-old girls. Healing is possible!
