How to Listen to Your Soul with Gabriela Blandy
Meet Gabriela Blandy Gabriela Blandy is a fully qualified Life Coach and NLP Practitioner. She is a personal and professional development expert with over fifteen years' experience working with writers, creatives, and entrepreneurs. She has also trained in the Shamanic Medicine Wheel with The Spirit of the Inca. Stopping the Hustle & Grind I had the honor and pleasure of coaching and working with Gabriela about a year ago as she wanted to get off the incessant grind and hustle train and learn to hear her inner voice and deeper wisdom. She felt exhausted, working weekends without time off, noticing a continuous cycle of comparison and competition. While successful on the outside, Gabriela wanted to stop the crazy burnout and connect back to her passion and true purpose. She was afraid of losing momentum but knew where this kind of continued overworking and overwhelm would lead. Her soul was asking for more -- more nature, more nurture, and more deep connection. Listen to Your Soul Gabriela Blandy's soul was asking for a new way of doing business, of self-expression, and a way to feel passionate and fulfilled that wasn't at the expense of her mental and physical wellbeing. Gabriela talked about the shift that happened when she decided to invest in her soul and start coaching together. She realized that she had just bought something for her soul rather than her ego or fear. What ensued over the next year was miraculous to guide and observe. She woke up to a way of being so many of us find ourselves paralyzed by -- the constant hustle and rushing around that has you spreading butter on your toast while scrolling through text messages, checking your calendar and trying to take a photo here and there for a decent social media post. She started to see the patterns of being spread thin and feeling disconnected from any sense of presence or deeper purpose. Detoxing Your Lifestyle What came next was a surprise to Gabriela, and she shares how the two questions she asked herself led to a total shift in her business and life. Driven to spend more time in nature and to detox her lifestyle from screens and constant scrolling, Gabriela took her first five-day excursion into the forest. She asked herself, 'Who am I? and What is my purpose?' What followed surprised and delighted her. It was not a response she had heard before and certainly wasn't attainable while being mired down in emails, zoom meetings, and workaholism. She felt a deep knowing that she was meant to spend more time in the forest and that something important was shifting within her that would become the new bedrock for her career and purpose. Forest trips became Gabriela's new way of unplugging, and soon she found wisdom being channeled from her encounter with the trees and nature that helped to rewire her nervous system and brain. It was a detox on all levels instigated by the forest. Trusting Your Inner Guidance No Matter What Gabriela Blandy shares the power of learning to trust her inner guidance and started to see the ripple effect of this positive change in all of her relationships and business. The Surprising Power of Intentions with Lynne McTaggart

Meditation vs. Intentions If you haven't yet read Lynne's two books: The Power of Eight and The Intention Experiment, get thee to Amazon and order both STAT. They will glow your mind! I asked Lynne about the difference between meditation and intentions because they can seem similar yet have profound different results. Much of Lynne's work is around the hidden and surprising superpower of using the power of intentions for a specific desired outcome for greater healing and manifestation. In sum, meditation increases your alpha and delta brain waves. Meditation is typically a practice where you use a mantra or sit in silence. On the other hand, intentions activate the parietal lobe, and all brain waves are lowered. The right frontal lobe, the area where worry and doubt are triggered, also goes down when sending an intention. The other amazing thing about sending intentions is that this altruistic act touches both the sender and receiver, and a greater ecstatic sense of oneness occurs. Lynne shares that with sending intentions, you must focus on a thought and outcome that is highly specific. A great way to get a specific intention is to use the 5 W's, used in journalistic writing; ask yourself 'Who, what, where, when, why?' Our Cells Communicate Through Frequencies The fantastic thing to note is that we all have the most powerful healer inside of us. We've been living by the scientific story we've been told, an older Newtonian vision where separate things generate ideas in time and space. Over the past 100+ years, we've seen through the newer science of Quantum Physics that we're all interconnected through energy systems, otherwise known as the zero-point field. Our thoughts are a transmitter, and our cells communicate through frequencies. Our brain is literally like a TV station transducing. We're either giving or receiving light all the time and have the ability to focus our thoughts in a way that can move and change matter. Quantum Healing We can send intentions back to heal something in our past, and we can also do this in the future. In part, it's understanding that time is not as we think and that it is not linear. You can send thoughts to make people better (including yourself), and Lynne McTaggart shows this scientifically in many of her books, but especially in The Intention Experiment and The Power of Eight. Understanding your own inner power can help you take back your power to heal from within. In this way, Lynne invites us all to be spiritual activists in which we can become more connected to our own natural inner healing powers and that of our society. How To Self Soothe with Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor
Meet Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is back again on the You-est You podcast! Dr. Jill is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist. In 1996 she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain, causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. Her memoir, My Stroke of Insight, documenting her experience with stroke and eight-year recovery, spent 63 weeks on the New York Times non-fiction bestseller list and is still routinely the #1 book about stroke on Amazon. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a dynamic teacher and public speaker who loves educating all age groups, academic levels, as well as corporations about the beauty of our human brain and its ability to recover from trauma. In 2008 she gave the first TED talk that ever went viral on the Internet, which now has well over 26 million views. Also, in 2008, Dr. Taylor was chosen as one of Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" and was the premiere guest on Oprah Winfrey's "Soul Series" webcast. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is also the author of the most recent bestselling book, Whole Brain Living. I invited Dr. Jill back on to my podcast to talk about how we can learn to self-soothe ourselves during such a stressful time that has increased the amount of anxiety and fear in so many people's lives. This conversation will help you learn how to talk to the scientific four parts of your brain (this is an excellent refresh if you want to reconnect with your four characters) and start unifying all of your characters through a brain huddle. The Four Characters The brain has two hemispheres; the left and the right. The right hemisphere is all about being here, right now. It's about being experiential in the present moment. Character 4 is the thinking part of the brain that is about consciousness and that feeling of being grateful to be alive. Character 3 is the emotional part of the right brain that is creative, innovative, open, and will ask, 'What does that feel like?' The part that is feeling the stress of the world and needing the self-soothing. The left hemisphere is about the past, present and the future and is where we individuate and form a sense of being an individual. Character 2 is about your emotions in your left brain and Character 1 is the thinking part of the left brain that will look for structure and organization, and will ask 'how am I a functional human being in the world? How can I self-soothe and take the weight off my shoulders? Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and I shared the names of our 4 Characters. Share in the You-est You Podcast Community on Facebook your names! Emotions are really just energy in motion; emotion is energy running on a circuit that can feel like rage, sadness, joy, elation, etc. Think of emotions as energy flowing through the cells in our brain and body. The Brain Huddle Think of your four characters who are on the same team and here to connect about your next play in life. The best way to build your muscle of leaning on a brain huddle is to start doing this 20x's day. In the Brain Huddle, BRAIN stands for Breath, Recognize, Appreciate, Inquire, Navigate. Here's a deeper dive into what this means: Breath - Be present in the moment with your breath Recognize- Notice who called the huddle (which character) Appreciate - Appreciate all four of your characters and realize they are all on the same team Inquire - Ask, who wants the mic? Ask your four characters who wants to talk, and allow for all four to share. You don't need to give your power away. Navigate - Use this process to navigate moment to moment How to Self-Soothe Yourself Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor reminds us to call in your four characters for a brain huddle and give yourself time, space, and grace to connect with which character wants to share. Often it is your sweet Character 2 who has emotions to share. Know this is the process that helps you self-soothe. That will bring you a sense of calm during the storm of the past several years. Allow yourself the space to feel all emotions and surround your character with love and compassion. My 3 favorite quotes from this episode: "We're feeling creatures who think! Not the other way around.", "Our past pain isn't here to be a lifestyle. It's here so you can learn, grow and move on." and "The quality of your dealing with your emotions will affect the quality of your thinking." And, a total mind-blown moment: "We've been alive when our mothers were in our grandmother's 5th week of gestation." How To Be Radically Loved with Rosie Acosta
Meet Rosie Acosta Rosie Acosta has studied yoga and mindfulness for over 20 years and taught for over a decade. She hosts a weekly conversational wellness podcast, Radically Loved. Rosie has traveled all over the world, leading workshops, retreats, and yoga teacher trainings. She's been featured in Yoga Journal, Well + Good, Forbes, and The New York Post. She lives in Los Angeles. YOU ARE RADICALLY LOVED is her first book. Rosie Acosta is such a powerful example of what's possible when you make up your mind to change your life, regardless of circumstances. After being arrested for trying to steal a police car in her teens, she realized the direction she was headed was not one of happiness, contentment, or any kind of joy. Unlike many brown and black teens who end up staying in the system, she realized she had to get out. What ensued was both courageous and miraculous. A friend of Rosie's mother recommended meditation as a way to cope with stress and anxiety. She figured she'd give it a try and started to notice internal changes for the better. That's when Rosie realized she had to excommunicate herself from her friends --- childhood friends she had grown up with on the streets in LA when gangs were running rampant. Getting Out Of Trouble and Chaos Rosie started to get herself in planned detention to go to the library to read books like 'The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama and other inspiring works that would help begin the process of shifting her inner beliefs and outer world. She found the courage to leave friends who had been like family so that she could begin to find out who she really is and be the creative, loving, kind person she dreamt of being. Through meditation, yoga, and readings by Paramahansa Yogananda, started small cracks of change that led to an entirely new life direction. The Power of Compassion Today, Rosie Acosta speaks to high schools all over the US about how they have the autonomy, agency, and self-guidance to trust in themself and greater support. She teaches them about being Radically Loved and the practices that can change your life. The root of loving change is compassion for yourself and others. Radically Loved, Defined Radically Loved is about stepping into powerful innate energy. Using this energy as a conduit, you realize that it is an ever-flowing love, eternal, never-ending guidance of love. In a difficult moment, the most radical act of love is to be fully present with where you are, befriending yourself and your feelings. It's about giving yourself the nourishment you need and being kind to yourself. This is something to practice daily, and the more you can cultivate powerful compassion for yourself, the more you can do this with others. Notice this and reverse engineer what you love to make room to add more of this elsewhere. Speak in the name of love. Life is an ever-seeking energy expressed through us. Connect to the energy of love through your words and speaking. You can be, do or have anything. You just have to get in harmony with it. If you are in a state of self-loathing, look at it as a wiring problem and notice what you're noticing. You are not your thoughts Care more about helping people and be willing to do things afraid. Three Powerful Words to Change Your Subconscious We also discussed the three most powerful words you can say to yourself regarding changing the frequency of your thoughts and overcoming limiting beliefs and stories as they relate to your past and keeping you stuck. When you find yourself saying something like, "I've never been able to change that habit", for example, try adding these three words afterward: up until now. This will help give your subconscious a new command when up against those lingering negative beliefs. I really hope that this special 300th episode celebration will illuminate and remind you of the sacred gifts already within you, ready to be expressed. I brought in my dear friend, Rev. Frances Fayden, podcast host, author, and interfaith minister, to have a deeply honest and raw conversation about what it means to step into a greater mission of service, leadership, and influence. While my journey started with a commitment of doing one weekly episode for a year, I stayed the course because of the blessing to interview leading experts and prominent leaders who share their hearts, experience, lessons learned, and wisdom. It has been a gift to host this show, and I hope and pray that whatever episodes you've listened to have added expansion, upliftment, and greater possibility in your own life. To Compare Is To Despair One of my greatest lessons has been to stop comparing myself to others and taking others off the pedestal, no matter how well known they might be. Pedestals are dangerous as they create a 'better than' mentality, and as you know with the You-est You concept, no one is better than another. Instead, some have planted their seeds earlier or at different times than you, and often we're seeing the finished byproduct that might have been planted years ago. Additionally, in interviewing a wide range of spiritual leaders and influencers, I've been reminded that the goal is not to be anyone else's version of your You-est You. Yet, rather it's to get inspired and moved by another's story, journey, and lessons learned to tap more deeply into your own authenticity. Pedestals don't belong in this journey of deeper self-exploration and self-compassion. I'm hoping that as you tune in, what's being reflected back to you is what's possible when you follow your greater vision and dream. That's why I think of you (and myself) as brave dreamers. It takes tremendous courage to express and become your You-est You. I'm grateful you're here and would love to hear how you're taking other people off pedestals so that you can see your own divinity staring right back in your very eyes. Rather than compare, get inspired and know whatever you're hearing is an example of what's possible. Learning To Expand Your Visibility One of my biggest lessons over the 300 episodes I've recorded has been to let go of the fear of judgments, of what others might say about me, and about my own inner judgments, especially given so many episodes have treaded into territory that I might have shied away from in the past. I'm learning that the most important thing you can do is stay true and authentic to your own truth. To come from a place of unconditional compassion and heart and trust that it's safe to be more visible and share my thoughts. We naturally crave connection at a deep level, which is most potent when being vulnerable and willing to be seen. I share this with those who might struggle with visibility or fear of being seen in a larger way. If you know in your heart you're up to big things and here to be a change-maker, it's imperative to start shifting the way you see your own visibility. Ways to do that are through community, finding a great mentor, coach, or friend who is on a similar path and can hold you accountable to your bigger dream. That's the first secret on how to become an influencer. Impact Mentorship Program After two years of dreaming up how to make a bigger impact with entrepreneurial women who want to birth their vision, I have finally decided to put together the Impact Mentorship Program. Life After Breath with Jacob Cooper
Meet Jacob Cooper Jacob Cooper is a Clinical Social Worker, Certified Reiki Master, and Certified Hypnotherapist specializing in Past Life Regression Therapy; he works privately with clients through online services. Find out more about Jacob at jacoblcooper.com Life After Breath The interview with Jacob Cooper was such a powerful and profound look into a Near Death Experience, aka NDE, and how these experiences are forever life-changing. Jacob shared his NDE when he was three years old and how it left him awake to the potentiality of humanity and breadth and depth of the Divine. Jacob was diagnosed with Pertussis at the age of three. Without realizing the severity of such a diagnosis, his parents let him go to the park to play. On a jungle gym ladder, he started to cough and couldn't breathe. Without enough oxygen, he remembers leaving his body and seeing that his body wasn't fully working. In this incredibly enigmatic experience, he saw his spirit guides on both sides of him and shared that there are no words to describe them. He then saw an endless sea of thousands of angels. They had a uniform look, and he felt enormous unconditional love from them. In Jacob Cooper's words, "It felt like a grand reunion where he could feel all is well and all is divine love". With their help, he survived his near-death experience, truly giving him life after breath. A Secret Worth Sharing Jacob Cooper spent 20 years not telling a soul about his experience, both out of sacred reverence for what happened and knowing it would raise eyebrows and create uncomfortable questioning. His near-death experience left him with an enormous gift still with him; the remembrance that heaven is right here and that love is the ultimate collateral. He has helped many build trust with the light that lives inside us and teaches us how to connect to this eternal knowing. The key to expanding your sense of the divine is through raising your consciousness. Jacob Cooper shares some of the ways to raise consciousness: To expand and transform, you have to be vulnerable to lose yourself. Meditation and quieting the mind are crucial. It's in the still of the mind that you can access truth and get in touch with your infinite nature. You've got to match your light with the light on the other side; which is an all-loving unconditional reverence and love Jacob reminds us not to be defined by our story but to define it ourselves. This is the gift of free will and being human. And, by tuning into the GPS of your soul, you will never be misled. Final Thoughts Jacob Cooper's life after breath experience gave him the eternal knowledge that we can easily align ourselves with heaven, even here on earth. That it doesn't take a near-death experience to connect and feel the joy that is heaven or our authentic infinite nature. Transformational Healing with Dr. Alex Golden and Megan Blacksmith

There Is Not One Right Path For Everyone Both Dr. Alex Golden and Megan Blacksmith shared their rock bottom health experience. They tried everything in the medical system, including testing and numerous medicines, pills, and visits that led to feeling even more hopeless. Each came back hearing that they were 'fine' and that there was nothing else to do because their testing showed no health issues. In this experience of feeling frustrated and misunderstood, they each changed course in their lives to study and learn how our bodies are so much more than the physical body we know. From an integrative approach, they each studied how the brain, our habits, and our beliefs have way more to do with health than we understand. Dr. Alex Golden went back to medical school. Megan Blacksmith pursued functional medicine and nutritional healing. Much of what they teach is to trust your inner wisdom, know that you can shift your beliefs and physical, emotional and mental state and that there is no one right or same path for everyone. Their goal was to create transformational healing for all who desired it. The Powerful World of Transformational Healing This model of transformational healing looks at the body as a whole system and includes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body. Can I get a hallelujah for that? Much of what we forget to address is the crucial aspect of our beliefs and habits. Both women talked about being told that their cases wouldn't get better. If they believed those mandates, they wouldn't have healed. It often becomes a choice whether to listen to a doctor or your internal voice. Much of what's important to understand is that the brain is highly involved with getting better and healing. Most of us are doing anything we can to feel better, especially if we've been sick for a while or struggled with a situation like Dr. Alex, who had endometriosis or horrible cramping. You need to be in a healing mode, which means new ways of thinking, beliefs, and habits. Our emotions and thoughts affect and communicate with our Central Nervous System (CNS). Because our brain is always looking to be most effiicent, it will stay on autopilot and remember your habit pattern of thought and emotion. Different thoughts can change the chemical messages in your brain. While it's important to change habits around sleeping, eating and movement, it's even more important to change your thought pattern. Changes in thoughts change your brain chemistry, which changes everything. Habits, Hormones, and Your Brain To be receptive to change habits and your brain, you need to be coming from your parasympathetic system (rest and digest) rather than your sympathetic nervous system (fight and flight). The sympathetic nervous system is what gets triggered when we're in a state of stress. It's also essential to understand the HPA axis; this is the connection and chain reaction from your Hypothalamus, Pituitary Gland, and Adrenals. Most don't realize that the hypothalamus, a region in the forebrain, controls hunger, thirst and determines what is in the bloodstream. It decides whether you'll sleep well, lose weight, have great skin, or whatever it is you believe. To make real change and have a transformation, you've got to understand how vital your habits and beliefs are. Some of the steps to making a change are getting clear on your goal, getting your body into a parasympathetic state, finding old beliefs that don't serve you and releasing and installing new ones—then making an empowered decision to change and making sure your actions align with who you are becoming. Most importantly, watch your thoughts and beliefs to ensure they best support your intended state and outcome. Three Tips and Techniques to Heal and Thrive Dr. Alex Golden shared three powerful tips that you can use for your physical, mental, and emotional body for greater healing and calm. The Physical Body: It's important to activate the vagus nerve, connected to many bodily functions like digestion, processing emotions, stress, etc. One simple way to activate your vagus nerve is to thump your hand on your chest bone for at least a repetition of 20 times. Try this until you feel a resonance. Other practical ways to do this are singing, humming, and gargling. The Mental Body: Try this 'Standing in the Eye of the Storm' technique where you imagine yourself in the center of a big storm. Pull in your energy, create space and stay connected to your own self. Imagine your staying calm and collected in the storm. The Emotional Body: Try the 'White Light Shower'. This is all about connecting to unconditional love. Imagine a beautiful white light from above entering at the top of your head, moving down to your feet. Allow your emotions, any that are there, to flow with the light to the bottom of your feet and imagine these emotions, along with the light, being recycled into the earth. Wah! explains that when you hum, you are naturally calibrating to your body and cells. We all have this innate ability to heal ourselves through the power of humming. Through humming, you lengthen your breath and activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which is the rest and digest aspect of your nervous system. Humming creates a natural soothing and calming down of your body and energy. All Energy Matters Wah! explains that every organism operates at 70hz and that when there is an illness like cancer, research shows that one's electrical energy can dip as low as 55hz. It is crucial to take care of, protect and honor your energy. You can use your attention to focus on different things that will help you to feel higher energy, like music, humming, appreciation, and self-care. Speaking of energy and frequency, she reminds us that we need to be mindful of all the intense energy we are surrounded by, such as our cell phones which can measure close to 1200 Mhz, and microwaves which also give off a lot of electromagnetic energy. You Can Give Yourself an Empowering New Name (like Wah!) Just like Wah! taking on a name that motivates and uplifts her, you can do the same. Create a name you use to address yourself, like 'Outrageously Loving' or 'Ambassador of Light', or whatever might help you feel more connected to a way of being that truly empowers you. In case you were wondering what 'Jai Ma' means after listening to Wah!'s chanting on this episode, she explained that Jai means 'wow', or 'oh my goodness' and that sacred awe and 'Ma' means 'mother', 'divine mother', 'mother nature' and/or the 'connection to the mother energy'. A Pandemic of Love with Shelly Tygielski
Meet Shelly Tygielski Shelly Tygielski is the author of Sit Down to Rise Up and the founder of the global grassroots mutual aid organization Pandemic of Love. Her work has been featured by over 100 media outlets, including CNN Heroes, The Kelly Clarkson Show, CBS This Morning, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. A trauma-mindfulness teacher and a Garrison Institute Fellow, she has been called one of the "12 Powerful Women of the Mindfulness Movement" By Mindful.org and teaches self-care and resilience at organizations around the world. I loved every moment of this conversation with Shelly. She is the real deal, my friend. She has followed her deep desire to make a positive change in the world and allowed herself to follow the breadcrumbs. It has led her to start a global non-profit that is all about helping communities worldwide get the services, shelter, goods, and nourishment they need to be well. Sit Down to Rise Up After following her inner guidance and signing up for a meditation class back in the early nineties in her graduate program at Columbia University, Shelly Tygielski discovered a calm and deeper connection through the power of mindfulness and meditation. Years later, she realized that if we just focus only on ourselves and our inner world but don't use our inner guidance to make a difference, we are doing ourselves and the world a disservice. Shelly realized that we need to sit down and meditate, get calm and connected, to rise up and make a bigger impact. Her book Sit Down to Rise Up shares her insights a step further, be sure to look for that. A Pandemic of Love Shelly Tygielski asked herself what she could do to solve the problem and help out her community at the beginning of the pandemic. This grassroots greater desire led her to create a simple spreadsheet that paired up those who needed help and those who could give help. This heart-centered idea ended up spreading across the planet and is now a global non-profit called A Pandemic of Love that has 280 chapters in 16 countries. In sum, you can ask 'What if?' or 'Why not?' If you follow the 'Why not?' thread, you could end up creating a life-changing operation, like Shelly. Two Questions to Change Your Life We talked about the need to not only meditate but also to honor your feelings. As Dr. Dan Siegel said, 'you've got to name it to tame it', or the phrase I live by is 'feel to heal'. The two questions to ask yourself when you are feeling overwhelmed or struggling with your emotions are 1. What can I do about this? and 2. How do I come from a place of love?
