Hormonal Issues: Why Diet and Exercise May Not Be Enough
In this episode, I talk with Dr. Jannine Krause, a Naturopathic Doctor and Acupuncturist, to discuss the various hormonal issues that can affect both men and women, even if they have a perfect diet and exercise regimen.
Dr. Krause begins by explaining that hormones play a vital role in our overall health, including our mood, energy levels, and weight management. However, there are many different types of hormonal imbalances that can occur, and they can be difficult to diagnose without the help of a healthcare professional.
One of the most common hormonal imbalances that Dr. Krause sees in her practice is estrogen dominance. This occurs when there is an excess of estrogen in the body, which can lead to symptoms such as weight gain, mood swings, and irregular periods. She explains that this can be caused by a variety of factors, including environmental toxins and stress.
Another hormonal imbalance that Dr. Krause discusses is low testosterone in men. She explains that this can lead to symptoms such as low libido, fatigue, and decreased muscle mass. She emphasizes the importance of getting a proper diagnosis from a healthcare professional, as low testosterone can be caused by a variety of factors, including sleep apnea and certain medications.
Overall, this episode provides valuable insights into the various hormonal imbalances that can affect our health and well-being, and highlights the importance of seeking professional help to diagnose and treat these issues.
