Growing Big Dreams & Manifesting Your Heart's Desires with Robert Moss
Robert Moss has been a dream traveler since doctors pronounced him clinically dead in a hospital in Hobart, Tasmania, when he was three years old. From his experiences in many worlds, he created his School of Active Dreaming, his original synthesis of modern dreamwork and ancient shamanic and mystical practices for journeying to realms beyond the physical and growing creative imagination. He has led popular workshops all over the world, including a three-year training for teachers of Active Dreaming and online courses for the Shift Network. A former lecturer in ancient history at the Australian National University, he is a New York Times bestselling novelist, poet, journalist, and independent scholar. His many books on dreaming, shamanism, and imagination include Conscious Dreaming, The Secret History of Dreaming, Dreaming the Soul Back Home, The Boy Who Died and Came Back, Sidewalk Oracles, and Mysterious Realities. His latest book, Growing Big Dreams: Manifesting Your Heart's Desires through 12 Secrets of the Imagination is a passionate and practical call to step through the gates of dreams and imagination to survive hard times, travel without leaving home, and grow the vision of a more abundant life so rich and strong that it wants to take root in the world. He has lived in upstate New York since he received a message from a red-tailed hawk under an old white oak. The conversation we had is incredibly pertinent to today's very turbulent times. Robert calls it a 'dream drought', where we now need to tap into resources and sources beyond the obvious. Dreams are the language of the soul. This is where dreams come in, and not just the dreams you have at night. He explains the different kinds of dreams you can have, the magic of how they work in helping you to manifest your heart's desires and how to start now. Here are some wonderful tips to help you start to reopen your relationship with your dreams, of all kinds: Start with your night time dreams and begin to journal about them each morning. Journaling tells the Universe production team, so to speak, that you're ready to record and to listen. Try and remember your first and the last dream you had and write about it (this opens you up to being a vessel for connecting more to your dreams) Get in touch with your magical child self --- whatever it was that you enjoyed doing, start doing more of that NOW. Meditate and grow a vision in your mind of where you want to go directed from your heart center. Find an object that represents this image so you can better touch, taste and feel it. This level of consciousness is known as the 'privileged zone of consciousness'. Give yourself permission and time for day dreaming and to lay around horizontally before you sleep or right when you wake up to connect at a deeper level. This will help you to access the I-land (get it, instead of Island?!) of your heart's deepest desires. One of my favorite quotes (and chapter titles) from Robert is that 'You don't have to drive used Karma' and 'The stronger the imagination, the less imaginary the results'. Finding Radical Compassion with Tara Brach
Tara Brach is an internationally known meditation teacher, psychologist and author of bestselling Radical Acceptance and Radical Compassion. Her popular weekly podcast is downloaded 3 million times a month. Along with Jack Kornfield, Tara leads the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) serving participants in over 50 countries. This was by far one of the most touching and moving interviews I've done. It is clear that Tara embodies incredible presence, loving kindness and the qualities of the divine. There were so many beautiful words of wisdom here that I hope touch, move and inspire you as much as they did for me. I believe that self-kindness and ending the war with ourselves is one of the most important steps to waking up and changing our collective story to one of collaboration and community. Read on for Tara's brilliant nuggets of wisdom: When you're in a challenging time, as we all are now, Tara shared that it's important to start with "This is hard." It's real and raw and affirms what's going on. When we get stressed, we turn against ourselves and get into a 'trance of unworthiness'. We start to believe "It feels bad, so I'm bad." Being at war with ourselves is the biggest issue. Real transformation happens when we decide to be kind to ourselves. Let your intention be to be kind to yourself, and start there. You might say "Please, may I be kind." A practice Tara uses in her own life, especially during the pandemic, is to bookend her day. She starts the day with "Please, may I be open hearted, open to love and kind." In the evening she'll scan the day to see what happened. No matter what, be kind to yourself and don't get into blame or judgment. Tenderness with ourselves helps to decondition this negative inner voice. Whatever you practice becomes your practice. Set the intention to be present and loving. What really matters right now is waking up together, holding hands. We need to wake up out of separateness because we belong together as one energy and one spirit. Meditation doesn't have to just be sitting down, it can be you taking a walk in nature, singing, yoga or lying on your back feeling into your body. Tara shared a great piece of fun advice, "put your tush on the cushion and no judgement." A Surprising New Definition of Wealth with Asmâa Methqal
Asmâa I. Methqal is a connection catalyst, trainer, facilitator, business strategist, and an advocate of Feminine Leadership. She is passionate about helping women entrepreneurs and executives unlock their highest potential, activate their feminine power, and launch their dream business from their zone of genius, so they can live a life of connectedness and fulfillment. Asmâa is known for her authenticity, passion, and engaging conversations! Her clients love her dynamic and depth expertise in Business, Branding, Design Thinking, Movement Therapy, Emotional Intelligence, and Appreciative Inquiry. Asmâa is the founder of Fire and Flow. Asmâa shares her story growing up in Morocco being stifled as a female with ambition and desire to have her own business. She left without any support and headed to Canada where she proved herself and created a successful marketing business, but only to find herself exhausted, drained and unhappy. She took a deep inner journey and found her intuition and feminine essence that had been buried years earlier as a little girl in Morocco. Here are some of the take-aways from our conversation that I think can help anyone in excavating your most authentic self. Don't be afraid of the blank canvas. Embrace times of change and new possibility. With regards to intuition --- if you hear a small whisper, it's your intuition. If you hear a loud voice yelling at you, it's your ego. Our bodies are incredibly wise. Pay attention to any ailment or issue as it will always point to an underlying emotional reaction to heal or address. The ultimate expression of wealth is being comfortable with yourself within and all the way through. Take your pleasure seriously! Make time for pleasure and joy every single day. Overcoming Patriarchy Stress Disorder (PSD) with Dr. Valerie Rein
Dr. Valerie Rein has discovered Patriarchy Stress Disorder (PSD) and created the only science-backed system for helping women achieve their ultimate success, happiness, and fulfillment by healing the collective, inherited trauma of oppression. She holds a Master's degree in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University and a PhD in Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Her bestselling book and programs have helped thousands of women ditch the game of survival, of "how much can I bear?" and master the game of thriving, of "how good can it get?" Dr. Valerie is a sought-after speaker and trainer at conferences and companies committed to setting new standards of excellence in diversity, equity, and inclusion, employee satisfaction and physical and mental health, and creativity and innovation. You can find Dr. Valerie on drvalerie.com. Dr. Valerie shares that her one question that plagued her entire childhood, 'What is wrong with me?', ended up being the question that unlocked her pathway to deeper self-love and worthiness. As someone that would seem to have it all; a thriving psychology practice, family, and wellbeing, Dr. Valerie found herself in the ER room with her left side completely numb only to find out her diagnosis was stress. She began to dig deeper and realized after learning about epigenetics that this stress was genetically passed down, just as trauma is genetically transmitted, through the thousands of years of patriarchal dominance. Throughout the centuries, it hadn't been safe for women to thrive and have their own money or be overly attractive. This trauma has a real impact, and Dr. Valerie started studying what she now calls it as Patriarchal Stress Disorder or PSD. You can learn healing techniques in her book, although the most important one to know is that nothing is wrong with you and you are unconditionally worthy. You can get the first chapter of her book at drvalerie.com/resources. How To Forgive No Matter What with Shannon Bobo
Shannon Bobo is host of "AT HOME WITH SHANNON BOBO", a show that started through a 30 day challenge due to Covid Stay at home orders. Shannon currently works both behind the scenes as a casting professional and in front of the camera as an actor, host, and stand-up comic. She has been in and has helped cast countless on camera commercial ads, film, and television. She is an active member of SAG/AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. (American union representing professional performers). Shannon is writing a book called "A Funny thing happened on the way to forgiveness" and is an advocate for finding peace through forgiveness, self-love, and healing. She is a certified reiki healer and energy alchemist. She is an advocate for healing and forgiving through comedy. She is an ambassador for PAVE Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment, an organization that provides support and advocacy for people who are survivors of sexual trauma. She has a focus on helping as many people as possible find their voice and creating a space for everyone to feel heard. Shannon currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. (Visit www.shannonbobo.com for more details.) You-est You sacred listeners, there was so much inspiration shared in this episode. What spoke to me the most was Shannon's ability to be compassionate with herself and others who have transgressed or abused her in the past. Shannon struggled with playing small and limiting beliefs of needing to struggle to be successful. She learned how to be her "Bio Queen" self (inside joke, listen in to hear what that means). :) She is a true light worker and shared how to stay in your own light, especially during a darker and more fearful time, as many have felt with this pandemic. Some of Shannon's practices (emphasis being practice, as we never fully arrive) is: Find a Board of Directors - meaning a small circle of those who will cheer you on and support you on your journey to fully expressing in your highest self (or You-est You). Clear yourself through what she uses as Accessing Consciousness, a clearing statement that has you clear whatever happened in the past and look to create what you truly desire in the present. The premise is to just let it all go. Journaling as a tool for deeper gratitude and appreciation, and connection to your true self. Take lots of salt baths and heal, rejuvenate and reconnect to you through water. Be wary of too much triggering media - look at disturbing, upsetting and fear based media and social media as a 'prayer request' and send that person compassion and a prayer. The most important focus right now is to learn to TRUST; yourself and in knowing that all is well and that you are always protected. By trusting and surrendering to a higher order or divine intelligence will allow you to be in a state of flow, gratitude and grace. Shannon also shared that she reads the Optimist Creed Prayer daily (see below). Here is the the Optimist Creed Prayer: Promise Yourself To be SO STRONG that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the GREATER ACHIEVEMENTS of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance AT ALL TIMES and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have NO TIME to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. The 6 Ways to Expand Your Capacity with Lisa Fabrega
Lisa Fabrega is a leadership coach who helps ambitious people expand their capacity to handle more growth, wealth & success. For more than ten years, she has helped entrepreneurs, corporate executives, Academy Award nominees and Nobel Prize organization candidates break through boundaries that have been holding them back from their next level. Her signature approach enables clients to reach their highest levels of success and impact. Lisa has addressed thousands of people both on stage as a keynote speaker as well as when she appeared on podcasts including The Unmistakable Creative, Her Rules Radio and Tell Me A Story with Debra Silverman. She's also been featured on CNN, Yahoo! News and The Huffington Post. She splits her time between Florida and California with her two rescue dogs, Luna and Sadie. If you're an entrepreneur or someone who wants to make an impact in the world, be it in your business, with your children or in your community...listen up! My interview with Lisa was incredibly eye opening as she discussed the common misconception and trap we all fall into. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck or at a plateau, Lisa is here to share that this has nothing to do with finding a better strategy or plan. In fact, it's all about your capacity. Lisa learned this the hard way when she maxed out in her own capacity and started losing track of her own inner guidance and pushed herself beyond the breaking point. As a result, she suffered from adrenal fatigue, exhaustion, anxiety, and feeling depleted spiritually, emotionally and physically. What felt like a hellish year with no end, ended up being her greatest gift. Lisa learned how to build capacity to create the business and life to match her highest potential. She now teaches these principles with thousands of individuals around the globe. Here's a behind the curtain explanation of Capacity and the 6 types. First off, Lisa defines capacity as "The ability to hold, handle and receive your next level of work, wealth and health." In order to do this you must change how you see yourself and ask yourself, 'Who do I want to be and become'? The 6 Types of Capacities are as follows: Financial Capacity: The ability to earn, save and invest more money every year. Visibility Capacity: To be fully seen, especially the parts of you that want to hide. Purpose Capacity: Having your inside match your outside and living your purpose. Embodiment Capacity: This is all about emotional capacity and handling emotions and issues as you grow. Structural Capacity: This is the foundation, the support and scaffolding of your empire and home. Do you have teams support your next level? Boundaries Capacity: This is about what we say 'yes' and 'no' to, or how we make specific requests of the Universe around what we're available or not available to do. The 4 Pillars of Capacity are: 1. Discernment 2. Sovereignty 3. Equanimity and 4. Boundaries Lisa talked about the necessity of experiencing friction when upleveling to a new capacity, as you are learning what it feels like to be that person you dream of. Growth comes from going into the unknown and taking baby steps. Watering the Seeds of Humanity with Larry Brown Jr.
Larry Brown, Jr. is the National Director of the NAACP's ACT-SO--a national achievement program, serving approximately 10,000 African-American high school students across the country in STEM, Business, Humanities, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Culinary Arts. Prior to ACT-SO, Larry was a communications professional specializing in Digital Media Marketing, Advocacy, and Television Production. During that time, he won a local Emmy Award in the National Capital Region. When he's not advocating for justice and youth, Larry loves to take on projects to feed his core as a community volunteer, and consummate creative. He also loves to paint and cook. Check out his hashtag #EatWithLBJ! Larry is a proud native Detroiter and alumnus of Howard University. He is married to his wife Candice for seven years. They are the proud parents of Greyson and Elle! Larry and I met as co-hosts of the TV show, The District Life, with DCTV, and I was smitten by his wit, smarts, knowledge about all things DC and passion for justice. We talked about what it takes to become the best human being you are meant to be as well as how to start healing the trauma and pain in our country and to affirm that black lives matter. We also discussed his incredible work changing lives of black youth in America by supporting their passions, gifts, talents and pairing them with expert mentors and coaches. Extraordinary performers and leaders like Lauryn Hill, Jada Pinkett Smith and Alica Keys were all students in the ACT-SO program. Here are some important insights and ways you can be your best self and uplift humanity: You need a little baggage to help you in life. Don't shy away from your baggage as it's part of what helps you become your best self. To be your You-est You, be the same person in all circumstances; at work, at home, with friends, in the grocery line wearing your mask, getting gas or at church. This builds congruence and harmony within yourself. Healing is possible in any situation when you add presence, being intentional and forgiveness. Black Lives Matter is an affirmation. Lean in to know someone and their history, not just the surface level information. Become an ally and someone who stands side by side with the black community by taking action. Donating is great, but do more to take supportive action like becoming a member of the NAACP, the National Urban League or Color of Change (all links are below). Overcoming Unworthiness with Disney Musical Star Dan DeLuca
Dan DeLuca is a Disney Musical Star, theater and television actor, best known for originating the role of Jack Kelly on the First National Tour of Disney's Newsies. He has starred in dozens of shows across North America, and has helped develop new musicals alongside the greatest theater composers of our time including Stephen Schwartz, Alan Menken and Martin Charnin. Dan is currently enrolled at Quantum University specializing in emotional intelligence/mindfulness and is writing, directing and starring in his own web series based on the science of self-development entitled "The Invisible Things". The show is an introduction to the basics of the mind/body connection, the science of rewiring your brain, and regulating your stress levels through comedy, animation, puppets, and musical numbers. The show is meant to inspire and uplift the audience while focusing on positive psychology and the science of self-empowerment. Dan was living his dream, literally his dream of being a star on broadway for Disney as the lead role of Jack Kelly in Newsies, when he started to lose his voice. Feelings of fear and lack of worthiness started to creep in and he entered into what he calls a dark year of the soul and full self-sabotage. He was landing more dream roles but turned them down due to the issues with his voice, which he later realized were all due to his over-achieving people pleaser way of being. It wasn't until he saw a therapist who recommended becoming present, that things started to change. He began to read as many books on personal development and neuropsychology as possible. Dan found Wayne Dyer, Don Miguel Ruiz and Dr. Joe Dispenza, who taught him the science behind changing behaviors and learning to go within. Dan's entire career pivoted and today he spends time teaching both children and adults how to incorporate mindfulness in their lives, especially as it pertains to their theatrical and film work. The dark year of his soul, leads Dan back to his 'You-est You' and he is now able to sing better than ever (spoiler alert: you'll get to hear Dan belt out a few notes at the end of the interview). Some of the key take-aways from this empowering and inspiring conversation: Find time for stillness every day. If you don't have 5 minutes, you probably need 20. Getting still and going within allows your thinking mind to rest and your higher self to connect. Learning to get still has helped Dan turn around his entire life. We're all inherently deserving and worthy of goodness and of our dreams coming true. The more you come home to yourself and find ways to be kind and loving to yourself, the more you will know this for yourself and everyone. A great way to pause the overactive thinking mind is to ask the question, "Who is thinking this thought?" or "Who is observing the thought right now?" Tune into that answer; what's left is who you really are. To learn more about Dan's Mindfulness In The Arts program, go to mindfulnessinthearts.com. Lena is also the Head of Mindfulness for Welzen, a mindfulness meditation app featuring practices and programs to enhance your health and happiness. Raised in a hybrid Buddhist/Christian household, Lena was introduced to meditation as a young child. Today, this mindfulness foundation has grown into a deep passion to guide others on a journey towards inner peace, emotional balance and a felt sense of wholeness. Lena has been featured in various media outlets including the New York Times, Modern Luxury and World Traveler magazines. Please visit her website to learn more about her practice and schedule of wellness trips, retreats, and continuing education offerings: www.lenafranklin.com. We dove deep in this conversation and talked about Lena losing her mother and how she connects with her on the other side. We also discussed ways to stay present and use this time at home to go within and shed layers not serving you anymore. Here are some of the main take-aways: 1. Ask yourself how can you live differently? What is wanting to be let go of and released, both habit patterns, routines and thoughts? 2. Use the 3 A's, a portable mindfulness practice to use anywhere. The first A stands for acknowledge. Acknowledge your uncomfortable feelings first. The second A stands for Accept. Breathe in acceptance and you might say to yourself: 'My darling, may I accept that this is part of my awareness right now?' The third A is for Alternative Action. You get to choose a new action rather than yelling, slamming a door or losing your cool. Come up with new actions you can take like focusing on your breath, taking a quick walk or time out, to rewire and shift your pattern. 3. Speak to yourself in compassionate loving words like you would with a child, such as calling yourself beloved, my darling, sweetie, etc. It might feel weird at first, but over time it will feel loving and kind. Additionally, Lena led a beautiful bonus mindfulness meditation that incorporated grounding yourself and connecting to the present moment. Enjoy! The Secret to Unconditional Love with don Miguel Ruiz Jr.
At the age of 14, don Miguel Jr. apprenticed to his father don Miguel Sr. and his grandmother, Madre Sarita. From that early age, he was called upon to translate Madre Sarita's prayers, lectures and workshops from Spanish into English. In this way, through constant repetition and review, he learned the content of her teachings in both languages. Through interpreting for Madre Sarita, don Miguel Jr. came to understand the power of faith. He saw first-hand how she manifested her intent to heal people, both physically and spiritually. don Miguel Jr.'s apprenticeship lasted 10 years. When he reached his mid-20's, his father intensified his training. At the apex of this power journey don Miguel said to his eldest son, "Find your way out. Go home and master Death by becoming alive." For the past 13 years, don Miguel Jr. has applied the lessons learned from his father and grandmother to define and enjoy his own personal freedom while achieving peace with all of creation. Today, he is married and has two young children. As a Nagual, he continues to pass along the wisdom and the tools of his family's traditions in helping others to achieve their own personal freedom and optimal physical and spiritual health in his lectures and workshops. Miguel Jr. has taken the lessons of his father and grandmother, and discovered his own personal path to freedom. Being able to apply his teachings to the world around him gave Miguel Jr. a new understanding of the lessons his father and grandmother had passed onto him, once again giving him the desire to pass on this awareness through his books. He is the author of the books: "The Five Levels of Attachment", "Living a Life of Awareness", "The Mastery of Self", and "The Don Miguel Ruiz's Little Book of Wisdom". He also co-authored the book, "The Seven Secrets to Healthy, Happy Relationships" with his dear friend, HeatherAsh Amara. He now helps others discover optimal physical and spiritual health through his books, so that they may achieve their own personal freedom. Miguel Jr. is wise way beyond his years, and clearly picked up so much deep learning from his grandmother and father. We talked a lot about unconditional love, letting go of judgment and the need to help our elders, especially now. Some of the main points we talked about are: A moment of clarity with action becomes a pivotal moment in life. If you don't take action, it just remains a theory. Making an agreement means saying yes - we are always at choice in all aspects of life. The biggest gift you can give yourself is to take 100% full responsibility and to choose your yeses and nos wisely. Nothing can make you feel inferior or less than without you accepting it or believing it. Unconditional love means being able to see your whole self as you are and to have full acceptance.
