JC Cummings is a leader in Human Resources and has made an impact on many large (and recognizable) organizations. But the impact she is making in bringing light to dark places in people’s lives is even greater. JC was very transparent in sharing her upbringing in a home riddled with addiction and dysfunction, how she stood up to a powerful leader when he crossed the line with her, and how she is actively working to heal from her past and grow into her future. Harris III is a world-renowned speaker, storyteller and entrepreneur. He is the creator of Transformation Theory and author of the bestselling book, The Wonder Switch. Harris impacted my life personally back in 2017 when in the midst of a magic show that he was performing for a business conference I attended, he told a story of wonder and imagination that stuck with me to this day. At that point, I began following him on social media and learned last year he was releasing a book, The Wonder Switch. As I read The Wonder Switch, I further believed in the need to learn from more life growing up and understand not only how my life’s story got me to where I am, but how my life’s story can be used to impact others. In this podcast episode, Harris and I discuss the misuse of our imaginations as adults, the difference between child-like and childish, the lies we tell ourselves that damage our wonder (and ability to tell our story), his definition of wonder and how to explore it, and so much more. He even blew my mind at the very end with a concept called “liminal space”. I may be new to the party, but it’s definitely a term with digging into (especially in our current times).
