Burnout, Creativity, and Being Enough in 2021

In this solo episode of Authentic Conversations, I open up about the burnout I started to experience at the end of 2020, what led to a resurgence in my desire to create, and why ENOUGH became my theme for 2021. Frameworks Make the Dream Work with Jake Jordan

Jake Jordan is the Chief Clarity Officer for Quirk Advertising, the Founder of Impact Over Attention, and a double podcast host (yup, two). He is focused on improving content and messaging performance for cause-driven organizations. Jake and I met through LinkedIn and I was immediately drawn to his desire to do right and his relentless pursuit of helping individuals and organizations making a positive impact in their communities. I was fortunate to hear Jake share his belief in the benefit of frameworks for business and life, the uniqueness of B-corps, why he loves helping other organizations that operate for good cause, amazing marketing tips, and so much more. I would also like to apologize upfront as my audio in this episode (due to Zoom issues) was subpar. Reflecting on 2020 and Projecting for 2021

The year-end often has us considering how well we did, where we measured up, and what we are going to do the following year. While there are other great practices (and many really bad ones) for reflecting on your year, as well as setting yourself for a new one, I wanted to share a few questions (6 actually) that you can ask yourself to reflect and project. I hope this episode helps you to not only learn from your efforts over the last year but also causes you to set yourself up for your best year yet in 2021. Being at Your Best to Bring Your Best with Andy Neary

Andy Neary is a keynote speaker and performance coach. He’s also a former professional baseball player, Ironman athlete, and 20-year veteran of the health insurance industry. But most importantly, at least to me, is he’s a good buddy. Andy was on the podcast last year and after all of the growth he’s experienced in his business (and life) over the last year, I had to have him back. Here are a few highlights from an episode full of ‘em. The ultimatum Andy’s girlfriend gave him to shut up or fully commit to the business he dreamed of. Andy’s realization that the only thing that will stop him, is him. The fight to be “good enough” (imposter syndrome). Why self-investment is a huge key to success. How to improve when adversity hits. Give this episode a listen and then make sure to connect with Andy. You won’t be disappointed. Be Grateful for What’s Happened to You

I was recently given the opportunity to close out an amazing session on gratitude with 100+ colleagues and friends. In this week’s episode, I share my closing excerpt on how we can look at gratitude and thankfulness in 2020. I challenged the audience, and I will challenge you, to: Dig deeper into the area of gratitude. Grow in your ability to see good in the midst of hurt, heartache, and loss. I hope you enjoy this episode and look forward to your feedback. Human Behavior and Performance with Brian Bogert

Brian Bogert’s story is a crazy one. As a young man, his arm was literally ripped from his body in a freak accident. Twenty four surgeries later, his arm was rebuilt to function once again. Crazier, many years later he nearly lost that same arm a second time. From that point forward, and throughout Brian’s life, he has continued to face adversity in many areas. But he believes that through it all, his greatest takeaway was learning to embrace pain to avoid suffering and gain freedom. Brian and I hit on so many topics throughout this episode, including his success as a performance coach, a motivational speaker, an insurance practice leader, and as a husband and father at home. I promise that you will gain so much from listening to all that Brian has to share. Politics, Religion, and Other Off-limits Topics with Kody Fairfield (part 2)

We’ve long heard people say that talking about politics, religion, and other socially-charged issues were no-nos in business or even at the Thanksgiving dinner table. While I get the reasons why this is the case, I just don’t feel that’s the approach to take if we ever seek to reunite a deeply divided nation. What’s fascinating to me is that like it or not, I’ve had more and more people asking for my opinions on a lot of these issues. Maybe it’s because I’ve gained some influence in the business community? maybe it’s because I currently serve as a pastor of a small church? Or maybe it’s because I’m a white male and not enough of us are speaking up and speaking the truth. In this episode of the podcast (part 2 of 2), I was fortunate enough to have my friend Kody Fairfield join me in discussing a lot of these highly charged and extremely important topics. Kody has a background in politics and is an all-around really smart guy with a huge heart so I’m sure you’ll appreciate a lot of what he has to say. As you listen, I encourage you to do so with an open mind and an open heart and more than anything, a lot of grace. You may not agree with some of the things we say and as a matter of fact, some of the things may actually make you angry. While I understand that that could happen, I want you to know but I’ll still be your friend regardless of how you think about the things I think and how you think about these topics yourself. As always, thank you so much for listening and supporting me on this journey to be the best version of the person that I believe God has created me to be. The Limited Nature of Human Kind with Eddie Williams

Eddie Williams is a former 5-year NFL veteran, a pastor and the creator of Ex Nihilo Health, a site for biblical wellness. Eddie and I get right into discussing the lack of control we really have and how today’s volatile culture demonstrates that so (unfortunately) well. This episode spanned so many topics, including leadership in difficult seasons, the need to create true identity, racism, and so much more. Give it a listen. And if you would be so kind, share it with a friend and give us a great review. Thank you!
