220 | Camilla Ruth Marcus founder of Westbourne on Food as an Experience, Community, Angel Investing, Love Languages and more

I discovered Camilla soon after moving to NYC and her instagram quickly became my most screen-shotted account. She inspires me in so many ways from her aesthetic and taste to her philosophy of entrepreneurship and community to investing, and of course in food. We talk about her robust and meandering education and career path, food as an experience, modern philanthropy models, how the restaurant industry can open doors for anyone, accidentally plant based food, opening a restaurant, work/life balance, angel investing, intuition, relationships and love languages, mentorship, women in business , and way more. I loved having this cozy, long conversation with her in beautiful cozy apartment surrounded by her family, friends, and snuggly dogs and hope it's the first of many. “There are no mistakes, because there is always another choice.”“If you are too focused on a plan sometimes you can miss the other opportunities that are out there.”“Philanthropy is more about aligning with brands, wearing brands, purchasing things and voting with your dollar everyday… not about the massive donations.”“Learning and curiosity is innate to all of us and it’s important to foster that.”“Every time you make a choice, you have a choice to make an impact.”

213 | Kimberly Johnson of Magamama on rethinking sex, the Me Too Movement, pregnancy's fourth trimester and more

I serendipitously met Kimberly Johnson founder of Magamama at an event this fall in NYC where she was speaking. Her talk was brief yet I walked away massively inspired and her content stuck with me long after that interaction. I instantly knew I wanted to work with her one-on-one and have her on the podcast. On her recent trip to New York this winter I had a session with her, which was eye opening. After experiencing her work first hand, I sat down with her the next day to record this conversation where we spoke about everything from how she got into this work as a “Vagina proctor,” to the Me Too Movement to slowing down sex, painful sex, communication in sex, to pregnancy, birth healing, and her new book The Fourth Trimester, and much more.
