207 | Whitney Tingle and Danielle DuBoise of Sakara Life on Friendship, Business & Cooking from Scratch + more
I've loved Sakara Life from a far. I read their online magazine and loved their branding but it wasn't until I moved to NYC when I finally tried their delicious food. Turns out I like the founders, best friends and NYC transplants from Sedona Whitney and Danielle even more than I love their brand. In the episode we discuss access to healthy food, living a healthy life - the why, what Sakara means, starting a business from scratch, passion vs. mission, the joy factor, mind-body connection, finding balance in life, being busy vs. being efficient, what it's like to work with your best friend and so much more. Enjoy the episode.

206 | Dr. Cybele Fishman on how to handle pimples, dermatology trends and all things skin!
When I mentioned I was having a skin expert on the podcast in the listener facebook group I received more questions than I ever have. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks, talks, and wants to know more about skin. We feel with it, we see it, and it is the biggest organ we have so it makes sense. This episode is hyper focused on the topic of skin but we cover so many issues related to it. Including acne - why it’s not just for teenagers, blending natural remedies, how to handle a big pimple, winter skin, LED facials, micro pinning, rosacea, and skin trends. Dr. Fishman is so smart, experienced and knowledgable in her field in both traditional and natural remedies. This conversation was focused and specific yet we covered so much in a short time.

203 | Cheryl Miller Houser on Personal Growth, Taking Risks, Film Making, Entrepreneurship + more
I've met so many fascinating women since moving to New York including today's guest Cheryl Miller Houser. Soon after I arrived we were seated next to each other at a dinner party hosted by pervious podcast guest Phoebe LaPine and bonded over the city I'd just moved from: Detroit. While Cheryl is basically a life-long New Yorker, she had just come off a project were she made a feature film in Detroit. Cheryl's film Generation Start-up (available on Netflix) follows six young fellows starting business in Detroit. I not only loved her film but I loved Cheryl and was fascinated to learn more about her, her career path and any wisdom I got learn from her. In our conversion discussed mentoring relationships, entrepreneurship and millennials, why we should do things outside our comfort zone, personal growth and challenging ourselves, the importance of startups/entrepreneurs for economic growth, an inside look at indie film making, parenting as children become adults, working in film production, advice for cold calling/emailing, how we cut off our connection to opportunity around us, having time vs. making things a priority, body image and being more than your body, and so much more. I loved this conversation and I think you guys will too.

202 | Ashley Glynn on Soul Tattoos, Being Embodied, Connection, Slowing Down, Plant Medicine + more
Today's guest might be the brightest and most magnetic person in the world. I connected with Ash after I read an article my friend Deenie wrote for Refinery 29 about her experience getting an intuitive tattoo in Brooklyn. I was intrigued and enamored with the concept of an intuitive Soul Tattoo and wanted to know more. The intuitive tattoo artist was Ashley Glynn, an illustrator, photographer, tarot reader, and spiritual healer living in Brooklyn at the time. After connecting with Ash over email and running into her at the space she worked out of in Brooklyn, Minka she agreed to do the podcast. It took us forever to schedule but eventually one perfect night this fall we drank tea and talked for hours. Ash has such a joyful, angelic, calming aura about her. As soon as I walked into the apartment she was staying at my heart rate lowered. I loved every second of our heart warming conversation that covered her entire life-story including being raised by her southern tarot loving grandmother, touring with Stevie Nicks, losing her beloved grandmother, art school, fashion school, and eventually discovering her passion: soul tattooing. We discuss self-care, tapping into your intuition, why we need to slow down, how we hold energy in our bodies, the importance of being comfortable in your body and skin, being embodied, grounded, connecting to breath, feeling empowered, breath work, flower medicine, and much more. Ash is magnetic and this is one of my favorite conversations I've ever had so I'm so glad it was recorded.

201 | Anula Maiberg of Sixth Street Pilates on the potato method, impostor syndrome, rethinking 'body diversity' and more!
A few years ago I realized my body is something called hypermobile meaning my joints easily move beyond the normal range expected. While I loved teaching and practicing yoga, I wanted to try something for more strengthening. My best friend at the time was training to become a pilates instructor giving me the ideal opportunity to become her Guinea pig and explore pilates. Turns out I loved it. When I moved to NYC I hoped I'd find a studio I loved. Luckily, I stumbled upon Six Street Pilates and discovered the very cool owner Anula. From her style, to her instagram, to her philosophy and teaching I knew I wanted to have her on the podcast, attend her all her classes, and become her friend. We struggled to find a time to sit down to record this between her travel schedule and mine this fall so eventually we settled on recording this late one evening. We're both pretty sleepy and loopy by the end which makes the episode weird and special. We discuss community, being 'familiar strangers,' in-person connections, the Potato Method, what pilates is, and it’s history, the combination of pilates and art, impostor syndrome, feeling bad and that being okay, depression, the problem with the term ‘body diversity,’ and so much more.

200 | Sahara Rose Ketabi on Ayurveda, Writing, Purpose and Dharma, Manifestation, Meeting Deepak Chopra + more
Two-hundred episodes of this podcast seems like a huge milestone I'm pretty proud of. We've discussed so much on this podcast including sex and using vaginal jade eggs, our periods, birth control and it's impacts on the body. We've discussed relationships including everything from dating, to friendship to parenting, to motherhood to divorce. We've talked about wellness all over the spectrum including, aging, beauty, fitness, meditation, yoga as well as cooking. We've covered body image at length including intuitive eating and emotional eating. We've discussed mental wellness including the importance of community. We've also spoken about creativity with actors, actresses, writers, directors, musicians, and comedians. This episode covers a little bit of all of those topics. This week's conversation with guest Sahara Rose is a long one, yet I never wanted it to end (we even had to take a bathroom break in the middle). We take a deep dive intro her wellness speciality: Ayurveda (she literally wrote the Idiot's Guide to Ayurveda), food as healing medicine, eating disorders and control related to them, the connection with bodies, creativity, writing a book, and the publishing process. She fully breaks down Ayurveda is, including what doshas are, her top Ayurveda tips utilizing it in daily life, dharma, how chakras connect to it, shamanic shaking, tongue-scraping and more. This episode is robust and packed with ancient wisdom that Sarah has modernized brilliantly. Her advice on family is one of the best answers I've gotten on that subject and she tells a magical story of a meaningful coincidence that changed her life and mine once I heard her tell it. I love this episode and the two-hundred that have preceded it. Thank you so much for listening.

199 | Sam Eckstein and Jordan Feldman of Springbone on Simple Cooking, Working with a Best Friend, Conflict Between Taste and Wellness + more
I sure love a good wellnessy cafe where I can order everything from avocado toast to chia pudding to a Reishi mushroom tea but what I love even more is a good story. Today's guests Jordan and Sam are long best friends and co-founders of Springbone a cafe I discovered just a couple weeks after moving to NYC and soon became a regular at. Springbone specializes in simple, natural food that blends taste and health with ease in every recipe. While I came in for the coconut milk soft-served I stayed because the founders Jordan and Sam were the nicest. Being super new to the city, the two native New Yorkers flooded me with suggestions of places I'd like all over the city. We shared an interest in simple cooking that didn't sacrifice taste for health and I was curious on how they went from working in finance and real estate to starting their dream business . All my questions and more were answered on this week's episode. We had a tangental conversation as usual where we covered working with your best friend and tips on how to keep both the friendship and business strong as well as their advice for being an entrepreneur in a field you aren’t an expert in. We discussed what health and wellness means to them, their thoughts on family, relationships, and spirituality. I loved talking to them and I'm so psyched to hang out with them more and hopefully you at our podcast meet-up at Springbone this week, RSVP here.
